  1. Ya, I don't think they have any boxes that size. I guess I should have paid more attention to the scale of the model, my bad.
  2. $13.65 for shipping ?? What ever happened to the USPO $5 and it ships packaging ? I have used it in the past and with just a little soft paper packing everything arrived just fine.
  3. I have only used the spray cans but I have found the colors look true on the ones I have done. I had one problem that was really my fault. When MCW says it's Lacquer you should know it's Automotive grade Lacquer and it will attack the plastic even with a primer coat underneath. I suggest testing on a bit of spruce from the kit as that will be the same plastic as your models body and then you'll know for sure weather it will attack the plastic or not.
  4. We may ware this Corvair thing out, but as Mike 999 mentioned they were prone to overheating. I have no first hand knowledge of this problem but I can see where this could be a problem in stop and go traffic or in a poor state of tune. Something I don't recall ever seeing is an Oil Cooler on a Corvair engine. That's not to say they didn't exist, I just never saw one. VW's had and still due have a much better after market support and an Oil Cooler is a very common add on. I have to wonder why I have never seen one on a Corvair. I had several friends who had Corvairs and they were all happy with their service and again I don't remember them ever mentioning overheating being a problem. Most of them may not have been able to recognize the problem if they saw it.
  5. I like the way your interior looks. The rear package shelf now looks more to scale now also. The rear wheel tubs showing adds some interest also.
  6. Very unique looking. I watched most of your build on this. You put a lot of thought and engineering into a very possible 1:1 type build.
  7. Great looking paint finish and the trim is all very clean looking.
  8. Beautiful paint work and as others have mentioned the interior looks great. Knowing this is built box stock I wonder about the supplied chassis as the "Wide Track Look" seems very narrow under underneath. I hope your health has returned for you.
  9. Many years ago I toured Mr. Harrah's Automotive Museum on several occasions. I think Jay Leno would have been impressed. I don't recall the exact year but at the time Mr. Harrah was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee, you remember the big ones with the wood trim and all. The power plant at that time was a duel overhead cam V-12 from on of his import dealerships. I also have seen one of his personal speed boats at the Wood Boat Show at Lake Tahoe. Stainless Steel roof covering the main Solon and an Allison air craft engine for power. I guess when you have that much money your transportation needs are only limited by your imagination.
  10. That looks like a picture from ralph Nader's family album.
  11. As I recall the Oil Pan was shaped like a cookie sheet and was made from sheet metal that was painted black. Since you're probably building something more along the lines of a performance engine I would expect a finned Aluminum pan for additional cooling and eye ball.
  12. More plastic sheets. Built a Gasser out of one of the short roof coupes and removed the back seat area. Just create a new floor and back wall. Maybe even a consol between the seats running all the way from front to the back wall also.
  13. Last night after the CHIEFS won you would think it was the 4th of July. There were industrial strength fire works and one of the neighbors has a Starters Cannon that he likes to fire off on the 4th. The local TV News at 10pm showed the National Weather Service Radar screen that showed the fireworks on the screen there was so much going off. Very close game all the way and somehow the Chiefs come from behind in the 4th quarter to win. A sad note, I just got on my phone from one of our local TV Stations, "one person killed in a fireworks related incident". Very sad to here this. An interesting piece of trivial for those that don't normally follow the Chiefs. This was Andy Reeds 220 win as a head coach, and the date was 02 - 02 - 2020, not into numerology so I'm not sure if it means anything beyond the date. Big parade on Wednesday, and it's supposed to snow Tuesday night.
  14. I enjoyed following your build on this and enjoyed all of the design elements come together. The weathering on both the top and bottom look very realistic.
  15. Very convincing looking rust out on the door and fenders. Was this based on a metal body ?
  16. I like the style of your finish. Reminds me of a car that got polished to the point that the color coat gets worn away. This would happen to vehicles of this era since the paint used was not a durable as what is used today. The Flat Head engine with the Aluminum Heads and duel Carbs look great. The bed looks almost to nice, but I wouldn't change a thing. Well built for sure.
  17. I have converted a few of the engines from older kits with the axel thru the engine setup. I have cut filler pieces out of sheet plastic to glue in the area I'm filling. There will be a curtain amount of body filler but by cutting the filler pieces as close to the size of the hole there is less chance of the filler cracking or shrinking at a later date. The Heads and Intake from this base kit is about the same as the old AMT '49 Mercury that also offered a Hot Rod version of the base Flat Head. So that gives you another source. Like you I also like the old Flat Head engines. I built a Chopped Custom Shoe Box years ago and that was the engine I used since it just looks correct in one of these Kustoms. Another source you could look at would be Replicas & Miniatures Co. They have a lot of great items.
  18. I like your thoughts, but I think most have been changed to the point they might not be put back. The '60 Wagon , I'd be all over that one. I had forgotten about the Buick Special Wagon until you mentioned it. That Trailer, A Frame, Hemi Engine, and all of the other parts would be a great idea if they have the molds. As mentioned above the Nova Wagon and the '64 Chevelle are gone for good. Reissue of the '65 Chevelle Wagon would be the easiest for Round 2 to release again. Now Exotics Builder mentioned the '55 Nomad and that hasn't been reissued for a while and that might actually be the best idea based on all of the optional parts that kit had offered in the past. Should that one be reissued my hope would be that they include all of the goodies. This would help them sell more of the Nomad kits especially too guys like me that are sitting on several of the old reissued kits where they pulled some of the extras. No need to buy another reissue with none of the extras in the box. Now just an off the wall thought for a wagon. What if the '67 Impala Hardtop kit is successful as I hope it will be. How hard would it be for them to create a Wagon body off the data they already have. We know it's a major expense to create a brand new kit, but if they can amortize the expense over a couple of different body styles maybe that would work. Examples would be Revell with the '57 Chevrolet 150 and Bel Air coupes. The '57 Ford Custom coupe and then that Wagon.
  19. Life has given me an opportunity to live in several different parts of the U.S. Weather can change dramatically almost anywhere. I think some of the most unusual weather events I've experienced was while living in California. We lived in Sacramento and my wife's brother and his wife from Kansas City visited us there. This was in the fall and still warm in Sacramento. Daily temps were 80 degrees plus. Being close to Lake Tahoe they wanted to go see the area. We left our home around 9 in the morning and went to the South Shore area, the Casinos you know. At around 1 we're having lunch and it's starting to rain lightly. They're wanting to look around some more and I'm watching the temperature outside. When it got into the 30 degree range I told them we have to leave NOW. I have been up there and seen the weather change from beach and water ski type day to snow storms before the sun goes down. This was becoming one of those days. We headed north to Incline Village NV. and it's starting to stick, maybe a 1/2 inch. We got to State Line and it's getting real stick. Remember I'm a "Flatlander" with Good Year GT tires, all but worthless in any type of snow. We fell in behind an 18 Wheeler heading toward Donner Pass and I'm driving in his tracks for traction. The CHP at Donner Summit is giving me a dirty look but he's trying to keep those who don't know how to drive in the snow out of the ditches. After Donner it's down hill the rest of the way down the mountain. So we're heading down an 8%+ grade in an inch of snow with summer tires. We get to our house and had a BBQ beside the pool that evening. As for Kansas the saying goes "if you don't like the weather just wait, it'll change"
  20. All three are beautifully built. Great paint finish and colors. very nicely detailed trim and engines.
  21. Groundhog what ever day. We're going to be in the 60's today and a Snow storm on Tuesday. Something just isn't right with the weather.
  22. Beautiful looking build. The colors all work together well. Very nice body trim.
  23. Great looking 442. Nice paint work and the engine detailing looks perfect. I'm of an age that I remember when Oldsmobile offered the Red Plastic Inner Fenders on Performance models. I always thought they were different and if you saw an Olds. with those you knew you might have your you know what handed too you.
  24. I like your "McGiver" sanding sticks. Have you thought of an engine choice or is it to early yet ? The body is look'n good.
  25. Your correct that is cleanly built. As for the A Pillar you might even leave it damaged since it would fit in with the theme of the model. You may never have seen one roll on its side at a show, but in practice you can bet it happened more than once. Light clean up and very little detailing and call it good.
