Detail - What is enough?

I’m known for plumbing that goes down and out of sight but isn’t hooked anywhere. I will run a fuel line from the engine mounted fuel pump to the carb and nothing to the tank. Same with brake line from master cylinder and battery cables.. lines up top, tucked in where you don’t see the other end. I used to compete back in the day and did fairly well. Today the cutting edge has gone so far that the same models wouldn’t be competitive today. And today I don’t care. I’ll put cars on contest tables to participate or to share with friends. Many times I’ve met folks from the boards the first time because they recognized my model from photos. -
Looks good! Save that six! It’s the best slant six engine done in our scale!

-2003 P71 Crown Victoria-
Tom Geiger replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ask if seller has the history of the car, these fleet vehicles often have had excellent service histories and you may get that record along with it. A Vic with that mileage is almost new. My brother in law drove for an airport limo company and said some of their cars had 300,000 miles plus. I drove my civie Vic over 200,000 before I got rid of it. -
Does anyone know?

Yea! Pick the Cuda! I’d love to see that one finished! -
Not too late! The Duster chassis is wonderful under any A body! And the engine bay can be easily cut from the body and added to your Barracuda! Go for it!

Speed parts for a Model A 4 cyl,
Tom Geiger replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
No, this is all 1/24 Monogram Model A series parts. The carbs are from the V8, I made the manifold under it -

Jon, I was on the same quest.. in 1:24 Monogram, so I kinda carved out my own... I found this on the Internet.. Which led me here... I made the manifold. Hope this helps.. -
Lookin great! Happy to see it coming along!

Absolutely! Do what you like and what pleases you! It’s a hobby, it’s supposed to be fun! if it’s not fun, don’t do it! I do like to share my models on the Internet, at club meetings and shows. I don’t build to compete. That cutting edge of modeling flew past me years ago. And learning skills like running a lathe don’t appeal to me. I build subject matter that a lot of folks simply don’t get. And that’s fine with me. As long as I look up at my finished builds and say, “Oh yea!” Mission accomplished! -

How long is too long to ship something from ebay
Tom Geiger replied to youpey's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Weird stuff lately.. This month I got a “Return to Sender” on an NNL East postcard that was mailed mid January 2020! And if that wasn’t strange enough, the next day I got back the 2019 card sent to the same person! Spooky stuff! Saturday I got a “Return to Sender” on a tax bill I sent to my mortgage company in Texas.. I mailed it Feb 12 and it took near 2 months to come back? I checked with mortgage company this morning and I had sent it to the right address! I was able to email it to them so it will get paid in time. -

The Walmart flat black doesn’t look all that bad. I collect different brands of blacks and grays to provide contrasts on my models. Ive used mine on chassis and components. It has less depth than Testors or Tamiya flats but dries fast and looks good -
NNL West 2021 - First canceled, now virtual online
Tom Geiger replied to Bernard Kron's topic in Contests and Shows
I wish my friends at NNL West the very best with their event, we are all in this together. I just want to point out that an NNL isn’t supposed to be a contest or competitive. It’s supposed to be a gathering of like minds and sharing of our work with friends. There isn’t a big focus on awards or competition. I know that’s difficult to achieve online. -
I like it and I’ve always been a big Valiant fan. Nice work. Is your friend with the car in your country?
