Here are several of my favorite paint jobs.  Since I haven't completed or painted a model since 1996 (but I currently have some WIPs ?), these are 25+ year old paint jobs that have survived display, moving, being packed away for years, etc..  All were done with Testors Model Master enamel and air brush.  To the best of my recollection the red and the gold bubble tops and the Thunderbird were all clear coated with Testers gloss clear coat.  I recall that the white top on the Thunderbird was polished paint without clear.  The two pickups were polished without a clear coat.  Trim on all is bare metal foil.

Don't recall posting in this thread.... so many can do a better job than me.  Still my favorite, built last century, and never eclipsed.

Hi Roy!

To paraphrase the old saying: " Everything old LOOKS new again". Bravo!

Thank you!  Very much appreciated.  I've been doing a little painting this week on some WIPs.  Starting to get the feel of the airbrush again.  I have a bunch of old Model Master paint that I think is going to give me trouble.  I need to find a good method of filtering because I'm getting some unexplained debris in the paint that I think is probably small dried/solidified pieces.  I tried a coffee filter but it's hard to get the paint to go through.  Always a challenge at some step in the process!

This ‘41 Willys gasser was my first attempt at candy apple red using Tamiya rattle can lacquers, TS-74 transparent red over TS-21 gold. I clear costed it with TS-13. I have this same Revell kit that I plan to build someday as the Stone-Woods-Cook rival car and rattle can paint it Tamiya transparent blue over silver leaf.

That candy apple red looks killer.  Nice build.

This Willy's just looks great.  Wish I could lay down a paint like that.

Thanks Bob for your compliments on my Willys. I think I clear coated this one with TS-13 after laying down the transparent red. I’m slowly learning ‘best methods’ with Tamiya gloss lacquer color and clear coat rattle cans for me. Things I do are to pre-heat can in hot water, wipe down model with damp paper towel and then wipe dry to discharge static electricity/ reduce dust/ lint, spray multiple thin coats and allow to dry 5-10 min between coats, on final “wet coat”, rotate body around randomly relative to gravity for the first few minutes of drying to prevent wet coat runs. I lucked out on this Willys, most of my gloss jobs have some slight orange peel or semi-gloss to them, I’m definitely still learning....
