  1. In the thread about Bob Peeple's Cobra models, I mentioned a notebook that Bob put together. Bob had access for a few weeks to a Daytona Coupe and had access to various Cobras at various times. He took detailed photos, measured every aspect of the cars and compiled very detailed notes. You might ask Danno what was done with that notebook. Last I heard it was going to the GSL Museum along with the work in progress models and was supposed to represent the level of detailed reference compiled to make the detailed models. If that notebook is lost it would be a real shame and a serious loss to the model community.http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/122365-bob-peeples-cobras-at-gsl/ It would solve all of these questions and provide details of parts of the Cobras few people are aware of. The Daytona coupe was disassembled and being restored when all material was gathered. The notebook, if available, should be made into a pdf file and available to other modelers.
  2. Another great one Mark
  3. I am curious as to the whereabouts of Bob's notebook. I do not see it in the photos from the museum. Has that been lost? That would be a real tragedy, losing all the comprehensive measurements and photos that were compiled. Someone should turn that all into a pdf file that modelers can download, perhaps for a small fee.
  4. Sadly, yes that is the case. I had the pleasure of seeing and handling Bob's Cobras just before the Cactus Modelers Club hand delivered them to the GSL Museum. Bob had access to a !:! Daytona Coupe for a few days and took extensive measurements and pictures of the car. He kept a large notebook on the Cobras for reference and his intent was to replicate the cars as accurately as possible. The notebook would really be an excellent source of Cobra information. The notebook and the cars all went to the museum, courtesy of Bob's family.
  5. I believe that Bob's Cobras were made from standard kits but highly modified to be exactly like the real cars. Pretty certain it was personal projects.
  6. Super clean and beautiful! Excellent attention to detail
  7. The original has the correct windshield and rear window heights. The newer AMT is very off on both windows and requires a rework if you want to make it look "right". AMT did both a 66 and a 67 as annuals back in the day, both bodies are excellent, mostly.
  8. No idea of the best size but this place probably has the best material for wheel studs. https://www.modelmotorcars.com/scalehardware/
  9. Thank you very much for the pictures. I was unable to attend this year and was hoping for a great contest and turn out, looks like they achieved complete success. I know a lot of people worked hard to make it happen. Great job Cactus Car Modelers
  10. Made one very small order and it will arrive Monday. Sorry I will miss you at the DSC Randy, would be great to meet you and say howdy. The item I am wanting really badly is the GT40 wheel and tire set, the wide ones for the Fujimi kit. I'll keep watching for new stock. Good luck with the business and the DSC trip. Lots of great modelers at DSC, should be a fun day
  11. Cool looking engine. I have no idea what I would do with one but I will consider one as a future optional engine choice.
  12. Good looking Toyota Jonathan. The only cool, fun sports car that is still affordable to the masses. Wish I had one as a second car, I could have some fun with it, I am sure
  13. MCW used to sell a replacement hood without the shaker scoop hole. However, it was not correct since it lacked the scallops in the sheet metal. The kit hood is correct in that regard but it requires filling the hole carefully.
  14. Rest in peace Harry. Condolences to his family and friends. Another fine modeler lost. Sad to read of Harry's passing.
  15. Sweet!!
  16. Super nice, love the Cobra, all of them!
  17. Great looking T'Bolt collection. All very nicely done
  18. JC, you really do nice work and the attention to detail is very impressive!
  19. Simply the best and fantastic service as well. The carbs are the most accurate of carbs, nothing else even comes close. The tires, wheels and Bronco parts are also perfect. You cannot go wrong with Fireball Modelworks
  20. All the HiPo Ford engines were black from 58-64 (not sure before that) Starting in 65 Ford pained all v8 engines blue until ??
  21. Nice racers. All look very nice
  22. Champagne gold vinyl in 2 tones for all the T-Bolts. Exterior were either Vintage Burgundy or Wimbledon White. The Burgundy is a fine metallic. Racers modded the paint jobs after receiving the cars.
  23. I have to agree. Seems like the paint is the real attention getter, no matter how much detail or modification is involved. Without that eye grabbing paint job it may well be overlooked.
  24. All good information guys, thank you all. I could see that for me, the most likely place I will use a pen would be the little wing windows. It is a pain to BMF that area, seldom comes out smooth and a pen would not only save time, it would look better when finished. I found BMF to be a less than favorite task and anything to help make the task easier by eliminating the hard little areas, is worth a try. I'll buy a 1mm and maybe a 2mm and see what happens.
  25. One day I had this overwhelming urge to get a kit, I forget what it even was, so I had my HL coupon link on my phone and off I went. They actually had the kit on the shelf but with the 40% off the kit was still more money than I could get the kit for from multiple sources. Of course, I bought it and took the hit. I have not been back though. I think HL prices many of their items to offset the 40% off and if you pay full price for something you are really getting beaten up.
