Got one a couple weeks ago in the Sacramento metro area, and they seem to come almost every year. They are about 1/3 the footprint of a "real" phone book and only about 3 inches thick. Never look at them, they go right in the recycling can. They aren't really a phone book, more like a collection of paid advertisements. The traditional phone books have been gone for a long time, and I don't miss them. I am an (semi) old phart like most of you, and I can find phone numbers and addresses quickly without filling the bottom kitchen drawer with yellow dyed wood pulp. The capitalist in me is intrigue by the idea that they can sell enough advertising to still print these mini phone books though.

Not to derail the thread, but the Racing White is a "warm" white that can stand in for 1960s Ford Wimbledon White nicely. Not a Kitchen Appliance White at all. Build looks amazing and it is nice to see one that isn't silver/grey.

That's definitely multicultural. I had never heard of pork vindaloo, so I Googled it. I never saw pork on a menu when I was in South India for work some years ago, but I was mostly hanging around with Brahman Hindus that were pretty much 100% veg. After Googling it, I see that it is a dish originating in Goa which is the Portuguese party state, so that makes sense now (and I am of ~50% Portuguese heritage). Your dal recipe hails from up north around Delhi. I was told that rice is more popular in the south because they have more water to grow it with. Dal dishes are more popular in the drier north.

Nigel, I think that version of the '63 Impala was "born without a firewall". Hopefully you can scrounge one up from a more common '64 when build time comes.

They are Prismacolor Premier colored pencils. It's just another way to do things if the kit's instrument engraving is good and it is unusual enough that Best Model Car Parts doesn't offer a set for it. It takes serious light and some magnification to highlight the numerals and pointer, but it works better for me than trying to drybrush with paint.

I have white, silver, and red-orange artists' pencils. I find them a lot easier than using paint to detail gauge faces, radios, etc. Black face, white numbers, and a reddish needle is fairly common. Put a little canopy glue over it when you are done and it can look decent.

Does Anyone 3-D Print A Ford 300 Six Cylinder?
Rodent replied to Plowboy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The M50D is very similar to the 3.8L S/C 5-speed, so you could source the trans from a Revellogram Thunderbird S/C (if you could find an engine.....) -
I am a Nova fan, but not by any means an expert. After reading this thread, I did some Googling, and was amazed to see just how different the '68 and '69 dashes really were, including the pad. No, I don't have any helpful suggestions for you on how to backdate the '69 kit interior.

"Good" is not how I would describe the feeble attempt that my dear departed mother made to cook liver, shoe leather and fermented vomit would be a better description from the mind of my then 9 year old palate.

They are probably akin to Lincoln's axe, but it is still cool to see them. I was lucky enough to have a free D.C. trip for work (kinda) in 1998, and we had a few free hours near the Capitol to sightsee. My colleague Lisa and I quickly covered everything "air" in the Smithsonian Air and Space museum, and spent the rest of the time in Natural History. I believe that the museum Ray visited is an annex of the Smithsonian Air and Space?

Happy New Year to all 'yall. For those of you who will be seeing 2023 a few hours before I will, please post and tell us Left Coasters how it is shaping up.....

Except that I don't think the quarter windows roll down in the car in Steve's picture. Is there another body style, or maybe a Pontiac or Olds using the same body that might have windows that roll partly down? Edit: Looking at '39 Chevy dealer brochures, they describe the Master Deluxe trim as having "sliding" rear quarter glass. I haven't found any good pics of what that looks like though.

What did you see on the road today?
Rodent replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The 2011+ 3.7L DOHC is a much different beast than your 4.0L Jim. I believe they are 305 HP and they pull real strong into the upper RPMs. I have had a few over the years as rentals, and they lack nothing in the acceleration department, even with A/T. I tromped down hard on one I had in Maui and was pleasantly surprised to see 6200 RPM upshifts from the slushbox and a banshee shriek from the intake. -

I have the version with included paints. I don't remember where I got it, but I have had it for a while. It has a price tag in USD, so I am pretty sure I "threw it in the cart" when I ordered an issue of MCM from Burbank's House of Hobbies before I subscribed. I have the T1, T2, and T3 campers. If they ever get built, I thought they would look cool together. Guess I should add / clarify that it is a RoG release.

Bought a Quickshine today. It is US compliant, and says that it is made in the US. Wonder how different it is from across the pond?
