  1. My local Michael’s has that locked rack. Pain in the tail, takes forever to actually get an employee to open it up and bring the can up to the register.. irony? That’s just the Testors rack.. go an aisle over and the big Rustoleum cans are out in the open!
  2. Yup, I occasionally find one in a handful of leaves when I do garden cleanup. I just put them back down and send them on their way! About a month ago on the Next Door local app, a lady was panicking that suddenly there were 100s of tiny snakes in her front yard. The responses were that they must’ve recently hatched, with people responding that they’d come pick some up for their gardens!
  3. Absolutely! I hate that one! I have to turn the radio off when it comes on in the car! It’s one of those ear worms!
  4. Thanks for the trunk tutorial. I’ve done mine the same way, but instead of gluing the wire to the trunk lid, it was inserted into the same tube you used for your pivot, which was glued to the lid. Your way will be less noticeable on the finished model, I’ll have to do it that way in the future. Here’s mine done 30 years ago.. way too noticeable!
  5. I was against adding a Like button because on Facebook it limits real communications. I’ve got posts on Facebook model boards that have 50 Likes and not a single comment. Now that we have it, it would be nice to see who liked your model or post. Otherwise useless! I do agree that the board owner should investigate any means that would increase readership, thus revenue. I don’t want to see it go to a mandatory paid site. A stamp collectors board I’m a member of recently went that route.. a site like this with thousands of members suddenly has 325 paid members. Activity has all but dried up. There hasn’t been a post in the categories I follow in weeks. I would like to see a Donate function, where people could voluntarily donate money for the board’s upkeep.
  6. My wife was headed to the dentist.. so I told her, “You don’t have to pay for this. Tell them to have Car Shield!”
  7. That’s why I drill and pin nearly everything! See the pins in the dark edges, where I’ve pieced the frame together. Then I used a thick slow drying CA.
  8. I’ve always tossed out two piece tires and styrene tires. We have parts boxes guys!
  9. Nice work! One of my favorite kits! I have three of them finished and more to come!
  10. Bummer! Lately eBay pesters me on my phone 15 minutes before an auction I’ve saved ends. Then I take pleasure in accomplishing a 6 second snipe. Still I have missed some when I was outdoors etc, so when I have something I really want I will set it up in eSnipe. If it’s one of those “I will grab it if it’s super cheap” things, I’ll chance it. Sometimes I win, sometimes I cost somebody some money!
  11. This guy! When I was on Sanibel Island back in 2009 I encountered this guy in the middle of the road. There were Turtle Crossing signs but cars were just whizzing by! I stopped and coaxed / protected him to the side he was headed. He was way too heavy to move! And would’ve done damage to a car!
  12. The ads that tick me off are the Progressive motorcycle commercials with the half guys / half motorcycle that look like a guy who lost his legs. Just stupid!
  13. Like Pete, I don’t have a Holy Grail kit, life has been good to me and I’ve managed to find everything I’ve ever wanted during my 30 some years in the hobby as an adult. My Holy Grail was the ever elusive 1966 Valiant promo. Probably the rarest Mopar promo, I don’t believe it ever saw general circulation since the C panel and rear window are incorrect. I wanted one for years and always have had an eBay search active. I’d only find one when my finances wouldn’t allow it. I found this one on eBay some ten years ago. Timing wasn’t exactly right but I figured timing would never be right so I grabbed it on the Buy It Now for $400. Funny thing, the seller actually messaged me to be sure I understood it was a model and not a real car!
  14. Every year a local fellow does a 20 mile walk to raise funds for veterans on Veterans Day, sponsored by a local restaurant. We happened to be there when he completed his journey!
  15. That looks great! I enjoyed following along!
  16. I’ve also got a couple of those. It reminds me of an AMC show car. On the one I started, I also opened up the rear window. I’ve been playing with a Jeepster chassis. Overall the kit is toylike and the pieces are heavy, but a fun starting point for a project.
  17. My rear bumper is plastic. I believe this is a promo or at least was sold as a finished unit since my rear bumper is heat fused in place
  18. Very nice! Great job pulling into one cohesive design!
  19. Late in the Johan life they pieced together a lot of tooling. That’s why some of the Oldies series have later model interiors and wrong trim. Note the 59 Rambler wagon has a 61 or 62 interior. And as mentioned, the plastic varied. Hanley’s main business was injection molded parts to the auto industry and the kits were often run with plastic left over from other projects. Who knows, that blue interior plastic may have been used to make 1:1 GM armrest bases.
