  1. I'm curious but very skeptical. To get a decent flow through a small paint booth, you'll need at least 100 cfm of air flow and that's without the added restriction of blowing the air through a column of water. I haven't the foggiest idea how to calculate the amount but I bet that water column would have to be pretty substantial and probably a bit messy.
  2. I only use craft acrylics for interior, chassis and suspension parts. Couldn't ever get the hang of producing a nice finish on a body.
  3. Good luck with craft acrylics. I only spray them on suspension and chassis parts. Never could get them smooth.
  4. Any examples and pics?
  5. Over there, they call them yumps.
  6. I've got 2 of those in my stash. I've heard they aren't the easiest kit to build.
  7. I'm planning some tests with the Duplicolor clear and will post what I discover.
  8. I just bought a quart of Duplicolor clear lacquer BSP-300. Everyone is raving about it and I'm going to give it a try. Amazon has it for $23.95. I've tried Future and had similar results as yours. Do a search for Duplicolor clear lacquer BSP-300 here on the forum for more info.
  9. What Snake said. I always remove all the parts from the sprue, sorting them by color and then sanding them and 95% of the time, I spray them. I usually use strips of masking tape on a flat piece of cardboard if there are lots of parts. If it's just a few, I'll stick them to bamboo skewers with double sided tape.
  10. If all my models were spoons, I'd be happy with my paint work.
  11. That's a clean build. Nice!
  12. Just finished talking about building model cars.
  13. Nice job. I'm trying to finish up one of those like my first car that I ever bought. 61 bubble, black with red interior.
  14. I got back into this hobby after wearing my body out by doing stuff on dirt bikes and going through a bunch of race cars and building several trailers from scratch. Pretty bad back, which actually keeps me from building sometimes. The ones in my stash are all I'll buy (fixed income) and some may never be finished. Depends on how much time there is. As for percentage, I'm at 12 finished, 10 in various stages of completion and 59 unbuilt. I guess that's 12 out of 81 total or about 15% so far.
  15. My plan is to build it like one that one of my best friends owned and then give it to his son. It was my friends favorite car he ever owned. That Big 440 was fast. Yes, I've got a 440 to put in the model.
  16. I liked this idea from the get-go and you pulled it off! I trolled some of the sites you mentioned in your original posts with pics of jalopies and started a reference file of photos. I'm going to do a coupe, probably a 32 5 window like the ones that ran at Greenville-Pickens Speedway back in the mid 50s. My Uncle Roy took me to my first race there.
  17. A great effort especially with the move. I'm ashamed at my lack of progress but I'm getting back to it. One of my future projects is a 67 GTX. What color did you use?
  18. Your work is still what I consider to be THE standard. So glad you're making progress.
  19. Nice recovery, looks good to me, Mark! I finished one today, the first in 11 months.
  20. I've got plans to do a coupe in that era. Good start!
  21. Welcome aboard! You've come to a great place where the knowledge base is off the charts.
