But why? It’s a conversation. The participants are happy and having fun. Nobody mentioned religion or politics... From my chair, as long as we’re entertained, not acting up, and are racking up those advertising credits, all should be well.. ? Smile! Be Happy!

This was Sammy. My daughter won him at the fair and brought him home in a plastic bag. We kept him in a small bowl.. then a bigger bowl, and he survived and kept getting bigger. Eventually I put him in a 10 gallon tank with a friend. We had him TEN years! (Note- I forgot his name. I texted the photo to my daughter and she immediately responded with his name!)

"Holy Grail" Models?
Tom Geiger replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Tis a funny thing.. the term “Holy Grail” meant that ONE kit that would make your life complete! Me thinks the term has become diluted! In threads on past boards, guys would put up a list of kits easily bought at Hobby Lobby, and would comment, “Got paid on Friday, went to HL and bought another two of my Holy Grail kits! What ever happened to that one and only kit that would be life changing? -

I was for following someone else’s tutorial! ? They did both the doors and trunk lid this way so they couldn’t get the hinges working in primer, remove the parts to paint and then install them. I agree it’s a very bulky look.

I never had a pet snake. I was a turtle kind of guy! When I was eight years old I got Peter the tortoise. We lived in Turkey at the time. When we moved back to the USA and again when we went to Germany, we managed to smuggle him through in the bottom of my father’s camera case. Peter died when I was 13 in Germany. When I had my first apartment I had two box turtles, Fluffy and Arthur. They had free run of the place and would sit and watch me when I was home, especially when I was cooking and would toss them vegetable bits. I liberated them when I moved, returned them to the field where I got them.

My heart goes out to those of you dealing with aging parents and dementia. My wife and I spent our fifties taking care of our parents until their deaths, so I do understand what you are dealing with. It started when my father was ill with cancer. As we interacted more with my mother we realized she was mentally declining. My father died within two years and my mother lived on for another eight, in a decline until her death. No sooner were we over this, my wife’s parents needed help. They were the nicest people. My father in law had strokes, heart attacks and diabetes. He had very limited use of his right side including his arm. He lost an eye, and both legs to diabetes. He did maintain his faculties and was pleasant and thankful for everything we did for him. My mother in law developed dementia. She was so nice we used to call her Mrs. Cunningham, but as she declined she got the vocabulary of a truck driver and would shift between singing to a doll and cursing at us. In contrast, my mother wasn’t all that pleasant in life, but became the sweetest and most compliant patient. As each of them passed, there was a sense of relief, and a feeling of a job well done since we stuck with them all until the end. People would ask if I was sad to lose our mothers and we’d say that we lost them years ago. We were just relieved that they were free from their situation. For those currently in this situation, you will get through it. My best and most empathetic wishes to you!

A Workaround For Shaky Hands?
Tom Geiger replied to Miatatom's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I get that same hand tremor in my right hand. Mine seems to be when I do some repeat motion like shaking a spray can. My work around is I’ve developed my left hand to do more. I still can do my detail painting with my right hand, but it can act up at any time so I’m cautious. -
When I first saw the locked case when I moved here, I thought it might be a local ordinance or something. Then the local HL opened with no cases! And odd that some HLs have it but others don’t!
