I believe one may be in the Studebaker National Museum. I couldn’t see an inventory on their website but they have a lot of Studebaker prototypes.

New magazine from Kalmbach
Tom Geiger replied to Mike 1017's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I’m waiting for mine... I thought I’d ordered it some time ago, like back when Tim Boyd first mentioned it, but could find no evidence. So I assumed I didn’t. Then last week I see a small charge on a seldom used credit card.. I look it up and it’s Kalmbach. Appears that they didn’t charge credit cards until the issue was imminent. So now I wait for my copy! -

Chevrolet to GMC conversion
Tom Geiger replied to 1st 700 Quad's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Shawn Carpenter did a conversion kit eons ago. You may get lucky on eBay. There wasn’t much to it... tailgate, hood, grille and a diagram on how to cut the Chevy front panel for the GMC grille -
What did you see on the road today?

There was even a Woolworths in downtown Pirmasens, Germany when I was a kid. My first model? 1967 and I was a Cub Scout. My father and I sat down to build my Pinewood Derby car. He was a Studebaker fan since the 1953 Lowry Coupe, and he had an idea. He brought out an Avanti kit I didn't know he had. I'm not sure if it was the Aurora or AMT version. His idea was to build a Pinewood Derby car to match it. The big issue with working with my father was that he did everything and you just got to watch. Same thing later with real car projects. He'd do the brake job while making me clean parts in gasoline. Anyway, he filled in the open seat with wood and shaped the body to resemble the Avanti. It still had the wheels outside the body, and we used two nail heads for head lights. We painted it yellow and black since that was my favorite combo after seeing the movie, "The Yellow Rolls Royce". He taped off the hood so the black was a Vee towards the front. I thought it looked wonderful. I won second place in the derby. I don't know what happened to the Avanti model after that, but it was my first exposure to model cars!

I used to link photos from my Fotki account but ever since this board generously agreed to store all the photos I’ve been sending the photos to the board. Still I have a lot of my photos on Fotki, but I will download them to my phone, then put them on the board. Even though Fotki has been stable for a while, addresses for some photos randomly changed when they moved all their servers, or same will happen if something moves their photos and albums around in their account. And the link will go dead if someone closes their account.

What Did You Have for Dinner?
Tom Geiger replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Last night I made some Giambotta, which is an Italian stew in brown sauce. It has chunks of chicken and sausage, onion, peppers and tiny little potatoes quartered. Im sitting here after working in my garage all day finishing up the leftovers. -
When I did an inventory a few years ago I had over a dozen of the 1950 Ford pickup. I do like this kit, so I took the unsealed ones and dumped them into a plastic tub. That gave me the freedom to try different things, knowing if I screwed up, no worries I had more! I actually went thru three interiors until I got my rat pickup right. I’ve completed two trucks from the tub so far!

Any tasty ones?

Funny thing. My friend Bill called me today. He’s cleaning his model room and we had this same conversation!

I've heard that Hobby Lobby does willy nilly substitute.. in their eyes you ordered a puzzle and they shipped you a puzzle!

When I hear certain songs today, I still mentally hear that click!

One thing that was fun.. during the 24 Hour Build we had a Zoom chat going the entire time. People did come and go but there were a few of us on for the long haul including two fellows from the UK. It was nice to talk with folks and listen to conversation as we all built, and sometimes held up something we were building.

Ha! Cleaning up the garage today. Found these two still in the Hobby Lobby bag. Clearance sale back in December. $7.49 each but never made it into the house! Never missed them!
