  1. You seem quite knowledgeable of the subject and NASCAR in general. You might try NASCAR .com and that would get you into current information and then that may offer a way to get more specific information. If you Google Bill Elliot that might offer some options to find sights with additional info. The only real relationship between the production car and the race car had to do with a templet that checked the alignment of the grill, hood, roof and rear deck lid. I just do not recall the different Ford teams of the time. If you can find out who Elliot drove for at that time they may have a web sight were you could get the info you need. I think he was an independent driver /owner at the time. I remember his brother was his crew chief for most of his early career and I believe that his father had a Ford dealership in the south and that was how he got started in racing. Again I'm not 100% sure , but that is what I recall.
  2. The picture looks like the Bill Elliot T-Bird (Million Dollar Bill from Dawsonville) and at that time they may have been required to have a headlight shape just like a production car. In later years the rules changed and they were allowed to have smooth body work in that area and use a decal to represent the headlamps. Almost every year NASCAR would and still does change what they will allow as far as body aero modifications. It will be interesting to watch your build. Are going for a specific year and drivers car ? There are many here far more knowledgeable than I on specific years and rules. I'm sure if you ask they would be more than happy to assist if needed.
  3. I have been using brushes made by the Atlas Brush Co. that I buy at the local hobby store. What I do is get several sets of 2-3 in different sizes and each set is used for a specific brand of paint. The acrylic brushes are first cleaned in water followed by that brands thinner or brush cleaner. The Model Master lacquer brushes are cleaned directly with their Lacquer Thinner. Lacquer does not play nice with water and will turn into a mess. I may be over doing this, but I also have not had any problems since I started doing it this way.
  4. I cheat and buy after market distributors. But there are many here who drill out the kits plastic distributor and glue wires in place and others that have used small diameter tubing for the distributor drive shafts and a second larger diameter for the distributor head and cap.
  5. Beautifully detailed interior and engine. Now Alfa is going to send us the civilian version next year. These a very good looking sedans.

    Some builts

Beautiful builds, and I really like the setting. Don't see 928's very often.
  7. Now that's a Hot Rod, not a Billet Money Pit. The offset mounting for the Carbs. were for the low hood clearance on stock body installations. They may have seen some "ram" effect somewhat like Chryslers Ram Induction systems, but I doubt it.
  8. Great build, you can almost hear the rumble of the exhaust from here.
  9. Very interesting build. Don't remember ever seeing one of these built before. The color happens to be one of my favorites , and the wheels give it an aggressive look. I know little about the 1:1 car, but the rear looks very much like a Mustang.
  10. Nice clean looking build. Sometimes its nice to leave the drivers window down so that the interior is easier to see.
  11. All of your hard work seems to have paid off with a great looking build. You're not alone on the pricing issues, I have to agree. David. I think what looks like a second radio is the controls for the heater and air conditioner. That was the way Pontiac did it at that time.

    1965 Riveria

Beautiful rebuild. I like what you did on the interior seats.
  13. Since this started in 2009 is this already built ? If not the build would be interesting to follow.
  14. Are building a production T-Bird or a NASCAR version? This could be real cool if you are building a street car with the NSASCAR body, but if you're going NASCAR I think you could look at some of the old on line pictures of the racing versions to see. If you're going NASCAR remember that the "headlights" were just decals covering smooth body work in later years.
  15. Have been building and collecting for far to long. A couple of years ago I dumped a couple hundred kits to a reseller just to thin some of the stash and still have more than I could ever hope to build in the time I have left. So my problem is I'm a compulsive buyer. Like so many others I get my weekly 40% coupon for Hobby Lobby and check out what they have. The MSRP there has just gone thru the roof and they really aren't getting much of my money anymore. I did pickup a '69 Camaro Z-28 kit there last week that was marked $19.95 and used the coupon so it wasn't to bad. I have always bought several kits a year from my local hobby store and still buy 90% of my supplies there also. What I have noticed in the last couple of months is that Hobby Lobby has a retail price on a kit that runs from $6 to $8 more than the regular retailer on the same kit, and with the "discount" they really aren't that much different so the last couple of kits are bought at the regular hobby shop. At this point I'm only buying what I just must have and not what I think I may build some day. The new Revell Bronco is interesting but not something that I would normally build so I'm going to pass on that. But it looks like an outstanding kit for those who would. I understand that a Suburban is coming and I'll buy that for sure. As prices continue to rise I think we are already seeing a slow down in overall sales. Hopefully with many exceptions, most people aren't seeing an increase in wages so the model money is being spent for everyday expenses. Maybe as the sell rate drops the model companies may rethink there pricing.
  16. The TR4A looks interesting, but if you rush it you might regret it later. The '32, are you sure you don't want to shop the top?. The "Subby" . Both of these look like they could be finished in a short time. The Kombi is interesting, and I really look forward to the Merc. Woody, but that would take some time to get it just the way you want. What ever you do keep us posted.
  17. That looks more planed than just leftover parts.
  18. This looks like the most detailed kit I have ever seen. In the past I built a couple of Tamiya WRC models and enjoyed them, but this looks so much better. It is a shame that VW is pulling out of WRC next season.
  19. Thank you for the correction. I think I was mixing two different movies with the same basic storyline. I remember "White Lightning" now and that is what I was thinking off. Thunder Road was an earlier movie with Robert Mitchem, I think that's how he spelled his name. In that one he had I think a '51 Ford.
  20. I like the wire wheels on the black car.
  21. I have always admired your builds. These all look perfect. I have to agree with you on the '57 Fords, I have owned two in my life time and still miss them both.
  22. Beautiful build. Hard to beat a well built Tri-Five.
  23. Almost afraid to stick my head up. Has the dust settled? I'd really like to see what James has going on here.
  24. Very interesting build. Very creative interior. The plug wires seem somewhat out of scale. Beautiful paint job.
