And cold beer

I got an email from eBay celebrating their anniversary! It congratulated me on being there from the beginning and gave me a $25 gift certificate! I wondered if there was a catch, I had a $50 order I had yet to pay for so I put in the code.. and it worked! Nothing like a free $25! Did anyone else get this?

And taste good!

Agreed. I’ve read every word on this thread and I’m into how low it sits and how that height accentuates the tall of the Tall T. With an engine sitting this tall, it kinda takes away from the roof height for me. If it was my build I’d be going to keep an engine below the hood line.

Food Vendor Truck

It’s extremely small, way too little for a Ford truck. It may make for an interesting trailer though. -
My Hobby Room

I think it looks just great! You have everything on display, better than a hobby shop! Lightweight shelving is perfect for models! -
What did you see on the road today?

In New Jersey today I saw this huge Ford 4x4 monstrosity and snapped photo one with my phone. My wife yelled, “Don’t be taking pictures while driving! Give me the phone and I’ll take pictures!” And this is what we got... -

Neat build! I love this little bugger, I have found a few of them over the years. To answer the question... the kit was available two ways. One in a box, that version had the interior and glass. Two was a cheaper version, which came in a bag and didn’t have either interior or glass. Afterthought- There was also a Pyro kit. It had a multi piece body.

What year is it?
Tom Geiger replied to Classicgas's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Geoff! In the USA companies can special order vehicles in their special color or even lettered. For instance the Sears appliance fleet of vans was a teal color, Bell Telephone an army green etc. When we see vans later in their lives, we can often see where they originated, with paint still in door jambs and interiors. For instance my A100 van model, the original was originally a Bell van, so I painted interior panels accordingly. -
Wow! Nice builds overall! I have a short memory since I posted in that thread!

A question - were these available as special order fleet colors? In the USA trucks usually could be ordered by businesses in any color they chose. -

Carving one out of limestone? I’d just use the kit body! ? -
The ‘other’ mag is stopping publication
Tom Geiger replied to cruz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Agreed. I was recently told that the editor of Scale Auto was taken by surprise by the cancellation and he had issues planned for over a year in advance with people working on the content. -
Very nice model! It’s nice to see this unusual subject in a kit. First one I’ve seen built too!

Cool! One suggestion, they have holes in the bottom, which look good to mount on straight pins. I stick in and then glue a straight pin as a mount. Just cut the pin to length with wire cutters

What do you drive?

I thought you would’ve bought that rusty Hornet! -
They look good but I hope your wires are long enough. I make some with aluminum tubing that I cut to length with a small hobby tubing cutter. I leave mine pretty long, I can always stuff it into the engine block or cut it shorter but not the other way!

Interesting take! Do you have customers coming into the shop asking you to match the 40% off coupon? Avenel Hobbies closed up shortly after HL opened in town and he said this was a factor, and no he couldn’t match the coupons

Food Vendor Truck
Tom Geiger replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I should! What was holding me off was the load.. I am going to build one of the go carts to ride on it. Very cool progress! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these actually built! -
We have candy!

It was! I do see a booming used parts business on eBay today (with a lot of whining about cost!) and we share parts on message boards to keep us all moving projects forward. We are better off than before the Internet. If indeed that Modelhaus business model of supplying missing parts was a goldmine, someone would have duplicated it by now!
