1/72 Gee Bee
cobraman replied to cobraman's topic in All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
Thank you fellows. -
Always liked the little Gee Bee planes . Had some kits in the past but painting the scallops was an issue for me . When I saw this tiny kit that had some decals for the scallops I had to have it . Even with the decals some painting had to be done . The instructions said Humbrol 19 red was a match for the decals . I ordered it and found out it was not a match at all . I decided just to use what red I had which was actually closer . Not terribly happy with it but did the best I could with this tiny thing .

How big is your... stash?
cobraman replied to Pierre Rivard's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
My stash is down to about 45 ( all Cobras ). I have started to thin my stash down my selling some and I have built a few of them. As I get older I decided I need to think ahead so family is not stuck with them. -
I'm building a teeny, tiny 1/72 Gee Bee airplane. The decals give you most of what you need but you do need to fill in with some red paint. The instructions say that Humbrol 19 red is a match for the red on the decals. I order some. It does not match at all. I do have some other red that is closer at least on a test strip of plastic. Hopefully it will be a better match.

Got a chance to work on this one a bit . Body in primer . Chassis almost done . I have never been good at engine wiring and this one is no different . I did not have a distributor so I used a mag that I had . This model is just going to be a custom so anything goes ?? Actually just using this kit as a test bed for some custom paint . The flake will no doubt be out of scale but I just want to experiment with this paint . If anyone has used it please let me know what you think .
