  1. A buddy of mine said every build of mine is different, but when he sees a model, he knows it’s mine! I built models as a kid.. back then it was anything I could get. I stopped building but still browsed the model aisle in toy stores and occasionally would buy something, mostly Mopar. I got back to the hobby with two false starts that ended in frustration because I still had my 15 year old skills. I found Scale Auto in a book store and saw a club advertised. I thought I’d join to learn the skills to do my 24 Mopar kits justice. Car wise, I like a wide variety of vehicles. More compact cars than muscle or luxury, odd foreign cars and cars from my youth, 1950s and 1960s cars. I found that I was easily influenced. My new club had a contest for 57 Fords so I suddenly was into them. I met Joe Cavorley, who introduced me to light commercial and weathering, which I suddenly loved! Clubs, shows and message boards introduced me to more areas, so now I’m building a series of old Monogram Model A’s. I love to build old pickups even though I’ve never owned one! I’ve gotten into the history of our hobby and I collect old custom builds from the early days. I carefully restore them as needed, and preserve them as the folk art of our youth. It’s easier to list what I don’t build or have an interest in. I don’t build race cars, no interest in NASCAR, Indy or International racing. I don’t like exotic cars and I have no connection to big rigs. And that box of Mopars that got me into this? I’ve never built a single one of them!
  2. The red plastic on Dodge Caravan is evil! I had one painted light blue with all Duplicolor paint and primer. All was well until someone suggested I give it a clear coat with Testors Extreme Clear. Somehow that reacted and pulled red all the way to the top.. awful!
  3. Very nice! Takes me back to those days! The weathering on your Slant 6 is spot on! The manifold turned color just like that!
  4. I like it! I have a few of those Dodges tucked away to combine with the Lindberg chassis!
  5. Still on the Valiant Speedster.. actually on the computer working out the emblem decals.
  6. Dancing singing skeletons ☠️
  7. That’s fun Pat! A nice variation!
  8. Thanks Alan! I’m stoked! I’m hoping to finish up this weekend.
  9. Super! I have one of these on my unfinished pile... no doubt since the 1980s
  10. I just saw this! You sure did this kit justice! Great work!
  11. I actually forgot I had a workbench thread going for this one! Above is a photo with all the bodywork done better than I thought I’d get it. The voices in my head insisted it needed to be a two tone. I taped it off using Tamiya Tape for the critical line, then finished up with painters blue tape (for those guys who claim Tamiya Tape is too expensive). And I’m quite pleased with the results! I had a little paint lift off with the tape, but fixed it. Shouldn’t notice once the clear is done. Paint is all Duplicolor rattle can. The interior is done too, I just haven’t taken any pix. Right now I’m drawing up Valiant logos for decals. Fun fun!
  12. Mine arrived in the Philadelphia suburbs yesterday. I think my local post office sorts and delivers 4th class mail when they feel like it. I won’t see a magazine, then several arrive same day. Got my Hemming’s Classic Car too! No complaints from me. The magazine looks great! I like the connection to the board too.
  13. It’s a funny thing.. for every rare old car part we need, there’s one on a hook in a shed somewhere!
  14. Welcome! Ask questions, everyone is here to help!
  15. Of course my magazine came when I wasn’t looking! I did a quick look last evening and it looks great! I do like the content from this board!
  16. Go for it Dan! Owa Tagu Siam
  17. I keep seeing there is a car shortage.. then I read there’s a big rental car shortage because they sold all the cars due to the pandemic. Where’d they all go?
