I bit the bullet this week and ordered the 1mm and 2 mm off Amazon . I'm thinking they would be great for instrument panels, interior door handles and steering wheel horn rings.

How can I get this exact finish on my model wheels?
gtx6970 replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If it were me. I would spray the rims with metalizers buffing aluminum finish,,, then hand paint the spokes in testors silver. DO NOT clear them . The rear wheels on this is just plain metalizers magnesium finish , the fronts are I think aluminum ( car has been done a couple years so I don't remember 100% ) - both then lightly buffed with a Q tip. No clear The interior tins were sprayed in grey primer and sprayed with duplicolor chrome to get a polished aluminum finish, again no clear -
Spent a few days cleaning up flash ( and there was lots of it ) Got the body in primer last nite. Then taped it up to get the yellow for the rear doors painted this morning. . Interior is just testors flat red ( lighting makes it look shinier than it is ) Im also doing the bare metal foil trick on the fender beading pre-paint. Once its all painted, Ill take some lacquer thinner and clean it off prior to clear coats This was one of my favorite shows as a youngster . And Ive had this blueprinter version of the Koach and Dragula for years ,,,waiting patiently. And there day has finally come.

Ive done the saran wrap thing on a 1/1 scale motorcycle gas tank many many many years ago. Your only limitation is your imagination with the pattern you draw in with your fingers. And Ive never thought about trying it on a model . Might have to think about that one.

That would be a pretty easy one to do . To bad the move was less then steller, it had a good sound track if memory serves me right -

I got nuttin . but holy smokes. And I thought the scratch built Weber alone was something, now you making it actually work with a functioning cable and linkages. . you sir are modeling at a different level than 99.999 % of masses. -
Thanks all. My goal from the beginning was replicate the one I did as a kid with only minor upgrades .( BMF in place of silver paint on the trim . ) Im going to order one of the chrome pens to finish off the vent wing frames. I had issues getting the foil to look right on them so I gave up. And Ive decided the tank behind the grill stays in the parts pile. I like this one exactly as is. Ive touched up the drivers side decals along the rocker panel with some semi gloss black. And for the most part its in the case probably never to come out again. Now I need to decide on whats next from the pile ,,,I'm thinking Munsters Koach Thanks again

1959 Dodge kit, will it happen?
gtx6970 replied to '70 Grande's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I could be wrong but I don't think a early style Hemi was avail in anything after 1958 . and even then I think the only car that was Hemi powered in 1958 was the Chrysler 300 -

Thanks fellas, And yes, Even though I have a few more detailed builds in process. I have to get inspired to work on them.,,,and inspiration / inclination is far and few between . Ive been on more of a simpler easy builds path lately. and enjoying the ride much better.

Another one that I had mostly painted from back last fall. Its a re-issue of one of the kits I had as a kid . And wanted to replicate one from a long ,,, loooong time ago. Painted in 2004 Dodge Neon Solar Yellow (I had it on hand because of my daughters personal car,,,,,, it has a very subtle pearl tint to it in person out in the sunlight that I like ) Interior is basic blacks,,,you just cant see any of it thru the red tinted glass. I thought about using the clear glass from the street machine version,,,but if I did , then it wouldn't be the Badman kit I had as a kid . And I'm well aware of the kits faults and inaccuracies . The grille doesn't fit the body right , the hood doesn't fit right and not totally because of the grille , and the decals sucked. The cow catcher front spoiler was left off intentionally. And I cant decide if I like the chrome tank in behind the grill yet or not,,,so for now its in the parts box . But I love it . And I'm glad I finally have one back in my display cabinet as an adult.

One of my grail kits finally coming thru . Ive been after one of these for several years now and always get beat out at the last second. Not this time baby....... I watched it all week on ebay and it stayed reasonable ( as reasonable for what a 68 Coronet usually sells for ) I threw a pretty decent bid at the last few seconds and low and behold. I won,,,and for considerably less than my top bid. All there and completely unpainted / unmodified . This one will probably stay pretty close to the front of the build line. And it will NOT be replica stock . You guys can thank me,,,,, as now that I have one. Someone will announce there is going to be an all new tool produced here soon.

Don't take this as gospel because I'm not all that up on this era Mopar cars . But I think the basic body shape and chassis and underpinnings are shared with a 58 or 59 Desoto. Plymouth I has a considerably different roof line and overall body shape,,,plus has a different wheel base . My personally would like to see a 59 Dodge, as long as it has the interior. Theyre not terribly hard to find and if your patient can be had reasonably,, costs wise . So my gut says this isnt gonna happen ,,,but Ive been wrong before -
SnapTite kits for a 7 year old

Good deal. . Getting the younguns interested is a win win -
I would be interested in a 1970 Plymouth Fury GT , 2 door only. Any of the rest,,no thanks A - if its complete ,,maybe less drivetrain or something. But for me I need the complete interior ,chassis ( promo style is fine ) , the body and hood , the bumpers - grill and glass. If the hood is molded shut not a problem B - if its of modelhaus -or missing link quality . Ehter of the 2 I'll buy site unseen. Otherwise it needs to be in my hand for inspection prior payment

I bought one of the recent issues this past winter at a swap meet for less than $15 . My only plan for it is a parts kit .

No polish - no clear. Just sprayed the grey primer. Sanded it with a scrotchbrite pad and then topcoat it with the "chrome" -
