For you apartment dwellers, you might look into the nuts and bolts of buying a home. Most people I know who rent can afford to be applying those payments to some equity of their own without being a slave to their payments. I live in a small home, (950 sq.ft.) and love that my money is going into something that's going up in value instead of just disappearing into someone else's pocket. I can run noisy tools, use stinky paints and nobody cares. Pride of ownership my friends.

What's not to love? A nicely built model and heavy on the sentimental.

A well defended answer. Keep up the good work.

THAT'S IT! I've owned this kit for years, unable to zero in on what treatment to give it. By George I think this is it. Fabulous.

My Man Cave Model Room

Now I hate you. -
You do great work, it's a pleasure to look at these. Just one critique on some of your paintings... I think it dilutes the quality of your work to show the photographer in the reflection of your vehicle. You're skilled enough to go "off script" and exclude him. Otherwise, in today's digital age, it's too easy for skeptics to think it's a filtered Photoshop pic. Even if they don't think that, the scope of your artistic contribution feels diminished if it looks painted from a photo. Though there's nothing at all wrong with that, no point in calling attention to it unless there's a reason you want us to see it. Looking forward to more.

Wow, that's a beauty. Looks like a lot of work. I'll take a '65 over a '66 any day.

The photo etch details really bring this little guy to life. Well done sir.

Can there be too many parts?
Lunajammer replied to Xingu's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm very influenced by parts count. I'm big on the older kits. Even a subject I'm very interested in can be passed over if it appears to be too time consuming and fussy. If you do custom body work and wire and plumb your engine then a high parts count is just the beginning, add more to that. No thanks. -
Me likey. Not a lot of love for the big 'birds but I think that's because of the name. Call it anything else and there'd be more warmth. I've always liked these and yours is no different. Two tone is a good idea.

This looks very light and fast. I like what I'm seeing Dominik.

Wow, that's a honey. Put that on the list of most interesting subjects of 2017.

I love that patina and wish I could do it on command for another project. My gut feeling is go with it, but I can understand the obstacles since you still have body work to do.

1929 Model A Roadster ArtDeco/Coachbuilt/Streamliner -DONE!
Lunajammer replied to Impalow's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Every step of this is a pleasant surprise. Among the finest work I think I've seen on this forum. And your photography is fantastic, really helps accentuate your work. All of it is worthy of publication. -
Well, that's something you don't see every day. I like the car, yes, but a bang up job on that engine too.

Pretty cool stuff going here. I enjoy seeing what all you knuckleheads are crafting. I've done nothing on the Vette in a month. My bench has been occupied with building three adult Pinewood Derby cars for the annual VFW Derby for the Vets, a benefit that raises money for special requests from the local VA hospital. I'll be updating this thread after this weekend. My GF wants to enter a car and asked me to carve a dog. Challenging but so far so good.

SnapTite kits for a 7 year old
Lunajammer replied to smhardesty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was at a show this weekend in a rural community where the kids got to make-&-take this Snap Tite Fire Truck. They were surprisingly popular. The kids were able to finish it during the show and five local volunteer fire departments built them in advance as a mini-competition between them. People's choice selected the best truck of the five departments. Might be worth a try with your grandson and they look pretty good built up. -
Yes Matija, Fargo and John Carpenter's The Thing. Both close to my heart and ones I have a personal connection to. Fargo, for obvious reasons (check my locator) and because half of it was filmed around here. Kristin Rudrud, who plays the kidnapped wife, still lives here and has been a client of mine. The Thing, because the opening sequences (with the dog) were filmed on the Juneau Ice Field the year I lived in Juneau, AK. The crew stayed at the hotel about four blocks from my house. They chose Juneau because of moderate temps and high likelihood of overcast. But after arrival we got about ten days of lovely sunny weather and the crew got stuck waiting for a cloudy day. The best they got was a hazy day, so they filmed and doctored more overcast in post production. Plus I love the story and for a horror story, there aren't a lot of cheap, contrived plot points.

Oooo, wasn't expecting that. Very tasty.

Kill them with kindness. What goes around, comes around. Always works for me, even when I don't want to do it, it usually pays off.

This is so much cleaner than the old issue I've been sitting on for 18-years.

I quite like this. It sure sits nice.

Hey, I like that. Clever.
