Hi Folks, Andrew, The short answer is yes:) but it needs to be parts of similar size and chemical makeup so you know the melting point. You then work just under that temp with a solder like TIXX. For these parts I'm using epoxy and CA. Appreciate the comment Ben ! Thank you Steve:) Randy

Sample of some white metal cast train parts used as stock... Lots of printing out and scaling photos lets me figure out dimensions..... With the crazy 45 degree tilt of the motor the intake side valve cover becomes the focal point so I started there. Lots of filing

Hi Folks, Eric, Really hoping to see you this time:) Finally starting on the motor for the Tipo 61. An inline 4 cylinder , DOHC, aluminum block and heads with twin side draft Webers. Twin sparkplugs, dual coils, dry sump developing 250 h.p. Typical of the period, this little motor had a whole bunch of stuff hanging off it. Fuel pump, oil pump, generator and water pump all gear driven. Lots of photos from the web, one really helpful drawing and some great photos from Joel Finn's book have provided reference. Going to build it up from 'white metal', ally, nickel silver tubing and aftermarket nuts and bolts. As an old model train guy I have alot of white metal castings that provide stock I can shape using hand files. Will assemble with epoxy and super glue.

Next were the seats which do not have any groments cast in, just a hole with a peg in it. The paint masks are not die cut, you need to cut them out. The decals are separated at every panel line???? Don't know if that is good or bad! Randy

Hi Folks, I could not wait to get one of these Big fan of Meng kits and the GT40!!! As Rex posted above, this looks like a Mk 2 GT40. The parts are crisply molded. Meng's engineering is always great. You can basically press fit this model together. For me, there were some areas that disappointed. The engine has some parts that are just flat out unacceptable in this day an age.

Check out the shift linkage/shifter that is with the SBC with Blower motor. This kind of scale detail is where 3D printing really excels.
