This was a surprise. I really, really like it. I have the kit and I'm not afraid of it. Rather, I'm encouraged that it can finish this lustrous. I might have to bookmark this for reference.

The more I research my next project, the more I'm dazzled by your design choices. This isn't just made up stuff, you've studied future cars and this demonstrates a real understanding of contemporary concepts. And that's aside from the superb mechanical engineering you've shown. I covet.

On one hand, it's all relative. I didn't feel any different when kits went above $10. Retail price has always hurt a little. That said, I've been exercising conscious buying restraint the past couple years because of price points and I've made greater efforts to draw from my stash whenever possible. I mean, that's why I have a stash, right?

Now that's my kind of modeling. A lot of fit-'n-fill and imagineering, but it's a one-off and a great show piece.

Hmm. Mixed feelings. On one hand I have several that could benefit from this rule change, including an unfinished Cannonball car. On the other hand, will half built entries be Cannonball cars or end up being just an old favorite that might be more suited for the Back on the Bench! CBP? Maybe it doesn't matter. Won't effect me.

This is quite the paint tutorial. Please be sure to post the failures too. Even those can inspire a starting point for someone. A friend of mine and I have been developing an ongoing art project and I think we are inspired by, and learn more from each others failures as we do from our discoveries.

As Oldnslow said, the only constant in life is change and I've always believed that we need a few life altering experiences to keep us understanding new perspectives and to re-appreciate the things we have. We'd rather it be not so drastic, but it helps me believe that it's part of God's plan for you to live much longer so you can take with you this experience and share its value where needed. Keep paying your hard dues Harry and watch for the payoff when you're past all this. My sympathies just the same.

Agreed. This is essentially a photo contest. Take some beauty shots that show it as complete as possible and put 'em up. The wind might be out of your sails, but you can at least feel some closure as far as this CBP is concerned.

Hey, nice work Allen. I think the bow flat fenders make it distinctive enough. While the Juke is a style I love to hate, it's been growing on me from the point of view that anything different is good.

Edit: Looking at this closer, the sail panel should probably be swept more like a 70 Ford Galaxie or Marauder.

Fascinating conversation. I have to respect Bill G. for sticking to his guns and know with confidence that he's the man to pull off a completely accurate conversion. He would have the patience, eye, perseverance etc. to do it right. Personally for me, I'd build like Steve. If it looks right at a glance, I could not give it the Geary treatment if it was ever to get finished. Great conversation guys.

You got a great start. Clean build and everything looks right. Nice work. As you gain more experience and confidence you can explore using Bare Metal Foil on your window trim and maybe a black wash to help bring out details. Lots of great examples on this forum to inspire you. Neat model, welcome aboard.

I'm pretty sure that's a metal diecast. You'd be dealing with screws and fasteners.
