Per Bill's comment, here's a bunch of diecast I own in 1/24 and 1/25 scale. I mainly buy things that we don't have and probably will never see in plastic kits. Not only is it nice to have these in scale, but they also are good starts for modeling projects. Some of the parts, like old truck wheels have been resin cast.

Yea! Congratulations Uncle Joe and family! -
Very nice Michelle! Surprised to see you working on something not Mopar! But old Matadors are cool too! I have a couple of those kits

Anyone Getting Ready For Winter?
Tom Geiger replied to OldTrucker's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Winter is coming, I finally gave up and turned the heat on this week. Only needed it to warm the place up in the morning so far! The leaves are falling quickly too! -
Ray's son was at NNL and introduced himself to me. I told him the story of the last time I saw Ray, he was a spectator at NNL East and he seemed really happy. He was pleased with the memory!

Agreed! Thank you very much for the many years of NNL. It is a special thing! We hope to do it proud by continuing the tradition as best we can!

What Did You Have for Dinner?
Tom Geiger replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Something went wrong with my two posts containing photos yesterday! When I open them up now, I don't see thumb nails at the bottom, so I redid all the photos in both posts! Let me know if you can see the photos now. All I can think of, is that I used the site tool to resize the photos. This time I resized them before posting. -
Yes! The book was called "Travels With Charley" so the poodle is Charley

Sources of Plastic for Testing Paint
Tom Geiger replied to Miatatom's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
white plastic spoons are good because they are curved so you can see how the color will look over model body curves. A lot of guys will test not only for compatibility between say primer / base coat / clear coat, but will also experiment with different primers and under coats to achieve different results. -

Congrats Joe! And positive vibes that all is well and the little niece will appear to her own schedule! -
There were people who had come to the John Carlisle swap meet and had no idea what historic event they had stumbled upon. It was interesting to hear some of the comments. One guy was telling another, "They want $10 just to look at their dam model cars!" Both seemed outraged. And of course they had no idea of the event nor that the best models in the country as well as 40 years of historic models were there. And somehow I don't believe they would have appreciated seeing them either!

And to answer the questions about Charlie. Board member Ryan Klarenbeek from Oregon came to our rescue! It's a Tom Coolidge resin piece. Many thanks to Ryan for our Charlie!

What’s everyone using for clear?
Tom Geiger replied to mariojr's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Testors Dullcote! Yea, I'm really not a shiny guy! When I do a shiny paint job, in most cases the paint itself gives off what I call the proper "in scale shine". In real life cars are not mirror shiny unless they are show cars. The only times I will use a clear coat is when the color coat requires one, as I do use a lot of Duplicolor automotive paint. For instance my recent 1950 Ford Jitney bus used a Duplicolor red that dried flat, as it was a two part color on the 1:1 car. In that case I used Tamiya TS13 which comes out perfect every time! -
I hadn't thought about it, but I haven't bought music in maybe 8 years. I have Sirius radio in my car. It came with a free trial and I kept it as I was driving a three hour round trip to work daily back then. Driving less now, but still have it so I seldom have brought a CD out to the car. At home I will tune into YouTube on the computer and let it run music videos, sometimes I pop those up on my big screen TV. My wife has that Google Home that she'll play music on sometimes. There is just so much music available on demand and for free, I haven't had the urge to buy any!

If my rusty memory serves me right his morning, I believe that was about the time that Playing Mantis sold the company to Tomy who really wanted the diecast part of the operation. The 1950 Studebaker was shifted over to diecast and was produced as part of the Johnny Lightning 1/24 scale series. At first it was cancelled and one of the guys involved in the development gave me a factory preproduction sample missing a tail light. Later the diecast came out. And we eventually got the Olds from Revell

1930 Ford Model A Hi-Boy - Steve Caballero´s "Coupe de Cab"
Tom Geiger replied to Koellefornia Kid's topic in Model Cars
Oliver, Very cool model, I especially like the skate board since it's very appropriate to include. Looking at your town location I thought you might enjoy a place I visited recently.... There is a town in New Jersey USA named Cologne. Many of the streets in this town have German names too. -

Okay.... can we see the photos now? They were all showing to me, and appeared in the thumb nails below. I removed them and replaced. Strange, that's never happened before..

Dave, I'm seeing them all. They aren't linked, I embedded them into the post so they are on the site server. Can anyone else see the photos?

Golden Sahara Restored
Tom Geiger replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Geez... all I asked was that people consider looking at things in their historical context! -
I did buy a few things at the toy show attached to the last NNL Nationals.... I'm still fixated on those old Monogram 1/24 scale Model As. I found a Cabriolet for $20 so I grabbed it for future builds. The Blue Bandito was purchased half out of curiosity to see what was in the box and half to get some restoration parts for the original Blue Beetle I'm working on now. It does have the scuba gear I will use. Here's an interesting thing... I was looking for a 1960 Chevy long bed to use on my upcoming Steinbeck camper build. And here I found a beat up old custom for $10 at the show. The bed sides are clean, the rest of it is a mess! See the big door jambs! Our original builder must've used the Autoworld hot knife cutter to get those! It looks like it was never finished. You can see the work someone did to get that asymmetrical custom design going with the cut into the hood and fins on the roof. I had ordered these two from Jeff, and he had them for me to pick up at the show. I got both the postal Jeep and the '63 Valiant wagon. Both are incredibly complete kits, the Jeep came with complete chassis and drive train including an engine and black resin tires. The Valiant has a complete full detail chassis stolen from a '71 Duster kit, as was the body's under hood detail. Note that the Valiant was a curbsider so all this detail was created by Motor City. I also got one of their resin slant six engines. And a visit to RMR gave me their 1961 Falcon 4 door wagon. Had to have it. It should go right onto the 1961 Ranchero chassis. It came with complete interior, hood, steering wheel, tail lights and chromed bumpers. And that's what followed me home!
