This is something that has happened with a favorite Aunt and my father. The thing that was hardest to deal with was watching someone you have always loved and respected, someone you have admired for not only what they have done professionally, but just the way they have led their lives and interacted with everyone else. Seeing them slip away is disheartening. Don't be afraid to ask for professional help since it will be better for them and your own well-being.

Had both eyes done a month ago. Best thing ever. Use glasses just to read fine print or when doing model detailing. First thing you will notice is how bright it is. Start shopping for some sunglasses, not those things the doctor gives you.

Beautiful looking paint color and finish. All the trim is cleanly done. Like you this kit and the subject brings back many fond memories. While antiquated by todays standards this still builds into a great looking model. I have one on the bench now. As a child I went with my father to pick up a new '49 Ford four door from the Ford dealer. As a young somewhat adult, I have owned a few that never looked this nice. I had a couple of '51's that I really enjoyed driving.

MoPars from this era just look correct with Cragars. Like the interior detailing. The color shows the body lines well.

Love the louvers, wish they never went out of style. Enjoyed watching the way you integrated the parts of the different kits, and the suspension work.

I bought a sheet of the "New and Improved" chrome foil last June at a model swap meet. My experience using it is just like the good old days.

Unless you just wanted a factory color, this shade of green looks good. I used to work with a guy years ago who had a Calypso Corel Boss 302.

Thank you for the additional information on the sensors. This has given me a far better understanding of how exactly the systems work as well as the possibility of false readings. I do like your idea of having a system on board the train to possibly alert the operator when there is an issue.

Only source of info that I have heard on the 10pm news, but something they mentioned that sounded interesting. The talking head was telling about the rails have temperature sensors at different points along the rails that would sense the wheel temperature and depending on how hot the rails sensed the wheels being they would transmit to the train's engineer a warning if the temperature was over a preset amount. The story line was that the sensors had warned of a high temp situation, but the final warning was at a point where it was impassable for the engineer to stop the train in time. My thought is that if these sensors are adjustable as the talking head stated, why are they not set at a temperature that would allow them to stop the train?

I agree with everyone else on the color. Like the slightly modified look. Did you make the cowl induction hood or is this a resin part?

Have you considered looking at the engine from one of Moebius Hudson kits. The engine itself is a pretty detailed engine. The intake and exhaust are on the passenger side and the distributer and oil filler, and filter are on the driver's side of the engine. The one drawback is that it represents their 305 cu in engine that had two carburetors. This wouldn't be hard to change. The air cleaners are of a type designed for low hood clearance and are much like some used on taller upright engines of the day.

I may not have fully grasped what you meant by a "powdery finish". My building has been vehicles exclusively, but I have always been interested in the effects that Military Modelers achieve. I have done only a few with a flat painted surface. One was a pickup that I used a thinned XF-59 Desert Yellow brush paint and was pleased with the finish. I'm enjoying watching your build and like the direction you're going with it.

Not seen many of these built, I think because of the complexity of the roof. Great looking paint and the colors do look like 1959. Nice clean looking trim.

They are fairly common in the KC area. Beautiful trees, but don't hold up well in any high winds. We planted one in our back yard at the old house about twenty years ago. We moved last year. The tree was still thriving today. The only reason maybe because it is protected from the wind by three large Cedar trees that are even taller than the Bradford Pear tree.

Great looking pair. Turning the Dodge into a Class C Motor Home is a great use of the Camper. Like the finishes on the Ramp Truck.

Great looking work truck. The trailer is well done as well. Remember the red shop towel thing well, we used to call the "wicks".

Like the way you built this as a more standard model Firebird. Good color combination and like the added chrome moldings for the vinyl roof.

Always fun to build a model of a car that you feel a personal connection to. I like how you added the side windows and the window moldings between the door glass and the rear window.
