unclescott58 Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 (eg everything sucks post-1972)Post-1973. I like those first year GM Colonnade roof intermediates. Scott
Mr. Muppet Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Here's the parts layout. Looks like the custom vertical headlight pods are back, which is awesome. Doesn't look like they restored the bezels for the Edsel style tail lights, which is too bad. Still looks better than any version of this kit that's been readily available in my lifetime, I believe. Should make a fun build...or two...or three.
Don Sikora II Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Looks like bumperettes(?) and/or exhaust dump pipes/tubes, a floor shifter, and dog dish style hubcaps are the newly tooled parts? '90s seats and package tray hound dog made the cut, I see. The hubcaps are probably baby moons.
Tom Geiger Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 The hubcaps are probably baby moons. Ah, the baby moons that were in the kit through the blue car box.
Phirewriter Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 (edited) I'm a bit disappointed at the lack of the Edsel tail light bezels, but am happy to see all the other parts they were able to restore. Jimmy Flintstone offers a Edsel wagon body with separate bezels. Perhaps he might sell just the bezels. Edited March 5, 2017 by Phirewriter

ChrisBcritter Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 And for us completists, there's only one display spotlight instead of the original three (but there are still three lenses). Looks like the front and rear suspension tree is not shown as chrome? Could be a printing error because that tree also has the hood ornament and the smaller custom headlights. Finally, is that the DeSoto front bumper I see just above the stock front bumper? Can't use it without the Styline front end, but it may be good for something.
Dave Darby Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 (edited) Well looking at the parts layout graphic, neither the Flashback nor the 90s update were sympathetic to the tool. You can see where the Flashback's fuel injection manifold partially obliterated the checkered flag trophy. The tree with the suspension is partly stuff that was chrome prior to the 90s update. (And some of of it really still should be, like the smaller quad headlights and gauge pack.) On the other hand, not only do I spy the quad headlight pods (and the headlight bezels that go with them) if you look above the stock front bumper, It sure looks like the Desoto bumper is back. Thats worth the price of admission right there. Also looks like some of the scoops are back too. And at least one of the globe shaped display lights. Edited March 5, 2017 by Dave Darby

That is the right spot for the Desoto bumper, so my hope is that it is. I have a few of the Styline extensions and some old builders around so those parts will come in handy.

Looks like there's a set on the tree with the engine block and another set on the tree with the interior bucket. Been a long time since I looked at one of these, but remember some shallow steelies in the 1980s Ertl kit with the blue car on the box. Don't remember a second set.

Could those actually be the brake drums for the stock/custom wheels that insert into the wheel backs? I don't see the drums anywhere else.

Mark Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 The four wheels grouped with the engine parts are probably the narrow ones that were included in the pre-1993 issues of the kit. They would be used with the baby moon caps and narrow tires. The wheels with the interior tree should be the wide rims used for the drag version, but why there are four of them is a mystery. The drag version used those wide rims only with the slicks, and used two of the narrow rims on the front. The Edsel wagon taillight parts (other than the lenses) are likely long gone. They were grouped with the rear suspension parts, right where the fuel injection intake tubes have been since the drag version was added in 1971.The parts trees in this kit have been cut and pasted quite a bit, probably for the 1993 revision. The suspension parts and exhaust manifolds were plated prior to then, now they are grouped with the rear shocks and interior "animal" which were never plated. Only one wire axle is needed for this kit; the 1993 revision eliminated the notches in the oil pan and engine block.

Roncla Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 That Larsen Vega release date has been bounced back a number of times so far and its now a year way. Makes you wonder what the issue is.
AC Norton Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 That Larsen Vega release date has been bounced back a number of times so far and its now a year way. Makes you wonder what the issue is...... ........I would bet that they have found that converting the Twister Vega / Monza body back to the 74-75 body may be a problem. I think there will be a bit more tweaking than just throwing the front clip on the said body. And who knows, it's possible some of the hardware needed to convert the body is in worse shape than first thought. The only wish I have here, is that if this long delay is a reality, that Round2 improve the kit in other area's all round.....either way, I HATE waiting...lol...............the Ace....

horsepower Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 I'm hopefull it's due to back dating it to 71-72 specs.Just my opinion but I think it would sell better.they can't find a real Vega to get proper measurements from. Every one they find disintegrates into a pile of rust when they try to move it. lol??

The Vega they never could get it right, and the Corvair they did get it at least mostly right in its later years and then they killed it!
