The custom version has some incredibly 80s saw blade wheels and a dual quad tunnel ram intake with velocity stacks. Also a hood with a corresponding hole for said intake and big tires and lift blocks for the rear.

Ok, I've got the Mustang version of this body but it's got the same flared Capri fenders. I don't think you've got enough meat there to just bust out the grinder and go at them. I would use thin strips of round Evergreen plastic to basically fill in the flares from behind. It will need to be at least 1/8 inch thick right to the edge of the wheel lip, maybe even a bit more in the rear since those flares are a bit wider. I tried to highlight the area I'm talking about here in white.

This sounds like a cool build.

Yes, congratulations Kurt. When you look at real Cannonball cars his build would be right at home with them.

The Lindberg Chevelle was reissued buy Round2 in the last few years so it's out there.

Interesting, that's the hood scoop the supercharged version has but the wheels from the tunnel ram car. Since it's marked 2 n 1 it might just have all the parts in it.

Chevrolet to GMC conversion..
Fat Brian replied to michaelbaskett's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
AMT made a GMC style grille for their 88-98 kit but I don't know if anyone is making copies. -
I just ordered a set of 5 ton top loader Rockwells from Ron Olsens Shapeways store. I'll post pics once they get here.

Some of the AMT squarebody Camaro kits have a Weber intake for small block Chevies.

Don Garlits Blow Over
Fat Brian replied to Rider's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
After doing a bit more research on this I found out there was a second blow over in the aero car. The Englishtown '86 wreck was Swamp Rat XXX. The next year in Spokane WA Swamp Rat XXXI had a similar accident at the far end of the track and was completely destroyed. While this is still not the footage I remember it does account for their being a second wreck in the spoon-nosed cars. And for the record, Swamp Rat XXXII went back to a traditional nose with a normal spoiler. -
Decals on a non smooth surface.

Use the product above and also make the jersey gloss then apply a flat coat once the decals are dry. Decals put directly on a matte finish can "silver" around the edge. -

They basically did a new body and interior for the Bigfoot 1 kit. I guess they didn't do a street version because the body isn't stock, it has a tilt hood and expanded wheel arches, and they didn't make any chassis or suspension parts for it. When they did do the 92-96 Ford trucks it doesn't share any parts with this body. -
Ron Olsen has a phantom LS3 based V12 on his 3d Model Specialties store on Shapeways. Everything I've gotten from him has been high quality without needing much if any clean up.

Yeah, it seems like they let a lot of tooling get damaged in that era. -

Yes, it shares most of its chassis and engine parts with the Bigfoot 1 kit. I don't think it's been seen since the Destroyer II, it makes me wonder if when they altered the grille they don't have the stock part anymore. It also seems like a lot of tooling last run in that era is ruined now, that was the last time the original Transtar II was usable and it seems like they can't find the stock chassis for the 88-98 Chevy pickups. -

If they do a real Bigfoot reissue I hope it's the 87-91 kit and not this one. The middle Bigfoot kit hasn't been out in almost 30 years. -
You could definitely put some money in your pocket. I don't know if it's the influx of new or returning builders that are driving prices up or just general economic forces but the market is certainly strong.

The Watanabe 8 spokes have been around since the 60s so they qualify as a period modification. I picked up a set for my Lotus as faux Minilites.

Bigfoot 7 was the truck in Roadhouse. -
Yep, I was incredibly lucky when I scored one for $43+shipping earlier this year. I don't know why they haven't reissued this kit for so long.

I've had better luck using aluminum craft wire, it's soft like solder but keeps its shine better while you work with it. You'll probably want 12 to 16 guage depending on scale and how thick you need the tubes. Here is an exhaust system I made with it. -
I rarely have trouble with the USPS, once I had something sit at the Greensboro NC sorting center for a week buts that's about it. My issues are always with the small independent operators, the story above was with Lasership.

GMC Pro Street Chassis
Fat Brian replied to olschoolkid's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
There isn't really a good donor for a 2wd front suspension for those 1/24 scale square bodies so the Suburban frame is as good a start as any, though it might look a little under scale.
