Back in the day a buddy-o-mine had a 68 Biscayne in an awful repaint flattish green. He drove it for awhile, then told me he it was ready to blow! So he junked it. A week later we saw it driving around town... the new owner worked at a local shopping center and we’d see it parked there for years!

I’ve had things like this happen on Facebook... tried to post a response, hit Respond key, nothing happened. Tried it s couple more times.. nothing! So I give up. I go back on Facebook a few hours later to see I’ve responded like six times.. and at that point when I try to delete the extras it won’t let me! Strange

Many engines mount up fairly insecurely so I always drill a hole through the trans mount and through the trans. I secure it in with a length of straight pin glued in place. Rock solid!

A very cool little build. As u said, a kit for the Tamiya domestic market. We’ve never seen this one in person in the USA. But as these cars are getting older and able to come in as exempt antiqued, we are seeing the odd Japanese market cars.

Dodge Caravan
Tom Geiger replied to #1 model citizen's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Funny story.. my wife’s brother is not a car guy or even remotely mechanical. We were at their house and the two of us jumped into his older Caravan to go to liquor store. I could hear noise from front left wheel and told him to have it checked out.. probably a wheel bearing. He shrugged and said it had been making that noise a long time. Maybe a year later he’s on the NJ Turnpike in the fast lane when it finally let loose! He was all over the road and came to rest in the left shoulder. There was a lot of damage so he junked it. To this day he will tell you Mopars are awful cars and that his Caravan tried to kill him! -

I once had a seller ship a 1963 Chrysler convertible built up in a bubble mailer. Crushed windshield and frame of course. Back in the days before PayPal and buyer protection. Seller responded, “You’re a modeler, fix it!” Appropriate feedback left!

"Holy Grail" Models?
Tom Geiger replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I’m an American but I lived in Europe in the late 1960s and bought the Airfix 1/32s. Great little models with as much if not more detail than US 1/25 kits of that era. I never had the Marina but a bunch of the others. I still have the Mercedes SL and Capri. -
Wow! Your life must be pretty cheery if this is the worst thing that happened to you!

http://Vintagetruckmagazine.com of course! It’s a really nice magazine with lots of light commercial project ideas. I’ve subscribed for years!

Hobby Lobby re-opening
Tom Geiger replied to Mike999's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Another quick walk through my local store.. nothing changed. Same kits, no 67 Chevys. The empty spots all had different kits marked on them. -
Nice save George! I kinda like the original Son of Danger. I might have kept it around for giggles if it wasn’t a rare kit

1918 Harley Davidson
Tom Geiger replied to bbowser's topic in All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
Very nice build. I’ve never been a bike guy but I’m learning a lot from American Pickers. Mike has a passion for very early Indians and Harleys. -
I wouldn’t be overly concerned about your license. No sane cop would ticket you under the circumstances. DMV has been closed here in PA as well. I managed to renew a registration through the website.. you just print your new one. Inspection has been suspended through end of July. Shouldn’t be an issue since that’s done by local garages.
