  1. Thanks Casey, I knew the interior was all new versus the GTX version. Ive had this project in the back of my mind for well over 10 years and I think its time to get started on it while Im still young. I dont have one of these Monogram kits on hand to compare height , width etc. so I cant answer that one. But, If I can just come up with the seats and decals I would probably just modify the seats to fit the Johan interior tub. and call it good enough.
  2. Mark. If you want to cut the decal sheet and interior pieces loose. Pm me please. Im thinking about trying this on my build. I may just use the seats and leave the Johan interior tub alone on it. Ive also considered just use a spare johan back seat and make my own front bench..even though the seat pattern isn't exactly correct
  3. Ok, I have a Johan 1970 Road runner I want to finally get started on to build of my former car . It was black with black bench seat interior. 440 six pack , 4 spd Has anyone ever modified the 1/24th scale Monogram interior to fit a 1/25th scale Johan body ? If so, I looking for ideas
  4. Now that I think about it, I believe your correct. Same square moldings as in a Gran Coupe Barracuda. They were NOT avail in a regular Cuda Another side note, I am 99% sure the gilled rocker moldings as shown here were NOT avail on an AAR Due to the fact they were plastic , and right above a hot exhaust tip ,,,probably not a good idea. Although I have seen several cars with them ( owner added on the car I did )
  5. Nope, avail in any color a regular Barracuda / Cuda was avail in. There are lots of black ones out there. A friend of mine used to own both a black TA and a black AAR. TA had black interior , the AAR had white interior. He sold both a few years back and I think he now owns a B7 blue AAR. which is one of the rarest colors known
  6. AAR grill all other 1970 Barracuda/Cuda
  7. Actually all 1970 ( and 71 ) Barracuda and Cudas have the stainless trim on the outer perimeter of the grill. All other 1970 Barracuda / Cuds the grill is argent silver Exact same colors apply to the lower grill insert in the lower valance
  8. I can assure you its very much an original BS23JOB . AAR, 340 six barrel auto. Plum Crazy Purple, no vinyl top. He has owned this car for ages and will die with this car. I personally restored this car about 8 years ago,,,, and Before the restoration even began and he decided to build the car HIS way. Powered by a Tim Banning / FHO (at For hemis only ) built 484 cu in iron block, aluminum head street Hemi. John Cope built 727 auto. Strange Dana 3.54 . Full 2.5" TTI exhaust. AND we added Vintage air A/C system to keep the occupants nice and comfortable. . This is probably one of the best running/driving street HEMI I've ever been in
  9. I have the 68 Roadrunner and GTX grilles. didn't know the GTX door panels were avail. Now just need seats to finish this one
  10. Same here. And outside of a few one off or prototype cars, there isnt a Corvette made I can get all giggly for. But put something from the mid/late 50s thru about 1970 in front of me,,,, and pretty much ALL of them could be on my wish list. Mainly big cars. ESPECIALLY if the top goes down. 1957 or 58 Bonneville, 1966 GTO , 1967 Gran Prix, 1958 Sunliner, 1959 Desoto Adventurer, 1961 Chrysler 300 . I like Fins and chrome, lots of chrome.
  11. And that my friend is one of the reasons i like it.. its different. Cars to me from that era just ozze pure pizzaz. Especially the individual coachbuilt cars back then. Dont get me wrong ..im a diehard muscle car guy thru and thru. But if i had an unlimited cash flow....one of these would be near the top of my shopping list.
  12. I can snap off a picture of the back end on my amt 1960 Bonneville later today.
  13. For me , it simply doesn't get much better than this. And I'm a diehard Mopar guy. But this one pops my buttons
  14. Same here. On of the best looking cars from the era hands down Gonna have to keep an eye on this build
  15. they are. the coating is made to make the bumper appear to fit closer to the body. The coating also wraps around the ends and fit real snug to the body on the sides this is a car I built for a client / friend of mine a few years back. notice it does NOT say AAR on the rear decal. The man has owned it since late 70s early 80s time frame. And yes, its an original Plum Crazy purple AAR , But he decided from the beginning of the resto to build what HE wanted and purists be damned,,,,,And btw,,,, this particular car has a Dana in it. LOL
  16. Urethane bumpers were avail as just front or front and rear together Just as an FYI, these were NOT just unplated / unpainted steel bumpers. There is actually a rubber / urethane coating on the steel base core
  17. Thanks for the pictures.
  18. Very cool . I bought a built up of his Maverick maybe 8- 10 years ago with plans to take apart and redo. I just cant bring myself to pull it apart for such little gain. I mean this thing still had thread for spark plug wires. I'm afraid it will stay exactly as bought till Im gone. I actually bought several built ups off the same seller. and odds are all with stay as purchased
  19. Laugh all you want. But IMO to go thru the trouble to tool up the AAR specific hood, a complete 340 six pack engine and decals. How much would it have possibly cost to make the correct rear axle , I mean really . the 2 Could have just as easily been all put on the same tree MY personal opinion I was actually more disappointed they didn't fix the exaggerated wheel opening flairs . Those you CAN see in anyones case and HAS stopped me from buying several . Ive bought 2 of the stock issues, 1 of the Sox and Martin kit, I have the body painted for one and thats as far as it got. I just MIGHT buy the AAR ,,,but just as easily might not Im just glad I didnt sell off the few original MPC 1970 annuals I have
  20. My alarm clock went off this morning. its such a buzz kill
  21. its all good in my eyes. Doubtful I'll build more than 1 ,, If I build a 2nd one it will go to a friend of mine who owns a 1/1 That actually HAS a Dana in it. Plus a 484 CU IN Hemi as well , but thats another story . I guess its more wishful thinking on my part. They go thru the trouble to tool up the AAR specific parts yet leave the Dana just boggles my mind
  22. Oldest kit I have completed is my 1958 Bonneville I built this one maybe 3 or 4 years ago Oldest build by me is probably a toss up between my Sox and Martin Roadrunner and this old Monza . I think both were done mid 80s time frame ' ish '
  23. Love it. Mine is still in the box
  24. Agreed With the cost of kits today. Having to buy another kit , or at the very least maybe go aftermkt for a correct diff ( if its avail ) . makes it tough to swallow. its not like these kits are $5.99 anymore Might be an opportunity for some enterprising aftermkt supplier to cast up a rear axle to fit a multitude of Mopar applications . and sell them in maybe a 5 pack or something along those lines
  25. Well, I'm not 100% sure on the torque boxes. So did some asking ,,,will report back EDIT. turns out the AAR Cuda and Challenger T/A did in fact have the hemi torque boxes . I stand corrected
