  1. What I would like is to have a '59 Buick or '61 Oldsmobile to customize.... Too bad we don't have kits of them. They looked like customs from the factory......
  2. Do you feel like doing another MoPar? How about the '57 300 from AMT? I've been wanting to customize one of them for a while, just haven't gotten around to it.....
  3. Not all today, but I accomplished quite a bit of material testing on this old MPC Charger body....... First I wanted to see if you could spray DupliColor Perfect Match over WalMart "HomeShades" primer (you can! It works pretty good, just slow drying.....) Then I needed to try out a clear. It's Rustoleum Acrylic lacquer "Crystal Clear"..... The clear turned out to be Very hot, leeching the orange pigment to the surface. However, it polishes out Beautifully! I'm going to try it on a body molded in white to see how it acts there.......
  4. That's an excellent idea, making the roll-top desk your photo-etch station..... Seems you'd lose a lot less parts that way. I work atop a folding card table!
  5. Ron, the forum has the option to "join the conversation" without being logged in...... I bet that is the box you are clicking when trying to reply to something? It would probably send you thru a Captcha and all that to get a reply in....... If you're logged in you have a different reply box, and can post without the Captcha nonsense.......
  6. The funniest Seinfeld episode ever was the one where Frank tells Kramer the War story about him giving the platoon bad meat.....
  7. I'm right there with you on that one.......... Watched that car a lot on television as a kid, love anything to do with it!
  8. I'm really diggin' this project! As for the rear end, the 9 in. would seem more traditional, where the 8.8 would lend to the more modern Pro Tour vibe this seems to have...... This is really cool.
  9. Hey, Fellas.... I thought it would be a neat idea to start a thread devoted to tips for mounting parts for painting. Everyone has their own methods, so it would be cool for you guys to post some ideas for this. Here's a trick I use a bunch...... I glue larger small parts to a clothes pin with Testors orange tube glue. Then I can clip the pin onto something, usually a flap from a shipping box. Once the part is painted, the glue breaks free pretty easily because it can't weld plastic to wood..... So feel free to add to this any tips you have that maybe noone else thought of......
  10. Cool, guys.... Thank You. I was hoping it would have something like StyleLine parts, or at least Lake Pipes..... I guess I'll just build it stock.
  11. Hey, Fellas.... I'm thinking of getting an AMT 1/16 '57 Thunderbird. It's my understanding that there are some custom parts in this kit...... What exactly would those parts be? and Would the custom parts be in the issue that was released in 1989? I've found one on the Bay of E for a good price, and just want to be sure I want it before buying...... Thanks! and any examples you have of the kit, please feel free to post them.....
  12. Just found this this morning....... Really good song! Time & Illusion by Raw Material....
  13. Cool, thanks guys! I don't have an account there, but I may set one up........
  14. Hey, Guys.... I'm in need of some DupliColor paints and was thinking of ordering it from Summit Racing. It's pretty cheap there compared to places like Amazon. I was wondering what their shipping charges were like..... I'll be ordering two colors and a can or two of clear. Their site says you can calculate shipping, but I believe you have to make up an order to do so......... Just wondering if it's worth ordering from them........ Thanks!
  15. I use an ad blocker, but I STILL would pay to use the forum......... anything to help the best site ever.
  16. yet They can't "spare a square"...........
  17. Cool, you got it....... not one of their more popular albums, but it's a good one.
  18. Try going back and editing the op..... be sure to put the file names for the pics in their own paragraph. Like a space between the body and the pic....... I would like to see what you've built.......
  19. You guys will never guess this one....... You awaken with a start, with just the beating of your heart, Just one man beneath the sky, just to live is just too wise.......
  20. Sooooo, since I can use clear lacquer over the old ones to hold them together (I'll be using DupliColor, I hope it works....), what would I use to nestle down the stripes on the GTS? While Applying, not after they have dried onto the body...... I want them to slide around while wet on the body for ease of placement....... Thanks, guys....
  21. Speaking of clear coat, I think I've read that you can just spray a coat of clear lacquer over the old decals and they will hold together....... anyone have experience with that? I know you would have to trim the decals to size after.....
  22. The old decals are just dried out... the sheet's not even tacky anymore. Also, I've tried building the Viper before and had problems with the decals laying down..... So it looks like I'll just have to buy two products, the Liquid Film, and some setting solution. Thanks guys........
  23. Cool. I would like to find a solution that can be used as both a restorer and setting solution........ Thanks
  24. ..... also work as a setting solution? If not, is there a product that will restore old decals, and settle them in place? I have some old decals for a current project and am thinking about a Viper GTS as the next one.... I would like a solution that does both. Thanks for any help!
  25. You know, I'm starting to think that it's not about having toilet paper, but having YOUR BRAND of toilet paper...... nothing like the comfort of familiarity!
