  1. Not really fond of 1960 cars, but I would probably want a Crocus Cream Impala convertible. Make it a 348 with lots of options. One of my cousins had one. He was killed in Vietnam in 1965, but his parents used it as a daily driver until 1969 or so. I have fond childhood memories of that old boat.
  2. This has been in the local news lately: http://www.sacbee.com/news/local/crime/article75892317.html By all reports, a really sweet young female shepherd that appears to have had a pot of boiling water poured on her I am sure that she will have many offers of adoptive homes once she heals a bit. Just like the Chihuahua that the CHP corralled on the Bay Bridge a few weeks ago.
  3. If you know the DPI of the image and the size of the image in pixels, you know the size in inches. (That is, if you can't find exactly what you are looking for)
  4. You may have seen a Renault Clio. They sell them there. Mexico gets a lot of cool stuff that we don't.
  5. I suspect that both of those vehicles had Mexican license plates.
  6. I still have most of my original convertible in very restorable condition. I have toyed with rebuilding it on a 68 Road Runner chassis and Hemi. I even went as far as to order new bumpers and taillights from Modelhaus.
  7. AMT 1989 Ford Taurus - promo and kit I think that the kit was also released as a 1990 (identical) and as a 1991 with the updated stock wheels.
  8. Yeah. Pretty much true about the explanation. I will attempt to explain the fruit thing though. It's not the fruit, live plants, or bouquet of flowers that they care about. It is the little critters that may be hitchhiking along with them that we don't want here. Agriculture is too important here to introduce yet another non-native pest to destroy citrus, almonds, grape vines, etc. I once had a chat at a SoCal hotel with a chap from Vancouver. As he was walking down the ramp in the (international) airport, an officer barked at him to stop. He finally figured out that the apple he was eating was the problem and the officer was pointing for him to put it in the trash. Guy was internally panicking because he had a small quantity of another "agricultural product" in his pocket.
  9. Grand Touring is the top trim here. You have to get the autotragic transmission to get the tech package wit adaptive cruise control and lane keeping with the automatic high beams. Mine has adaptive lighting and blind spot detection with rear cross traffic though. Has 1300 miles so far and seems quicker every day. Upper end of the tach is getting more pleasant. Our other car is a 2014 Focus Titanium with the handling package. Cornered the market for fun to drive affordable compacts, I think.
  10. Just got this three weeks ago. 2016 Mazda 3S Grand Touring with the 6-speed manual.
  11. I haven't been to Hobby Town for a while. Last time I was there, it seemed like they may have been reducing the number of car kits they had on the shelf. They had a decent assortment of Model Master paint, but some holes in the Tamiya stuff.
  12. The store in Arden Mall seems to have it "more frequently" than Citrus Heights does. It's too bad that neither RC Country or Hobby Town in Folsom carries either magazine. One reason to miss Riverside Hobbies, I guess.
  13. Yeah, this is the only 1/25 BB that I know of that has the correct '69 and later accessory drive. Lots of swapping possibilities!
  14. Toyota Mirai on the freeway last night. I had heard that they delivered the first one locally to a guy who lives "up the hill" from me a bit. I suspect that I will see him again.
  15. They were available all three years of the 70-72 bodystyle. Yes, it was an Olds-only thing.
  16. The Cutlass Supreme was a "sort-of" formal roof. Much squarer than the Cutlass S.
  17. A friend has one of the Plum Crazy 2014 Charger R/Ts. It doesn't really do it for me, but it looks like it's 1 of 658 total 2014 Chargers that look like Barney the dinosaur.
  18. Late 60s. I wasn't building models in 63-64 yet. I just did a search on e-Bay for "revel 57 1/32" and it came back with a junk blue Ford like I remembered. It also came back with a T-Bird, a Corvette, and a Bel Air that must have been reissued much later.
  19. I am pretty sure that I had a molded in blue 57 Ford and a molded in red 57 Chevy around that period of time. I had forgotten about those kits completely.
  20. These look like really nice kits, but I can't swallow the $40 that the LHS wants for the Ranger. (Flame suit in place.) I will probably grab one online at some point. Looking forward to more from this tool!
  21. My commute home takes me on a route routinely used by trucks taking salvage cars to auction. Last night's selection included a rather nice looking 62 (?) Skylark 2 door HT that took a hit in the driver's door. Door, quarter, fender, and probably A-pillar looked to be damaged.
  22. Dual 4-barrel 312. The Paxton supercharged 312 was the "F code". Came from the character in the VIN that denotes the engine.
  23. And they won't be selling the Euro Passat here ever. Since it is on the MQB platform like the new Golf and A3, I suspect that they were testing something powertrain-related that will see in some other MQB car. Or I could be full of it.
  24. Chris, I agree that the Z-16 has an awesome big block, but GM changed the accessory drive in 69. The Monte Carlo engine is spot-on for a 69-up big block, and it comes with A/C. I have been wondering if it would be possible to slice and dice the Chevelle chassis with the Monte Carlo to come up with the right wheelbase and more detail.
  25. I was in traffic with a '57 Ranchero for a bit this morning. I couldn't get my phone out quick enough to get a picture. It appeared to be lowered a bit with aftermarket wheels, but looked to be a survivor otherwise. Chalky light blue on the lower sides and roof, chalky white everywhere else. Some visible rust behind the front wheel.
