  1. I was wondering what to write for my 1000th post and this subject is a good one to chime in on. There have been times when I've complimented someone even when the car isn't 100% in every category. Sometimes it's because I have one in my stash or it's a 1 : 1 I've owned and other times it's because I think the builder might be a younger person in need of encouragement. Saying "it's the most beautiful and perfect thing in the world" doesn't accomplish anything. I typically don't make those kinds of comments unless the finished product is obviously superior. As for myself, EVERY model I have built has mistakes. I'm sure a lot of the models that are posted, that look great in a picture, also have mistakes too small to see or hidden in some way. 99% of the time, I don't need anyone to tell me what I've done wrong, I can see it for myself. If honest feedback is what you want, take some of your work to a show or have someone near you that's experienced critique it. PS I just finished cataract surgery on both eyes and man, can I see so much better. I had my little shop filled with lights and 4 flood lights attached to the top of my paint booth. It looks like Broadway now. Hopefully, it will help me with my builds.
  2. I didn't know there was 99%. I'll have to look for that. Thanks for the tip.
  3. What brand of primer are you using? My favorite is Tamiya but it's almost impossible to remove. I use 91% IPA for !lacquer removal.
  4. Me too! I have both of their cars in my stash.
  5. Does anyone else think this is a stupid rule?
  6. Once again, they cut away with two hours left in the race and go to FS2, which I don't have. It was supposed to be on FS1.
  7. Once upon a time, I did the same as you and posted the results of a race in the title of a message without letting everyone know that it was a spoiler alert. A few people were upset with me. Some people record the race and watch it when they can. Giving the results in the title without a spoiler alert isn't a good idea. Just saying.
  8. I wonder why they even bother to buy the rights to televise it and then don't?
  9. I've used Future but I might try the clear tip next time.
  10. The full TV schedule is here: http://www.racer.com/tv
  11. I'm working on the Toyota GT One TS 020 as well. Had a Ford GT 40 almost done and ruined the bonnet.
  12. I'm really excited and pulling for the Fords. I read "Go Like Hell" by A. J. Baime a few months back. A Christmas present from my brother. It's all about the Ford Ferrari battle of the 60s. That's really got me pumped for this years 24.
  13. Some suggested frozen water. Another substitute is sand packed into the tubing before bending.
  14. I like that Comet. Here's a 64 Falcon that I used to own.
  15. A very clean build with nice detail. I like it.
  16. If you win $50M, why settle for one? Buy them all!!!
  17. Back in the 90s, I vintage raced with a guy here in Chattanooga that had one of those. Loud, fast and a handful. He was pretty quick in it though.
  18. I've got one of those but I not ready to try it yet.
  19. He's just trying to participate with you in your hobby!
  20. Nicely done and the photos are great!
  21. Most paints that I decant are already thin enough to spray. When I do need to thin paint, I use the stuff you can get at WM for about $15/gallon. I'm not trying to create show quality paint jobs.
  22. The only thing I use craft paints on is chassis pieces and maybe some interior pieces. I usually top it with flat or semigloss acrylic clear, which I mix myself.
  23. Dave, I'm sorry to say it but it's you. Just kidding! I wouldn't take it personal. Maybe everyone is busy with Memorial Day weekend plans and celebrations here in the US.
  24. Nice job! BTW, what is rain?
