  1. Stumbled across some earlier mock-up pics while researching something....thought I'd share all the same
  2. Gorgeous fitment Bruce. I have a hiro 1/12th 917K "Hippy Car" that I've never gotten to. I'm going to sell it at some point as I just won't have the time to ever build it. A shame as your build is VERY inspirational and shows what can be made of one. Nice nice job again!
  3. Jeff, thanks for the compliment. I can't deny that is has been challenging but also rewarding so far. cheers Chris, ahh, the plating............well there is still a lot of behind the scenes experimenting when doing a given part to get an acceptable finish. I wish there was one simple process to get truly consistent results with the system but that's not the case for me. thanks for peeking in too. Dave, thanks man. I am just so far behind my original schedule. As you know it's just been the most miserable summer in Pa. with all this rain. I'll get there I know but this is just getting silly now. btw, saw the 730 c.i. all alum. mill for your 37' you're building up. Whatcha thinking, 900+ horse in a mild tune? It's looking great is all I can say. cheers, tim
  4. Hey Dave, gotta agree it's been a terrible painting season here in central Pa. Got the seat plated and did a test fit. Plating the seat was a bit trickier than I thought it would be, this plating thing is a bit tricky for me but if it goes well the results are worthwhile IMO. The leather seat pad is not glued down yet & the chassis color will be gunmetal. Cheers everyone!
  5. My only advice would be to make a very few limited items to start of modest time requirements. Time is money of course and unless he's doing CNC stuff it's going to be difficult to attain any reasonable value proposition for either you or the end-user. You might be able to charge a "premium" as noted in some of the earlier comments but you should define what "premium" is..........you might be disappointed in what you feel is a fair price v. what the buyer is describing as premium. Your request for which parts to possibly offer initially is a good question to ask but deliverables, price and quality all must be part of your considerations as well before kicking it off. I give you credit for considering bringing such products to market and hope you succeed as nothing beats real metal. In sum, walk before you run is all I'm saying to avoid disappointment for you and or your buyer. Good luck too! cheers, tim
  6. Still drooling over each update Douglas. So so inspiring what you're doing here. cheers, tim
  7. Ferraris' everywhere in Big Boyz and yours is fantastic as well Bruce. Gorgeous car and execution. BIG fan of this thread too. cheers
  8. One of the most incredible F1 cars ever Nicolas. You're doing a fantastic job. I just posted on Chris job on his 312 and came across your build. 2 more great builds to follow in the Big Boyz. Super!! cheers, tim
  9. Hey Chris, VERY nice job on this kit. The car brings back great memories of hearing early 70's Ferrari 312T's at Watkins Glen. Their flat 12 was the coolest thing ever as you could tell where the cars were even out of sight as their sound was so unique (GREAT!!!!!) best of luck as you finish her up. cheers, tim
  10. My bad Chris...........JUST noticed it's 1/16.
  11. Thank you Chris & Randy..........very much! cheers
  12. Those are gorgeous Jeff. The build is going to be truly special that's obvious. I ESPECIALLY like the pic you provided of the jig you made so that you could do the wheels.............to machinists everywhere that is simplicity and beauty all rolled into one. Good one!! cheers, tim
  13. Nice to see your reply Randy and will certainly look forward to your next post on ANY of your builds you had going. That Ford GT of yours is truly amazing as well. cheers
  14. Has anybody heard from Randy recently? Just wondering as his builds were always a sight to behold & I miss his posts. cheers
  15. This looks like a fantastic subject and knowing the personal element, I know it will get the "Sobak" treatment. btw, what scale Chris? I know you said you're doing a brass chassis too this time......oh yeah! cheers
  16. Congratulations Chris on the win at IPMS. Truly a worthy entry and very deserving. I can only imagine how satisfied you feel having the car completed. I'll be sure to check out your future builds of course as I always learn from your posts and marvel at the quality. Cheers Sir!
  17. Gold base is done. I'll get the chassis done this week, just a few more tabs to add, then finish body itself in Kandy Red. I want to take a second and thank John Teresi for his insights on how he lays down such beautiful paint jobs. His tips have proven helpful and I'm sure they'll help me to get a decent final product. cheers
  18. Be sure to take an extra suitcase to the show......you'll need it to haul home the hardware. Regarding your next build, just tell me it's NOT a bantam altered.
  19. Can't help you on that score Dave.......thanks too for the help way back when in showing me how to go about machining them in the first place and you're oh so right that that style wheel would just make your 37' Chevy just that wee bit better..............if that's possible. Chris, thanks man, I can't wait either........the whole summer has flown by and I'm so far off schedule. Back to school is coming though !! John, also appreciated.......I saw the weather in Cali is crazy hot right now........you must be on a painting binge unless it's too hot, which I know is possible. All else is well here, thanks for asking it's just the kids are keeping me busy and bench time is hard to come by it seems. Cheers guys!!
  20. Very creative Rob and it looks like it was designed that way from the factory and they just forgot to bring to production. Nice job sir!
  21. You're certainly off to an excellent start Dann. Cheers, tim
  22. Thank you Wayne....since I can't paint I thought I'd move onto the wheels. Was giving some thought to doing the rear wheels with a gold color inset but after polishing these up and putting the spare body on it, I've decided to go with this look. I was fortunate as I only had to chuck them up in the lathe and put some Maguiars mag polish on them. As soon as the weather breaks I'll finish up the wheels and tires too. The pics are kind of dark as the light was reflecting off the wheels so much I couldn't get a good pic otherwise. A good thing though. Cheers!
  23. Oh so right there Brad......drill bits were worthless and went thru 2 end mills & 4 jewelers cut-off blades (they're reasonably cheap thankfully) to do them.
  24. Wow, just wow! Gorgeous car sir.
  25. Haven't poked my head in on this one for a while, my loss. Super Dann.....I like the details you're picking out and bringing them to our attention. Nailing it. cheers, tim
