Great looking color and body trim. Like the sleeper look.

Thanks, that's what I was sort of trying for. I used some Testors Bronze and Clear.

Thankyou Mario, this is a highly recommended kit.

Great looking sleeper. The Maroon color looks good showing the nice body lines. Like the chrome moldings around the side windows. Got to be at the Winter Nationals in Pomona the year the Thunder Bolts were giving the Hemis fits. There was even one painted this color, but I can't remember who's it was.

Great looking color combination and like the stock grill and stance. -
The finishes and detailing of the chassis and engine along with all the other mechanicals are very realistic looking.

I agree, beautiful looking coupe. The shade of green looks just a tad darker than a popular color used years ago that was from the 1957 Pontiac palette.

What are your plans for this little treasure? Build, trade, collect or whatever. -

You would really have to turn up the radio with those tires out on the highway. Likes it. -
Been wondering what had happened to this build. The front and rear "clips" from the AM chassis may be one idea.

I agree with Slusher on the color. That shade of blue will also highlight the body lines on the Corvette. -
Putting an Engine in the '59 Imperial
espo replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Maybe try and find an old AMT '57 Chrysler 300 kit. This has a Hemi engine, and the chassis is a fair representation of a Chrysler chassis of the era. With the inner fenders you would have most if not all the parts you may need to build your Imperial. -
Our Lab would always check what shoes we were wearing. When my wife would come downstairs and had a curtain pair of "tennys" on he knows he was going for a walk and would leap into the air and run and get his leash. Got to the point that we were sure he had learned to spell since we couldn't use certain words, usually referring to food or car rides, without similar reactions. Man, I miss that dog and he's been gone long time, and we still laugh when we remember him.

We used to call that "Diarrhea of the Larynx" at a dealership I used to work at long ago.

Beautiful paint finish and color. Great engine detailing.

You've got to be kidding. I'd ask for the full story behind that trade. Oh, I noticed some snow in the background, that maybe the answer.

Great looking body and trim finishes and colors. Like the windshield band. -
Beautiful paint finish and color. The interior color used gives the interior a realistic looking finish. The wheels and tires make the overall look.
-
Interesting looking color. Like the interior and engine detailing. Great looking wheel and tire combo.

While the emission requirements of that time and what that did to the performance of the larger displacement engines was a very big factor in killing big engine cars. The advent of unleaded fuels, that would become required for the manufacturers to install Catalytic Converters starting in 1975 was part of this. Prior to that many of the '73 and '74 models had their timing retarded, and the compression ratios reduced to the point that they were hard to start, would surge while being driven on flat level ground at any steady speed, and would often keep running when the ignition was shut off. Some of that was caused by the engine running hot with 220- and 230-degree thermostats. When the dealership I was working at received their first '75 Nova with the new body design and the Catalytic Converter we all wanted to know what to expect from the new emission systems on the '75-year model cars. By the time that car was sold, less than a week later, it had over 100 miles on it from the salesmen driving it up and down the highway. The difference was like day and night as the new systems worked that well and this was a Cal. Emission car. We nicknamed the Nova the Silver Bullitt it was that much faster and ran that much smoother. Wouldn't compare to a 1972 or older comparable car, but close and with better gas milage.

Corvettes on the move
espo replied to Earl Marischal's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They were sort of unique at the time. I was working at a Chevrolet dealership at the time and the story as I recall it was this each dealer could order one. Many dealers including my employer put his in storage with the idea that they would increase in value to collectors over time. There was some demand for the ones that were ordered with the optional higher output engine. Living in California at the time the YF5 option Cal. Emission required on anything sold new in California meant we only saw the standard engine cars. Today they don't seem as sought after as they once were. -
What is your NUMBER 1 favorite movie car
espo replied to Thedragsterdude's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
A lot of good car chase movies but Bullitt set the bar in my mind. Between the music and the buildup with the "cat and mouse" just before the chase starts.- 174 replies

Like your vision for this one. Great paint color and the almost stock body with a small block engine.

Great clean looking build. The Smokey logos sort of says it all.
