  1. Encouraging comments from each of you, today was day 1 of 5 day of great paint weather now. I know it's not much but after too many delays, I actually have the chassis in primer sitting in the dehyrator. Tomorrow color, then Saturday should be clear. Excited now to really move on with it. Cheers again to all that have followed and commented. Tim
  2. Thanks everyone for your patience AND interest in the build. Your comments provide a mental boost to get this done especially since it's been so frustrating regarding paint etc. The chassis will be painted a gun metal color as mentioned and I think when done it will really pop with all of the metal work and the color combinations I've selected. Today I took time to take pics of the various bits and pieces I've made for the car so I could put together an assembly order. There are various fittings and plumbing that you don't see (brakes, oil, fuel, fire extinguisher etc.) along with steering / control arm links and such. Too many little bits and pieces so I'll spare you those. Cheers to one and all. Tim
  3. I know I put it around here somewhere.............oh there it is, excuse me while I pick up my jaw. cheers John.
  4. Still rainin' here. 2nd wettest year on record in Penna. Final chassis tabs are on and everything cleaned up for paint. The mock-up pics are for me as a guide on what to mask off prior to paint. The "tongs" I made were made to hold the chassis somehow while painting it, I think it will work pretty well. Next pics will be of it in color once and for all. cheers
  5. You make Ferrari proud. Congratulations on such a fine build. cheers, tim
  6. A true display of talent and passion John.........just like all of your builds. I always enjoy going back to the first page from time to time to see the concept as a reminder of what you're bringing to fruition. cheers
  7. Dave, I forgot about that earlier "debate" over what this build was going to be it's been so long. I don't know about "icon" status but I know it will be the best I can do. Desperate now to get the chassis in paint so I can commence the assembly. 3 days AGAIN of lousy weather......94 degrees and about 100% humidity here. I just can't get a break with it. Should have it finally in paint by mid month and if all goes well the Kandy Red on the body. I do want to thank some particular builders here for sharing their knowledge & experience whenever I've reached out to them. A sincere "thank you" to Chris, John Teresi, Clay Kemp and Dave Sherman......great group of talented individuals and I'd be remiss not to mention them. cheers
  8. Man I wish I had some of the skills that you possess Chris........for those younger modellers that can do CAD like you do (and others here) it can only help to make a better car or whatever you're making. Great start. cheers dude!

So you've proven it CAN be done Anders. Gorgeous Alclad paint on this and the paint scheme is great too. I'm sooo jealous over that paint job sir. cheers, tim
  10. my head spins every time I visit one of your threads John. Like a carnival ride without having to buy a ticket. A good thing I assure you and btw, REALLY nice work too! cheers, tim
  11. Fantastic work there Joe. Love the creativeness of what you've done this build. cheers, tim
  12. Stumbled across some earlier mock-up pics while researching something....thought I'd share all the same
  13. Gorgeous fitment Bruce. I have a hiro 1/12th 917K "Hippy Car" that I've never gotten to. I'm going to sell it at some point as I just won't have the time to ever build it. A shame as your build is VERY inspirational and shows what can be made of one. Nice nice job again!
  14. Jeff, thanks for the compliment. I can't deny that is has been challenging but also rewarding so far. cheers Chris, ahh, the plating............well there is still a lot of behind the scenes experimenting when doing a given part to get an acceptable finish. I wish there was one simple process to get truly consistent results with the system but that's not the case for me. thanks for peeking in too. Dave, thanks man. I am just so far behind my original schedule. As you know it's just been the most miserable summer in Pa. with all this rain. I'll get there I know but this is just getting silly now. btw, saw the 730 c.i. all alum. mill for your 37' you're building up. Whatcha thinking, 900+ horse in a mild tune? It's looking great is all I can say. cheers, tim
  15. Hey Dave, gotta agree it's been a terrible painting season here in central Pa. Got the seat plated and did a test fit. Plating the seat was a bit trickier than I thought it would be, this plating thing is a bit tricky for me but if it goes well the results are worthwhile IMO. The leather seat pad is not glued down yet & the chassis color will be gunmetal. Cheers everyone!
  16. My only advice would be to make a very few limited items to start of modest time requirements. Time is money of course and unless he's doing CNC stuff it's going to be difficult to attain any reasonable value proposition for either you or the end-user. You might be able to charge a "premium" as noted in some of the earlier comments but you should define what "premium" is..........you might be disappointed in what you feel is a fair price v. what the buyer is describing as premium. Your request for which parts to possibly offer initially is a good question to ask but deliverables, price and quality all must be part of your considerations as well before kicking it off. I give you credit for considering bringing such products to market and hope you succeed as nothing beats real metal. In sum, walk before you run is all I'm saying to avoid disappointment for you and or your buyer. Good luck too! cheers, tim
  17. Still drooling over each update Douglas. So so inspiring what you're doing here. cheers, tim
  18. Ferraris' everywhere in Big Boyz and yours is fantastic as well Bruce. Gorgeous car and execution. BIG fan of this thread too. cheers
  19. One of the most incredible F1 cars ever Nicolas. You're doing a fantastic job. I just posted on Chris job on his 312 and came across your build. 2 more great builds to follow in the Big Boyz. Super!! cheers, tim
  20. Hey Chris, VERY nice job on this kit. The car brings back great memories of hearing early 70's Ferrari 312T's at Watkins Glen. Their flat 12 was the coolest thing ever as you could tell where the cars were even out of sight as their sound was so unique (GREAT!!!!!) best of luck as you finish her up. cheers, tim
  21. My bad Chris...........JUST noticed it's 1/16.
  22. Thank you Chris & Randy..........very much! cheers
  23. Those are gorgeous Jeff. The build is going to be truly special that's obvious. I ESPECIALLY like the pic you provided of the jig you made so that you could do the wheels.............to machinists everywhere that is simplicity and beauty all rolled into one. Good one!! cheers, tim
  24. Nice to see your reply Randy and will certainly look forward to your next post on ANY of your builds you had going. That Ford GT of yours is truly amazing as well. cheers
  25. Has anybody heard from Randy recently? Just wondering as his builds were always a sight to behold & I miss his posts. cheers
