Nice job narrowing the front wheels. A little detailing and they'll look like they came that way.
-
I also like the looks of the seats, just wouldn't want to have to drive very far if I was 1/25th my size. With the narrow tires a Flathead would look good, or even an early OHV V-8.

Dipped in dark chocolate you would at least have to consider it. -
So sorry to hear of your beloved friends passing. They can leave a big hole in your heart for sure.

The light wash helps to show the trim details. I have tried the Tamiya Panel Line Accent paint to do much the same thing. Having used this on door and panel lines it can seem too dark on lighter colors and the model I'm working on now has white as the main body color and have found the Tamiya Panel Line paint in gray works much better in that application. They offer it in other colors as well. Your chrome trim looks great, and the paint finish looks nice and smooth.

Trying to build a model of cars from the past can be very rewarding, but also very frustrating depending of the kits of the car that are available. You mention owning a '55 post Delray Chevrolet. My suggestion if this is still something you're trying to do is to start with an AMT '55 Chevrolet two door post kit that they call a Bel Air trim. You could use the interior parts from the Revell '56 Chevrolet 210 Del Ray model. Both kits are readily available at reasonable prices and are great builders. The AMT kit has very faint front fender trim and this is about the only thing you would need to delete to resemble the 210-trim level. Funny that you mentioned owning a '51 Ford as I also had a couple of those myself.

Good way to tell when it's time to get out the winter coats.

I have to agree. One thing people may not think about with rims like you describe with the make-believe bead lock rims. The added material on one side of a rim, be it on the inner or outer edge, is this can make a wheel harder to balance when mounting tires.

I had bought all of these kits when first released. In fact, I had a couple of duplicates. I only remember starting one when life went through a few changes and by the time I could get back to them they just weren't as interesting as they once were. Sold them a few years ago and with inflation I did get my money back. -

Based on looks alone I would consider trading my Charger for this, just needs a Hemi. Now if we could just get one of the model builders to offer this in 1/25th form, I have a few Hemis in the stash that I would use to build a model of this. Just can't beat these guys for body styling in my mind. -

I'll stir the pot really good. Just my opinion but the best EV is the one hauling golf clubs around. Beyond that I just don't care. -
Another PaddyWagon,kind of.

I like the look as is. You might think about making a nice looking four corner mounting set up so you can display it with or without the bed however you like. -
The only issue I have encountered has to do with the clearance between the headers and the front frame rails and the rear mounting boss for the engine cradle. The drive shaft is about 1/8" to short. The only real extra parts are a stock single four barrel and manifold and a nice set of steel wheels in stock width and wide pair for the slicks. The kit includes a second set of lowering front spindles and the option of a raised rear suspension and matching shocks. I had to drill out the holes in the hood for the air intake but beyond that the kit has not fought me and seems to go together well.

I like the way you did the trim holes in the body. I have one of these that I have threatened to build for years so I'll be interested in seeing what all you do with this.

What did you see on the road today?

That idea may date back to when they also hulled spirits as well. -
I agree, this was one of the prettiest '50's Ford. I think the AMT Edsel kit had an optional continental kit like the one on your friend's car. The spotlights can be found in the Galaxy '48 Chevrolet kits as well as the fog lights. The Revell '48 Ford has a spotlight but only for the driver's side along with some roof lights that could be used for fog lights. Great looking color combination also.

The body seems to have cleaned up well. I remember Fords Emberglow color. That color would even make an Econoline van look good.
-
I wouldn't normally give this kit a second look but seeing what you have in mind does make it sound more appealing. Since this is a build for your wife's cousin is he good with your ideas?
-
Great looking color combination. These are good kits with a lot of fine trim details. Hope you have plenty of BMF.

Good to know that the cost of batteries is improving. I still wonder if an owner of a 5year old vehicle is going to want to spend $4k for a new battery? -
What would YOU like to see as a model

Do I remember the Helms Man? They used to have better doughnuts than most standalone bakeries. -

Despite the questionable acting and story line there were some interesting components in the making of this movie. I'm thinking about the "Race Cars" that the story was about. Many of the scenes with the cars in racing scenes were actual NASCAR events. They did use a lot of real race footage. The cars were prepared by Hendrich Motor Sports and had to qualify each time to get into the race. I think that they had agreed to stay out of the way of anyone really going for the front of the pack and as I recall they would pull out of the race long before it was over so as not to interfere with the race itself. -

I have to agree with most everyone else on the EV issue for new cars and trucks. I'm old and stuck in my ways and sure glad I bought a new Charger a couple of years ago as I'll have to drive it till, I drop. The big MPG figures that have been forced on auto manufactures is one of the main reasons for going EV. A very big problem is already starting to show itself to EV owners now. The grid is woefully inadequate for even todays needs let alone adding thousands of vehicles that have to be recharged all the time. The number of charging stations are far too few and not all of them even use a universal plug-in hook up. Have we thought about when all these batteries are no longer able to hold a charge? Do you have any idea what a replacement battery costs and the disposal fee on the old one? Unless you have a solar panel on your car instead of a sunroof and a windmill helping push you down the road you are going to be indirectly dependent on fossil fuels to produce your electricity. How are you going to figure out how to collect taxes to pay for our roads and infrastructure. All we're doing is trading a headache for an upset stomach on this automotive power situation.
