  1. Very clean sharp looking build. You can leave the door handles off that is still a style today on some 1:1 builds.
  2. The only orange color that stands out in my mind for 1969 was the Hugger Orange, I had a '69 Camaro painted that color , if you're looking for a burnt orange color Testors has a couple in their Lacquer series and they are great products and easy to use. Just an after thought on the contrasting color, have you thought of doing Carbon Fiber instead of black ??
  3. I just got done reading about this years TROG in the latest Hot Rod Deluxe, This looks just as if it should have just a very small touch if wet sand on it and it could of been anyone of the cars there. You definitely captured the look.
  4. You may have discovered a new way to weather white walls. The body oxidation especially on the radiator shell looks perfect. I like the oil film on the front of the engine also. I can almost feel the heat and smells coming thru the floor boards now. Great looking build.
  5. Your updates look great.
  6. Man that is bright. My photo gray glasses are still adjusting. When I got down to the photo of the chassis and roll bars is when I see just how much effort you put into what you seldom get to see. This is really a beautiful build.
  7. I really like the overall look. The paint is outstanding. The contrast if the green colored Buick engine and the red body makes you really notice the engine. Your question on the fuel delivery system is that it was done many different ways way back when. The way you went with the fuel rails is probably the neatest and most practical. Some times they would mount a single fuel block on the firewall and run clear fuel lines to each carb. That may be were the term firewall came from. With six carbs. it would have been common to use an electric fuel pump because of the additional fuel pressure required to feed all the carbs. The factory mechanical fuel pumps of that era usually had around 10 lbs. max. pressure and that wouldn't have been enough. I wouldn't sweat the small stuff, the model looks great as is.
  8. I like your idea especially the Orange color. In the photo it looks as if the black on the hood is a gloss rather than a flat black. While the two colors contrast nicely some times people go over board and the car starts looking like a Pumpkin. Just saying it's a hard balance. What shade of orange are you thinking ??
  9. The dash board is really nice. I couldn't tell you what gage it is but I think you're correct about the "opening" to the left is in fact a gage.
  10. I'm using a set of the rereleased AMT tires and the look about equal to an old 750 x 15 tire. They offer both wide white wall and narrow whites. They also have a four tire set with 4- 6.70 x 15 and 4- 9.00 x 15 sizes so you could mix or match a set. They come in a red and white box at most hobby shops.
  11. Thank you for the information. This is the sort of information I was wondering about. From what I saw in the videos the trucks look very sleek and aerodynamic and as I mentioned I was very impressed with what the drivers were able to do with them. It might be a good idea for some of the American truck designers to follow some of these designs.
  12. I'm not familiar with this kit but it looks interesting. I take it you're going to create a more realistic hood hinges ?? The body proportions look perfect and a very nice drive train. I'll enjoy watching what you do with this kit.
  13. I know of what you suggest, but in several of these kits I had gone thru an inventory with a prior "maybe" buyer and the tires were there. I can see over looking a very small part or even have something fall off the tree, but I'm talking about out right pilfering when your busy talking to someone else and find the kit hastily replaced in the display boxes.
  14. I have a general question for those who may have first hand experience with the large trucks used in Europe. The reason I ask is I got lost on YouTube the other day and came across videos of these trucks. First off let me say some of them were about the contests for parking and backing into tight spots. These drivers are truly outstanding. Looking thru these videos the things that I noticed were the wheel bases on the cabs and the trailer both. The cabs seem to be mostly the cab over design which makes since with the tight spots they have to get into. The cabs wheel base at first seems longer than needed until I noticed that the mounting point for the trailer was far closer to the center of the trailer than what I'm used to seeing. The trailer axels, usually three instead of two, at first seemed mounted further toward the center of the trailer. This seemed odd at first until I watched how they got these rigs thru the streets and turned around. I know I'm going to open a hornets nest on this, but compared to what I see on the roads around here any way, these drivers are really pros and interesting to watch how they get these rigs around. Lately here all we've had is drivers running into each other and over the top of cars on the highway. We even had one change his mind in the middle of an off ramp and ran into the guard rail. Shut down one of the major highways for hours as they tried to put out the fire.
  15. This has the perfect OEM look even with the big wheels and tires. What impresses me the most is the engine wiring. Even the correct brake lines off of the master cylinder. The wiring along the firewall really adds to the look.
  16. Great looking bracket. Might it stand out a little more in semi gloss black or is that the way Ford paints them ??
  17. I'm with Tom on this one. The Step Side is just to nice to throw away the bed. I'd look for the Little Red Truck kit as there is quite a few out there.
  18. Glad you mentioned that it started life as a VW. Great mixture of body parts. Front axle turned around, front mounted engine with a drive shaft to the differential ? Extensive plumbing from the super charger to the heads. I'd love to see what you would do if you would only let your imagination run wild.
  19. Your first two pictures the model looks very real.
  20. That is a shame on the paint. Not sure if clear will hide that. Even if you get it smooth to the touch I wonder what the finish will really look like. I wish you well on this.
  21. I had the same window frame issue that seems to be happening to everyone else. Contacted Revell on line and interred a claim. They replied that a new body would be sent in a few weeks. Received the new body in two weeks, pretty good service in my mind. I hope that Revell is able to get a handle on this problem, not that it will keep me or anyone else from buying their products, But it has to be costing them a lot of money until they get it fixed. Money that could be spent developing additional new product for us to buy.
  22. After looking at the 1:1 photos it's easy to see just how far back the tail lights extend. I like the duel quads on the engine. Looks like a lot of work on the hood to make it a Merc.
  23. What has made me mad more than once is to be selling complete models at a show and find the same thing has happened when I got home and was putting things away. I didn't notice at first but one kit looked like the box wouldn't close all the way. When I started looking around I found wheels and tires missing from a couple of kits. These are supposed to be our fellow modelers, very disappointing.

    Copperhead

Great looking paint job and the interior is well detailed. The little touch of color on the wheels add a great deal to the over all look.
  25. I like the color and the tire tread pattern looks neat also. Can't remember when I last saw one of these built.
