  1. Clean looking chassis. The area between the differential / frame and tail pipe looks a little crowded in the picture. Don't know if it would even fit with what you're trying to accomplish but had a similar issue on a build once and actually ran the exhaust from the muffler straight back so that it was between the "road" and the differential.
  2. I like the color range you're looking at. Since you are testing some spoons consider TS-21 Gold as a possible base coat or even TS-92 Metallic Orange as a single color only.
  3. How long to wait would also depend on the paint used. Most, and maybe not all, Lacquer paints usually are good within 24 hours based on my experience. Enamels will tend to have a longer drying time depending on the brand of paint used. This is based on paints designed for model building. Hardware store type paints can and often due take longer. David G.'s suggestion of the sniff test may make more sense than you might think.
  4. I was at a show this weekend. A guy came in on a Bicycle. He was in the swap meet area and I think it was his transportation for the day, but it looked cool enough that he could have sold it.
  5. Great looking build and I like the stance.
  6. Paint looks good to me. I would get all your polishing done if needed before starting any foil work.

    1966 Bug

    Great looking paint job.
  8. Many model shows offer a categories for Small, 1/100 to 1/32 - Intermediate, 1/20 to 1/12 - and Large Scale anything over 1/12th scale.
  9. So true. Just read any ad on E Bay for a car with a small block chevy engine, they're all Corvette engines. By the same token you will see every early OHV Ford thru 1957 has a 312 cu in engine, even the 1954 models. Corvette valve covers do not a Corvette engine make and the same goes for T-Bird valve covers. They even had 272 and 292 cu in engines that had valve covers, painted black, that said it was a Thunder Bird engine and fender emblems attesting to it as well. Like you said check the serial numbers and you have to pull a valve cover and look for the casting numbers under them to know for sure. The Corvette FI heads you mention, often called the "camel hump" heads were superseded by far better equipment by the early to mid 1960's anyway.
  10. Beautiful looking Oldsmobile's and the Mont Carlo roofs look like something GM should have done. Great looking paint jobs on both of them.
  11. Nice job on the trailer hinges.
  12. I was going to suggest your friend may want to contact the Towe Auto Museum in Sacramento Ca. I have no affiliation to the museum, but I was living in Sacramento when it was moved there from Montana. The museum was started as a collection devoted to Ford automobiles. I notice that in the last few years, long since I left Sacto. that it is now known as the California Auto Museum and is open to displaying other makes as well. They maybe someone to consider approaching for a possible sale of some of your friends collectables.
  13. This is something that should be in the hands of someone who would appreciate it for what it is and not something to flip on EBay. The '56 model year was the first year that Ford offered the four-door hardtop and some of these promos are of that body style. I think that would add to the value for someone who is really interested in this display. Hope he can find it a good home with someone who would care for it as your friend has.
  14. While it's a nice looking clone, with the after market paint masks out there I think there are more Yanko Deuces now than Yanko ever sold new.
  15. Beautiful looking paint color and very smooth finish. The wood in the bed and the chrome runners look great.
  16. Very clean looking chrome foil. The paint finish looks great, and I like the two-tone treatment.
  17. That was a great kit, would love to see it reissued also.
  18. Going to start looking for this in the hobby shop.
  19. Beautiful looking paint finish and the color looks period correct even if it may not be. Impressive looking foil trim. I always like your studio photography. My '59 Caddy memory has to do with a young lady whose parents had a baby blue Coupe de Ville.
  20. I like the background information on the 1:1 Mustang. Nice to see this was spared from the crusher that is the usual fate for prototypes. Your build looks great and seems to be a perfect recreation of the prototype.
  21. Nice smooth looking paint finish.
  22. Big turnout and some interesting looking cars. I have a thing for '56 Chevy Bel Air post cars like the blue and white one. I just like the Bel Air trim with the post coupe body style.
  23. Think of it as a chance to upgrade to a new paint stand.
  24. Very cleanly detailed interior and engine. Great looking paint and interior combination.
  25. I might get a dog just to see the reaction from the neighbors.
