  1. You would have to read the story behind it. But,,,If I remember right( it's been a while as I've known of this car for several years) But I think the original owner was a tad bit ,,,eccentric / different
  2. That was my first thought,,but for a reasonably accurate 1/25th scale passenger car kit . And considering the complexity of kits today , I would bet just the tooling is near 250K If I had to wager a guess, from initial design/develpoment to a final production kit , but I'll wager a guess of between 750K and 1 million ???? but I'm guessing.
  3. Outside of JJ I can't think of any other known racer who ran a vega wagon ?????
  4. Not that I'm aware of. I did one for myself a few years back,,,,,,just never finished it . Body(painted) with tail panel is done but thats as far as it went. I started with the AMT 1968 Roadrunner . I tried a couple different times to make the grille and the seat patterns (both are 1968 only ) and finally just threw in the towel and stuck it in a box till another day,,,that day hasn't come yet.
  5. No, I am referring to the 2 smaller scoops on the doors of every 1968-1970 charger Not the single large scoop on 1970 Charger R/T only
  6. No dis-respect to Kevin at Missing link. BUT, the 2 scallops in the doors on the revell kit are no where near correct compared to the original mpc and/or the actual car (trust me I have a 1/1 1969 charger in the shop now)
  7. I try not to think of them as investments, but to some degree I usually try to spend my money wisely. Hence I have very little in the stash I personally consider big money collectables. Although I do have quite a bit of vintage MPC/AMT/Johan kits,,,, but none are here because I perceve them as future cash outs for retirement. They are here because I have plans for them,,,,,,,all of them as far as buying a built kit,,, If it's of the subject matter that interests me, I have no problem buying a built kit. I've bought several in the past year. and do actually hunt for built ups on occasion. IF it's of a similar build quality as my own AND I don't already have the same car/subject completed and on the shelf.
  8. Until the Revell new version arrives there is no right or wrong answer . BUT, IMO there will always be a select few who want 'only' the original issue. IF , the new variant is as nice as it appears it will be,, I think it will hurt the original to some degree,,, the Johan less than the original MPC because of the whole Johan mystery/stigma. my personal opinion ( read want list) is the aftermkt will step up will kinds of goodies for the new revell car such as decals sheets ( hint hint)
  9. As far as dimensions all year 1970-1974 Cuda / Barracuda body shells are identical. difference's lie in the ornamentation. such as the grille , sidemarkers and tail lights. Tail light panel itself is the same ( outside of the tail lights themselves) such as recessed license plate , fuel filler etc etc rear valance is the same externally(there are mounting difference's but are not seen once installed ) Grille is obviously different - 1970 - one year only 1971 - one year only 1972-1974 are all the same ( same rule applies the plastic ft valance insert) sidemarkers are the same for 1970-1971 sidemarkers are the same 1972-1974 Outside of drivetrain - virtually nothing interchanges between Challenger and Barracuda - any year
  10. 40 mpg is nuttin My 1996 Contour will easily pull high 30's and will get 40-41 mpg if I nurse it in hi-way driving and it's a 1996
  11. I can see the aftermkt stepping up to do multiple decals sheets of vintage race cars for this kit ( hint hint ) I am thinking AT LEAST a dozen , and thats on top of the 2 builtup original MPC versions I have in the stash
  12. Really nice looking build. This is another one I have on my 'want to do list' ,,,,, someday
  13. Sweet, Got one of these to do in the near future. so the tips along the way are nice info
  14. 1961 Pontiac will be a plus. But the 1965 Comet is most definitly on my want list and has been for some time. And mention of a time frame for either ? is the 1970 Cuda still slated for this fall/winter or has it been pushed back to early 2014 ?
  15. Wouldn't mind see better pictures than this one https://57ccb717-a-62cb3a1a-s-sites.googlegroups.com/site/hartspartsresin/resin-parts-list/conversions/68%20hemi%20dat%20int.JPG?attachauth=ANoY7cpqcpKqesRCAAp9wdf8edjIXR_ECF9O8OHHvSCpsTvuk1ghR7UKPj7vHx3Jeaxv9tRdl_X4wZ7Hcq194wixoAiTIVAlAAm90I_Zhf7NrQm6vbw6CqhujDR84sUGZV0D2e0T7mAQ7iU4V9yv8SNMVQ0eaf5DCDyI237_GoVdxecaQQ8zv8klHjIV5AncgJMPe1m3RRRJhIwbbv_VJkhT_RbZqd0LSux_BcBWqs8EfO5QuxLYqty7gXy_RCMRSSm3L4xPwQmd9N4IUHmONia8QDV6baExFw%3D%3D&attredirects=0
  16. Ok, I have been thinking about picking up one of these for a future build question is, which one ? I don't need a super detailed photo etched nightmare ,,,,,,BUT once completed I want to look into the case and see a Ferrari 250 GTO It can be a curbside or maybe just a basic platform style kit. so, which one and why ?
  17. Really nice. Well done I built one of these last year. and I must say I was very pleased with how well it went together and the finished product.
  18. http://www.ebay.com/itm/JO-HAN-1964-Chrysler-300-Convertible-1-25th-Scale-UNBUILT-KIT-/181224444951?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item2a31d19417&nma=true&si=J%252Bxi19%252B%252BvWAXjkwvPD4J6JNSblc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  19. You are not alone, Foose hasn't done anything yet that appeals to me . And I definitly will not pay extra for a model kit just because his name is on the box
  20. I agree with Harry on this one. Seller has ovboiusly stumbed onto a profitable idea. As far as parting out vintage kits,,,,,,, if no one is willing to pay the price to buy it whole,,,, why not part it out ? A seller can't afford to sit on dead inventory forever and still be profitable. You would be surprised how many people that have vintage kits needing only small parts to complete the one they have. I know a guy who has been doing it for years ,,,and doing quite well at it As far as finding a used junker ( of any kind or any age) that actually has saleable parts on it for $75 ,,,,,,,,,,,,good luck with that
  21. VERY nice, This is one thats been on my 'want to do' list for quite some time. I have a few pictures of the actual car in it's current unrestored state if anyone wants to see them
  22. Who they sponsor( or don't sponsor ) has ZERO influence as to where or who I buy auto parts from ( or any thing I buy actually) .I buy based on service 1st, price 2nd I try my best to buy locally and usually try my local mom and pop shops first for as much as possibile
  23. There was a time when I wanted to go nuts with details on every build I did. Now that I've gotten older, I find myself rarely wanting to do more than maybe plug wires or heater hoses. But mostly now it's an out of the box builds for me ( I don't do contests )
