Great looking details. Should they remake this movie today this is what the vehicle should look like.

Beautiful looking paint and trim. I think I would have painted the trim first and masked that before painting the body.

I finally got to see this movie last night on cable TV. While I enjoyed it overall many parts left me to wonder about the personal relationships and the actions of some of the characters and how they were portrayed. I kept hoping something very bad would happen to the one Ford Exec.

Modern Trend - Plastic Wheel Arch Molding
espo replied to Erik Smith's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Pros: While it will show most scrapes but just not as bad as a glossy painted surface. There are many products on the market to try and maintain its as new appearance. The manufactures focus groups show this is a desirable design element. Cons: They still show any scrapes, and especially if one of these vehicles venture beyond the parking lot at the kid's soccer field. You will get to use products to restore the OEM appearance on a monthly basis and more often if the vehicles are driven in inclement weather. Excellent way to trap moisture between the cladding and the body, this will usually lead to premature body rust in most humid environments. Should one of these Sport Utility vehicles actually go into the woods it is not uncommon to see a few either whole or in parts of the plastic body parts long the narrow trails. As for the manufacturers focus groups. Turns out most of them wouldn't or couldn't buy one anyway. -
Beautiful looking woody. The finishes all look great, and I like the stock style build.
-
Beautiful looking custom. Turning out a body conversion like this is a big undertaking for a beginner. The body lines flow well, and the paint looks great.

Having owned a few convertibles in the past I quickly learned that you don't even try and open the doors when the car was on the rack, and these were full frame cars with factory added X frames. I like the story about your old Corvair. I'll bet you never got a good grade in Music after that. Another possibility depending on your tastes and how you feel about a little fab work. Years ago there used to be an after market single four barrel set up that put the carb in the center above the fan and ran piping to the heads. I don't think that would be hard to do if that is something you would consider.

Best glue for fabrics and styrene?
espo replied to Mike C.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
When you do your flocking are you running it thru a small colander or just laying it on and knock off what doesn't stick ? I just did the carpet on the build I'm working one today. I use a real small colander and used it like a sifter and the flocking breaks down to a real fine texture. -
Might try and do a turbo setup like the Monza Spyder.

AMT 1960 3-in-1 Ford F-100 Pickup Truck
espo replied to rekcirb13's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Thankyou for the back ground info. I'm more of a GM truck type, but I do appreciate a good looking Ford pickup as well. My hope is that one or more of the model companies can find a business plan that would allow them to put out some of the pick up models we all seem to want. -
You may be correct. After looking at your pictures you can plainly see the difference. I guess it must have been the passage of time that made me think that it was correct.

AMT 1960 3-in-1 Ford F-100 Pickup Truck

As mentioned, maybe with Moebius interest in Ford pickups the '60 model and others could be their next project. -
Two Chevy's
espo replied to Chariots of Fire's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Your body modifications on the pickup look like they could have been factory if GM had that much foresight at the time. Gives the appearance of a 1-ton truck. The Suburban body looks great, and the paint finish looks good as well. -

Great theme and finishes. I like the pumper equipment you created. -
Another Chevy build

A lot of well done intricate body details. -
Your model still looks great even after all this time. These were great cars, and I bought a new '66 impala SS back when so I share your appreciation for the '65. Since you now have an air brush and with several companies offering OEM color you might want to try and build another one. Fun to build a copy of a car or truck you had owned in the past and all the good memories that come back to you during the build.

Beautiful looking T/A. I agree with you on the white being the better looking finish. This body style was the best looking F Body. The interior looks great.
-
Great looking Charger. Roadkill does some pretty bazar things with cars and then just sort of do things we can only hope to do but don't dare to. We go from snow to orang barrel season around here.
-
Very cleanly built and trimed looking build. Time has been kind to it, and it still looks freshly built.
-
Great looking build. Unique way the kit did the engine, and the detail painting look good on this. I like the way the interior is done.

I see where others have had shrinking issues with the white Tamiya putty. Since in my own experiance I use very little putty on a project this may explain why I have not had that issue. Now there has been a few builds where I had to use a couple of applications of putty to get the desired shape and finish and this could also be why I have not had any issues. Best to try several different products and find what you are most comfortable working with.
