And you outside!
-
Bridge project continues just like a model project.. was gonna power wash and stain.. then started looking at it and saw a bunch of deck boards could use replacing. Not dangerous, just rotted at an end, so I’m 20 boards into it now!

Help one iota!

That’s really cool! Since you are still at early stage of build I’ll warn you about a shortcoming of the kit. The bottom of the interior is what you see from the bottom. Fit it into the body and you will see the gap on the sides and back. You can see up into the doors! The quick fix is to cut a thin piece of sheet plastic to match the underside of the truck and laminate to interior bottom. And also there is a step down at each door. Makes a major difference!

77 Chevy van
Tom Geiger replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Agreed. I did same with my Dodge vans.. I think I even saved the manifold, carb and air cleaner for a future build since they were invisible from the bottom. Van looks great! I have one of the last issue and should do something with it -
Great job. It’s evident that you are a custom painter! Looking forward to seeing more of your work

Hobby Lobby re-opening
Tom Geiger replied to Mike999's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bingo! When I go there I look to see if there is anything new, and if not, I buy supplies. The stuff I will always use like Testors Dullcote and flat black, an extra bottle of glue etc. I do notice how busy the store is on my way in. For instance if there is a long line I’m not going to buy Dullcote I don’t immediately need. I would wait on the line for a kit I want, but then I engage folks in conversation and make sure everyone knows about the coupon. That’s their penalty for having long lines! -

Hobby Lobby re-opening
Tom Geiger replied to Mike999's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I stopped by my local store on my way to Lowe’s yesterday. No Supernatural Chevy but they seem to have gotten a shipment from the warehouse. Tons of boxes across the rear aisle, people loading merch onto shelves. I’ll check back. With nothing new I just bought a spare can of Testors Dullcote with my magic coupon. -
What do you drive?
Tom Geiger replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A funny thing.. when the convertible first came out I didn’t like it. I thought it was too slab sided. And I thought the rear needed more style, like adding an early Anglia boot. The design eventually grew on me and when I saw this one for sale, I had to buy it! The Turbo is interesting. It has a nice little exhaust gurgle. It’s fine in daily driving. But put the accelerator to the floor and you can spin the front tires. It is pretty fast! Downside is crummy gas mileage on premium fuel! -

Jon it sounds like you need the AMT, former Polar LIghts, Beetle. It was originally the Herbie Love Bug, but the second version was a Cali version. There are some neat custom parts in that kit!

Wheelbase of the Foose '56 F-100?
Tom Geiger replied to Plowboy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Foose didn’t design or build the real one. His team built it for him from his father’s old truck. It is an old episode of Overhauling you may be able to find -

'63 T-Bird yellowed glass
Tom Geiger replied to hedotwo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I don’t remember. I had yellowed glass that had some paint on it. I soaked it to dissolve the paint and was surprised that glass came out clear as well. Maybe up to a week -
That’s what I use. The program is free and can be downloaded from different sites. Just be careful because some sites try to load other stuff along with it or change your browser settings
