I was totally unaware of the repopped '77, my favorite version of this car. I'd been working out the details of converting the '78 to '77. Thanks for the update Faust.
Hey Zoom, SUPERB!
In the end I wasn't really disappointed with the results, but the voting process was a disaster. Lesson learned.
38 days . That puts things in perspective.
I'll go along with that. This actually looks pretty authentic. It's a cool subject matter and aesthetically seems pretty true to the period. It's in decent shape and the details seem right.
In given circumstances, and this might be one of them, I cut the BMF into thin strips first, then lightly lay it down adjusting as I go. Once satisfied, burnish it down. You'll have a nice crisp edge.
FWIW, a while back I entered the Google Archives and gathered up all the surviving photos of all the finishers of each year. I can supplement your thread or put up a companion thread Under Glass when the time comes if there's interest. Likewise 6 years ago. When I think about it, this is what got me also to get back out there after ten years to get fresh paint, glue and tool upgrades and become serious about models again.
X2. I don't collect them, but I don't throw them out either. I downloaded one and printed it out on card stock at work. I use it at my desk as a coin box for the pop machine.
Haven't you watched those home make over shows? You're supposed to smash everything to bits, regardless of how clean and useful it still is.
Looks great though.
