I think I enjoy restorations the most
gtx6970 replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Same here. Im pretty much to the point sell off al my modern kits ( kits made in the past 25 - 30 years ) And concentrate on my older annuals and drag kit builtups from the late 50s to early 70s This is just the old shelf. Pretty much everything in this shelf was made prior to approx mid 70s time frame. So I think I have more than enough stuff to build in here alone -
I used guitar string to make park brake cables on this . And they sure look the part. BUT IMO. They are far to rigid to use as underhood wiring . This same car I used the smallest detail master wiring I had. Wound several strands / colors together and painted them black . Leaving the different color ends exposed I did this car maybe 25 years ago. One of these days I'll update the ugly kit blob they called a carb

Moebius/Model king 65' Plymouth AWB box art

Should be simple decal change. EXCEPT ....This kit appears to be an auto trans. Where as the Leal car was a 4 spd if memory serves me right -
OD avail in a 64? No I'm sure there was a low performance 3 spd avail. But....I'm not sure it was column shift or not. And it was probably only avail behind a slant six.........MAYBE a poly 318. I know the early max wedge cars ( 1962 -63 ) had a high performance 3 spd but it was floor shift only. Ps......by 64 the 413 was long gone. Very early cars had a 426 max wedge. The hemi arrived early in the model year. A 426 street wedge (single 4 barrel) was avail thru 65

Yes ....and no. For me personally for the most part. I already had the vast majority of the old annuals I wanted by the time they closed up. And I have tried my best to buy them complete over the years . If not I was not opposed to buying a 2nd one to steal parts from and trade or sell off the remains. Just recently I bought a junkyard 1960 mercury builder just for the stock hubcaps and tail light lenses. Then sold the remains on Facebook and got pretty close to my investment back I'm not a big fan of resin in general......unless I absolutely have no other option . Or there is/was no styrene version of what I'm after. But ....... my buying kits in general has slowed DRAMATICALLY the past year or 2 anyway. So to me loosing modelhaus was no big deal. But I can see where there is now a huge loss to the modeling community with them closing up.

Nice. I'm not a customs fan. But down deep I think I need to build one of these

gtx6970 replied to JTRACING's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I dont have either version , I think about buying one of these kits as I would like the pieces to make a 396 convertible. Just never put forth the effort ( $$$$$ ) to make it happen -
I dont know the early cars very well, But I believe the difference is in the floorpan behind the front seats

its GOT to be WAAAAAAY up there. But fun none the less -
Like the title says. Any good model swap meets or shows in the next few months in the southwest AZ area Im planning to dramatically thin the pile down and will be selling off a bunch of kits and individually in facebook groups is a pain

Someone paid $600 for a '68 Coronet Yikes!
gtx6970 replied to Bills72sj's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Price / value is entirely relative to timing https://www.ebay.com/itm/MPC-1968-DODGE-CORONET-R-T-KIT-1768-200-FACTORY-SEALED-/163972792661?epid=0&hash=item262d8a4155%3Ag%3Aq-AAAOSwG8ld5qdh&nma=true&si=%2B%2FCnr47hcWdmZw5oojhMa2i61Dg%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 -

I personally paid $500 for a dead mint sealed 1968 Color Me Gone Charger funny car. Then opened it right in front of the seller. I thought he was gonna have a coronary. Kit itself was perfect but had a tire burn on the decal sheet. Ended up doing some trading a year or so later and found a dead mint decal sheet for it . then sold it a couple years later , even made a little money on it. maybe 10 years ago, I bought a factory sealed Barry Setzer vega funnycar on ebay. Once it arrived it sat here for a few months sealed but I finally gave in and opened it. Kit and sheet were perfect, and I still have it today. Sealed vintage kits have a different following than open kits or builders. its been a few years but there for a while there were maybe 2 or 3 guys bidding against one another and paying some serious change for sealed kits. I watched one guy in the course of a few weeks grab ( all factory sealed ) Multiple MPC Mopar kits. and NONE were under $500 , most were in the $7-800 range. He got a sealed 1970 Challenger for over $1000. And as for comparing MPC 1969 Coronet RT promos to kits ,,,isnt even close. I saw , bid and lost out on all 3 of the 1969 Coronet RT conv promos. Between the 3 of them they topped out at over $8,000 . That one is the holy grail in the Mopar promo world -

Thanks. I've sent an email to MCW. And asked if I can buy just the 1966 grill... Nothing ventured...nothing gained -

Thanks for the pics. I'm aware of the differences. I wish I was more computer literate...but I'm not. Maybe some enterprising individual can take these pics and convert them to be 3d printed. Please !!!! -

Biggest difference is grille and tail lights and decklid trim. I'm not overly concerned with 100% correct interior. But need the exterior trim to be as close as I can get. (I'm in process of buying a 1/1 car )
