  1. The MPC Fire Truck kit will get you a small block Ford and headers that look similar to what you need. I think one of the versions of the Revell Tweedy Pie will get you most of the rest of the way.
  2. There are a couple versions on Cults if you know someone with a 3d printer.
  3. I trim off as much as I can and then paint over the rest.
  4. I got it figured out, I used a boolean modifier to cut the hole in the tires bigger. I've done more in Blender in the last few days than I did in years before.
  5. I made some progress last night and found a post about how to do what I need online. Once I get to sit down with it tonight I'll try to reproduce the post I found. I'm also going through a video tutorial about the basic controls. In the program I started using 20 years ago you had to manually enter vertices and faces so Blender is a big step up.
  6. I have Blender, I tried to learn it around 10 or so years ago when I was still doing 3d modeling but bounced of it due to the complexity. I downloaded the latest version today and will try again. I know the effort will be worth it if I can figure it out.
  7. When something is sold as a collectible everyone keeps it so there's none of the rarity that drives the value of other things up.
  8. What is a fairly easy easy program for resizing models? I know most of the slicers let you resale the whole model but I want to make the hole in a set of tires bigger without changing the overall diameter.
  9. She accepts it, she has her own things she buys. She does get frustrated if my stuff encroaches on other parts if the house too much.
  10. I've got a spare one of those, pm your address and I'll get it to you.
  11. I got a Phrozen Mini 8k S before the holidays and now got around to setting it up. These are my first prints other than the test prints. I used Lychee slicer and automatic supports. I'm very happy with how these turned out, I figured they would fail a few times just due to the thin and complex shapes. I can see how this gets addictive.
  12. Pieces of sprue or scrap plastic glued in with plenty of liquid glue will make a good, strong patch that you can then sand smooth with a bit of putty.
  13. Awesome, I've been eyeballing them for a long time and never felt like paying the ridiculous price for one.
  14. The engine from the stock version of the Revell 76 Torino might be interesting.
  15. I agree with Bill on all counts. From an advice standpoint, spraying a tad closer to the body will cause your paint to be a bit wetter when it hits the body which will allow it to flow out better. Another thing that can cause this is primer that's not been wet sanded. I didn't believe it until I tried it for myself but it makes a huge difference.
  16. Here are some pics of the 429 from the Torino kit. There are some similar design elements for sure.
  17. Yes, good greens are hard to come by now. I ended up finding a local paint shop that mixed spray cans if you provided the code for what you wanted.
  18. The modern 1/32 snap monster truck tires are 52mm x 36.7mm with 22mm holes. Then there are the ex MPC monster truck tires that were in the 90s snap kits, they're 61mm x 37.5mm with a 27mm hole. This might give you an idea which set would work for what you're doing.
  19. So many folks in the triad, me and Mike are on our lonesome near Charlotte.
  20. I want to build a car from my childhood. In the mid 80s there was a red with silver stripes Mach 1 whose owner worked at a McDonald's we went to a lot. I didn't know what kind of car it was at the time and it had seen better days but it had wide Cragars and slapper bars along with the faded red paint. I want to build it like it must have looked in it's heyday. Something probably like this. I know this is a 73, I honestly don't remember what year the actual car was.
  21. It does, I managed to score a set of those decals from ebay recently. Still, I'd like to see Revells shot at them.
  22. I wonder about this too, I'd love to get a full set of stripes without having to go to the aftermarket.
  23. There's another Pantera tooling out there that seems to have gotten around a bit. I've seen it in Nichimo, Imai, and Airfix boxes. It has the race fender flares and a squarish front air dam and is an old motorized kit too.
  24. The tanks in the Ford Louisville truck are smaller than true semi tanks and might work for you.
  25. I've got the Flintstone part, it's not egregiously thick. I'll probably just stick a few door panel details to the inside and call it good.
