  1. I would not recommend gluing the tires to the base. There might come a day you want to display some other model or just remove the model for cleaning. The models I've seen "mounted" usually are tied in someway to the base. Unless you plan to ship the model to someone or plan on it getting knocked around I'd just leave it in the case, and be sure the tires don't allow the model to roll around.
  2. Beautiful looking build. Very clean and a well detailed interior. The local Buick Club has a large display of their members cars every year at the Autorama. They have several GSs and a couple GSXs on display. One in particular is a GSX in white with the Hood Tach., Rear Spoiler, and the Front Spoiler which is supposed to be the prototype that was on a very limited availability . They also have a Black GSX on display. They really look good.
  3. Great looking conversion. Kind of an extended cab of the day.
  4. I guess I misunderstood just what you were trying to accomplish. If you're trying for a flat or semi gloss finish, for example the area between the tail lights on say a '67 thru '69 Camaro, I would try Tamiya products using a brush or spray with a lot of masking of the surrounding area. I'm have not used 1k clear so it maybe that a very light sanding of the area may be needed so that what ever paint you use can get some "bite" for adhesion.
  5. Was this your family's car at one time and just how much do you know about the background of the car?? My family had a '56 Chevrolet 210 Sedan. Looking at the picture, and I understand that some of what I'm seeing in the photo may just be a scratch or something, there looks to be 3 Trim mounting holes above the rear wheel opening and maybe on the drivers door. Was this car repainted or had body work done ? Maybe even a color change if it was repainted. The Trunk Emblem would indicate a 6 cylinder engine. The Chrome Trim along the divide between the White top and the body color would have been present on a 210 model but not the 150, at least in the US. I know that many of the US based cars sold there at that time often used different colors and trim so it's hard to tell.
  6. Very clean looking build. I like your Super Bee series.
  7. Another great build. Best paint as always. Nice to see you put a little Hot Rod touch on a build every now and then.
  8. Beautiful build. Great paint job.
  9. That paint job is outstanding. Great engine detailing.
  10. I like the way you "aged" the finish, very realistic looking.
  11. The '57 Chevy kit is nice to have again but disappointed that they were unable to include the chopped top from the first issue. I'm glad to see the Chevy pickup back and since I used to have a Union 76 station and eventually went to work for Union Oil Company at one of the distribution centers I'll have fun with the decals in that kit. The Buick looks like one I may want to build also.
  12. Great looking build. Even in a Barn the surface rust starts on the chassis and suspension since those parts had little or no paint to protect them. Ya this deserves it's own Diorama for sure.
  13. Very clean well built model. I like the Ford Y Block engine you used.
  14. Very nice. I also like the style of wheels you used.
  15. Neat looking Datsun and an LS engine. I see an inspiration for another model project.
  16. Glad to see this is still moving forward. I have enjoyed watching your "Wood" making.

I also like the pickup idea. After seeing the pictures of the 1:1 truck conversions they look even more interesting. Great job on the conversion work on this. Are you going to keep its XB identity or make it look like a GM truck as shown in the photos ?
  18. I remember reading in one of the enthusiast magazines about a big stash of these engines being offered by the French Army like a War Surplus Sale or something. As I recall H & H Flatheads was going to get some to rework and offer for sale. I don't know if that ever happened as I have never seen them offered, but that was part of the information in the article. One of the reasons for the additional engine weight was supposed to be because of the different alloy makeup of the engine blocks and that would make since with the extreme longevity of the engines in sever service.
  19. I like the Shinny paint idea better anyway. Just mentioned the Oxide Primer if that was what you were thinking. White would be a little different from what you usually see on a Roadster, but that's a good idea to make it standout. A Pearl White would seem almost Kustom. White, just like Black comes in many different shades so the opportunity to make your build standout are very interesting. Without getting carried away just a little hint of color that matches the interior color in some way can also give it a different appearance.
  20. Are thinking Shinny or Primer or Distressed ? This week end I picked up a Tamiya Oxide Red Primer that I'm thinking for a future build. I had never seen it before and the can has all of the Tamiya markings but the only place you will see their name is in small letters giving their name as the distributer and no paint number so this may be something new in their line. If you should go any type of a Primer this might be a thought.
  21. Thank you for the pictures. I'm not a big pickup builder but I would get at least one of the short box Ford F-150's and the Chevy II. I'm already trying to find the '61 Catalina since I understand they're on the shelves somewhere.
  22. Have to ask about the source of the louvered hood and the Carson style top ?
