  1. Your 1:1 Nova looks to be a Concourse model which replaced the LN from '75. The only real problem might be making a rear package tray for the interior. Your car looks to be a coupe and the model you have to work with is a hatchback. They style Rally Wheels on your car I think can be found in some of the later Camaro models unless you already have some.
  2. Great job on the tail lights. I wouldn't change what you have done here. Years ago when these cars were fairly new some of the other tail light used were anything from Chrysler light setup which looked very much like this but the molding had a sort of chrome wing look on either side. Some used a Mercury tail light that had a triangle look that would run parallel with two sides of the body moldings. Of course a lot of guys just put the '59 Cadillac lamps in and called it done. I think your lamps are much better looking than some of the other options.
  3. When I retired in 2005 I bought a new Pontiac GTO which you would know as a Manero . It was the LS2 with a 6-speed manual. A few years later the General Motors was supposed to bring the UTE to the US but then our economy when in the toilet and GM took the bailout from the government and dropped Pontiac to keep Buicks because they sold big in China. I was ready to trade my GTO for the UTE when all this was going on. Since then my garage has seen a steady stream of new MoPars. But if GM ever starts listening to its customer base again and brings this to the US I'd buy one.
  4. The actual time spent working on the model, and when it gets finished are very different. Life inters in to it. Time spent with family and chores around the house, not to mention the time spent on this site. I may work on a model for an hour before I'm waiting for glue or paint to dry. Start doing other things and before you know it a month has past. I know many here are building machines and crank out great builds all the time, just don't know how they do that.

  6. Thank you for sharing your pictures. Great model show, the cars in the show are outstanding. I lived most of my life in different parts of California and got to see a lot of the customs in southern California in the '50's and '60's. Living in central California in the '70' and northern California until '96. It would seem that there are more chopped tops today than I remember from the '50's and '60's. The paint designs are better than ever and the build quality over all is even better. There are some very talented metal men today as can be seen in the builds. Gives my some inspiration to build some customs instead of muscle cars that I usually do.
  7. Is there a Harley dealer in your area? I'll bet the will sell you a spray can of the real stuff.
  8. More things to worry about than juvenile. If the can still has the propellant it has more pressure than you may realize. I don't have any bright ideas on how to get the paint to come out but there are many others here that can give you something to try. If you're going to write off the can I would suggest as great a distance as possible between you and the can when you open fire.
  9. Look forward to your "wood" treatment on this. I have always just used different pen drawings and paint dabs and clear orange or yellow top coat. This looks like it would be far more interesting.
  10. While Stone Woods and Cook were my all time favorite I think the "sexiest" gasser of all time had to be Big John Mazmanian's Willys followed by his '62 Corvette.

  12. You have done the moldings and the top mounting perfectly. Great detail on the snaps, besides adding strength to the moldings. In my youth a good friend got his mothers '58 Impala Convertible when she got her new '62 Impala. His car was white with a white top and red interior. We removed the full wheel covers and painted the wheels gloss black and added baby moons with narrow white walls. With the glass packs and slightly heated front springs it was a great cruiser. Your build is bring back fond memories. Keep up the great work.
  13. That grill should work great. Like the Tuck n Roll interior. With the sedan delivery you will never see the window frame dip.
  14. It is hard to describe to someone who has never been that close to the track just how that feels. The first time I did it was at the first race held at Ontario California. At that time you could walk down to the fence where that was all that was between you and the track. When 43 NASCAR starters are coming around on the first lap I felt as if it knocked the wind out of me. Years later I worked for Union Oil Company and one of my duties was to help at the fuel distribution station at the road course at Riverside Raceway. This was in the late '60's and we could still get pretty close but by then far more safety barriers were being used.
  15. I understand that they still race on in the rain in Europe. Maybe they just need to have snow tires in addition to rain tires, LOL.
  16. Thank you for the additional photo of how you chopped the top. I knew it was difficult but just never realized how many cuts had to be made to achieve the proper proportions.

    Very nice, would make a great sleeper on the street. Very clean build, like the colors and wheels.
  18. The body lines really flow well. I have been told this body style top is hard to chop and have the rear side windows look right. Yours look perfect.
  19. This is a fun kit and has lots of details, The only real problem areas to look for are the hinges for the trunk and hood. As others have mentioned just take your time. Also the exhaust crossover on front of the engine can interfere with the frame.
  20. Great job on the chop and paint. The exhaust looks much nicer . The in line six is a great idea.
  21. Very nice build, paint and foil look perfect. You are fortunate to find a '67 in such good shape. I see you have the somewhat rare wood steering wheel and full gauges. The Multiplex stereo was a fairly new option also. As you probably know the domed hood with the simulated vents was an option on the SS package and was not standard on even the 427 cars. That may be why you just don't see them often.

  23. Really great looking "show room" type build. You mentioned a problem with the exhaust attachment to the manifolds. This is a normal issue with the tri five Revell kits, not serious but just the way it is. What I have done in the past is to drill the manifold outlet and the exhaust pipes so that I can slip a small length of wire in to help hold them in place for the glue to dry. Being the cheep guy that I am I just use staples from my stapler. Try a #75 or .021 drill bit and you should be close. The pin doesn't have to be very long, just enough to get the parts to stay in place. I have used this method to mount almost every small part. I haven't lost a starter, exhaust manifold or any other fiddly part since I started doing it this way.
  24. Do you have any pin stripe decals ? That's just my thought, and leave it shiny.
