Randy D replied to Jiml0001's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Hi Jim, What a great creation !!! Love the use of 3D printing for this project. Randy -
Hey Tim, So glad the eyes are good !!! Been catching up on this one... first off, that rear end is just gorgeous. Loved how you broke it all down to create it. Truly inspiring. Then you went an machined those killer wheels !! Looking forward to more progress on those cool hubs. Have to go back and drool some more. Thanks for the updates my friend , Randy

Hi Folks, Eric, Really hoping to see you this time:) Finally starting on the motor for the Tipo 61. An inline 4 cylinder , DOHC, aluminum block and heads with twin side draft Webers. Twin sparkplugs, dual coils, dry sump developing 250 h.p. Typical of the period, this little motor had a whole bunch of stuff hanging off it. Fuel pump, oil pump, generator and water pump all gear driven. Lots of photos from the web, one really helpful drawing and some great photos from Joel Finn's book have provided reference. Going to build it up from 'white metal', ally, nickel silver tubing and aftermarket nuts and bolts. As an old model train guy I have alot of white metal castings that provide stock I can shape using hand files. Will assemble with epoxy and super glue.

I checked already Rex, should fit like a glove

But all my complaining aside I will build it! I'm thinking that a replacement motor can be sourced. Transaxle just needs a little love:) Randy

Next were the seats which do not have any groments cast in, just a hole with a peg in it. The paint masks are not die cut, you need to cut them out. The decals are separated at every panel line???? Don't know if that is good or bad! Randy

Hi Folks, I could not wait to get one of these Big fan of Meng kits and the GT40!!! As Rex posted above, this looks like a Mk 2 GT40. The parts are crisply molded. Meng's engineering is always great. You can basically press fit this model together. For me, there were some areas that disappointed. The engine has some parts that are just flat out unacceptable in this day an age.

I feel your pain Josh, I got the driveway shoveled out just in time for the blizzard:( That is my daily driver there at the curb. Nothing wrong with my camera, it's the snow going by sideways at 25 MPH.

MAD MIKE MOTORS @ Model Builders' Warehouse
Randy D replied to Randy D's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Mike, My link got buried in the pics, sorry about that..... https://www.modelbuilderswh.com/collections/engine-kits Randy -
Hi Folks, A package of goodies has arrived from Germany. Mad Mike usually prints something that makes me go WOW and this batch is no exception. Check out the shift linkage/shifter that is with the SBC with Blower motor. This kind of scale detail is where 3D printing really excels. The Small block Chevy in both 1/24th & 1/25th scales and a new BBC with transaxle for the McEagle CanAm racer are the 2 latest kits available now. https://www.modelbuilderswh.com/collections/engine-kits
