grew up on AMT kits and Round 2 is reissuing them along with the MPC kits. Revell has advanced the design of kits to the point that I would build a subject offered by Revell before I would buy the AMT. While more expensive, I like the design and the assembly as well as the quality of the Moebius kits. I feel that they are worth the extra expense.
Looks great. They offered some really nice colors for the high-end cars from GM. The guy I worked for had a '65 Olds 88 something special with the 455 engine.
Great looking paint job. This looks like something Coke would have used for promotional use, too nice for actual work. Like the idea of opening the interior up and doing the logo on the inside.
Beautiful color combination and finish. The hood stripes add something extra without becoming a focal point. The stance looks good along with the wheels and tires. Might think about a rack for the boards, or roil down the rear window and stick the boards in. You could always hang someone's "Baggies" on the skag to dry on the way home.
Great looking paint finishes. The color you used looks very much like a shade that they offered at that time. I worked for a guy at that time that had a new 88 Olds 4 door hardtop this same color and interior matched. Thought it look nice and never saw it dirty. Proper looking color on the engine.
Try searching ACME Decals in the aftermarket section here on the forum. He offers some great looking interior decals and remember seeing some in the pattern you are needing.
Had the exact same issues as you trying to do a black wash on the grill as well. I used the Tamiya Panel line accent that I usually use but ended up removing it as well. A question on the window trim. Looking online the pictures on Google show a small chrome trim around the front windshield and the rear window. This model seems to have what looks to me anyway, to be an outline of trim and a smaller outline against the window surfaces that looks like it could represent a black rubber molding. I see you're using the larger window molding all the way to the window. I'm trying to sand away the outer moldings and just use the ones close to the windows edge. I like your black paint and I'm doing something like the one drawing on the box.
Interesting build. I happen to be doing the same kit but in more of a street/strip style. I noticed that you were trying to score the door and panel lines as well.
Great looking wagon. Despite the bad jokes of the time, I always thought the Edsel was a good-looking styling. Nice color combination and a smooth paint finish.
