  1. Super news! I wish her a full recovery. It’s great what medical science can do today!
  2. I love that ambulance! The good part is that it isn’t stretched. Easier to build! The roof is raised a bit but side glass isn’t so you can gauge the height right there
  3. I remember riding around Paris in these as taxi cabs. This was back in late 1960s. As a kid I was impressed with the single spoke steering wheel.
  4. Very cool! It looks right. I have built the roadster right from the box with engine wiring but not the coupe. I should do one as I have a kit from when it first came out. I did use the bomber seats in my 50 Ford pickup roadster.
  5. Wow! That looks really nice! Great first model on the board! Your Pontiac is the last in the line of annual kits, that’s why the tooling has somehow survived. Here’s the three prior years, only sold during their year of manufacture, then the tooling was updated for the next year. 1967 is red. 1968 is green and the 1969 is white. I didn’t build them, I got them this way for my collection.
  6. Reminds me of a story.. a few years ago the morning after NNL East at 7am I was awoken by an irate phone call. I’m half asleep and a guy is yelling that we ran a den of thieves and his bag with purchases was stolen at the show! I ask him what was in the bag.. an unbuilt 66 Mustang fastback like yours, and another Mustang kit. I responded that we had it. He had left it on a vendors table and it was turned in. He doesn’t pause, comes back shouting “and how am I supposed to get it back?” I reply that we’d be happy to mail it to him. I get his info. No change in attitude or thanks. I mailed it out on that week with other show packages. Never heard from him again.
  7. Thanks guys! I found out I’m on my own! I guess I did okay, the saw has to be 25 years old. My wife reminded me I had $50 in Lowes gift cards from Father’s Day, so I’ll go buy new tools!
  8. And my question for the day... anyone know if Sears still does lifetime warranty on power tools? My ancient 1/3 sheet sander gave up the ghost last week and my sawzall just caught fire! I know that one’s over 20 years old. That one is marked “Industrial Reciprocating Saw”.
  9. We had our 2000 Jaguar S about a year when a lady hit it, not stopping at a four way stop. The car was 10 years old and mileage was in the 20s, a beautiful car. Being at 10 year old car that we paid $10,000 for, we didn’t have collision and shouldn’t have had to in that situation. I forget now who was her insurance company but they were vicious and refused to settle. $10,000 car with $5000 damage... they wanted to pay me $5000 and take the car! No compromise, no payment without taking the car. They pretty much said sue us! Talking with friends in the industry, they said some companies were making a profit center out of the damaged cars. They knew they could sell my car for more than they offered me!
  10. It sets up in maybe less than a minute. I generally will glue something and walk away. You can use a kicker on it but be warned... a thick coat with kicker will sometimes expand and more than fill the gap. I had an issue putting a Model A to chassis, it wouldn’t sit flat.. took it apart to find the solid glue sitting there like a shim!
  11. Even as a kid those Quinn Martin Production shows like The FBI were so predictable.. every car was a brand new Ford.. except for the felon car that was going over the cliff! That was always an old anything but a Ford. The minute you saw one on the screen you knew it was toast!
  12. Cool! Nice work!
  13. Yes Artie passed away a few years ago. He was a long time member of TSSMCC and a friend of John Slivoski. He didn’t make many meetings, but he was a scoutmaster in New York and would bring his troop to NNL East.
  14. My father was US Army and we lived in Turkey back in the 1960s... the one thing familiar to us! Coke! We weren’t allowed to eat or drink much from the Turkish economy back then but we could have Coke! Due to lack of refrigeration there, it was drank warm! And when we got back to the US it was tough for us kids to drink it cold, especially with ice! Then in 1969 we moved to Germany. Coke there had a distinct lemon flavor, like you twisted a slice of lemon into your glass. Not bad, just different.
  15. Thanks! The rear wiper.. I don’t know the source, it came out of my parts box. Just try a few until you see one that looks right. I did drill a hole to mount it on a short length of straight pin.
  16. Another option.. the Checkers name and taxi stripes are in the RM 37 or I’d it 38, pickup kit. Dean Milano designed the sheet and wanted to see if folks would use it for a cab. He likes my taxi. The rest of the text is just inkjet decals I made myself. Black is fine for taxis. i do like that taxi decal sheet shown here too!
  17. Here’s the two I own. Above is the coolest old custom. I bought it at NNL East many years ago. Below is my original wagon built nicely with the six. Probably built by an adult, not painted but all the trim is perfectly painted in silver. Both are keepers. I will buy some new ones to mess with. I’m wondering how much of the old tool they have.. if the custom parts and six will be included
  18. Talking with John G at R2 awhile back he said there are a lot more they'd like to if it wasn’t for resources.. both money and manpower! Time to vote with your wallets boys!
  19. I approve as owner of threes Caravans in a row. Had an 84, 90 and still have the 96 Grand Caravan hightop! I built two of this kit, a CV commercial van without rear side glass and a Taxi. I did the rear wiper on that one! Lore is that Lindberg has a promo contract with Chrysler.. they did a convertible and Dakota pickup. Somehow the order was cancelled for the Grand Caravan, which was all new that year. So Lindberg had the tool done and proceeded with a limited run on the kit.. which to their surprise was a sellout, necessitating a second run. Great job on the Model.
  20. Seems around Two is hitting it out of the park! This, Nova Wagon and Falcon race team! Life is good!
  21. Good idea! Every time I’m at a show and a vendor is selling Tamiya sprays at a discount I’d buy a few.. to get home and find I already had unopened cans of the same colors. At least my taste is consistent!
