The more I look at it, the more it grows on me.  If I had to nitpick, it could use fewer creases, but that seems to be chronic problem with GM design lately.   It looks best in a dark colour, like this metallic brown.

They're claiming a starting price of 60 thousand US dollars ("Under 60 thousand", but only a dollar under) for supercar performance numbers, so on paper, at least, it's looking like a pretty good deal.

I do like the looks of that, especially without that spoiler! I'd settle for a more traditional looking spoiler such as more of a ducktail shape. 60K for the kind of performance this car's going to give? I'd say that is a SUPER bargain! I'm hearing performance numbers of zero to 60 in LESS than 3 seconds! YIKES! :o

Didn't know if I was going to like it (being adamant about front engine design) but I think it's mean looking. Chevy did a nice job. Just wish I could afford one.

I imagine there's a lot of that going around.  $60K may be a bargain for when you're getting, but that's still a sizable hunk of change for most people.

However, this is what models are for, and this is one the kitmakers should be giving some serious thought to.

Personally I like the looks of it, for the most part. The front end looks great, I like the roof line, the rear end, yes, the rear quarters,  meh... not so much. But over all, not bad.

However, I definitely do not like the wheels on the one above. I'd like to see some options but those aluminum wheels just look too early '90's on a car with definite European design queues.

As far as a model goes, lets really hope Tamiya does this, or at least makes an effort to get the licencing from GM to make this kit. I think it would be a fantastic companion piece to the Ford GT.

I am looking forward to seeing how the new mid engine design run in racing trim.

Past experience suggests that it will be a LONG time before you see it within sniffing distance of $60K.  I recall the 2005 Mustang refresh and that a salesman was trying to push one on me that was only (!) $5k over sticker.  For a V-6.  Street price; probably $85k and up.  Still.....

I really want to like it. It looks good for the most part but the rear end looks a little over designed to me and I can't help but think 488 GTB every time I see it.

That's one of the reasons I build models, I can own every car I love for pennies compared to what a 1:1 costs.

Poor mans Ferrari?

a red car parked on the side of a road: 2020 Chevrolet Corvette

Maybe "moderately well off man's Ferrari".  If they've got one, I might try the "build your car" game once the traffic on the site goes down.  Tried it for the latest NSX and stopped when I reached $190K.  I have expensive tastes.

Ooops, here it is.

honestly I am not much of a fan of Corvettes after 1972, and the pics I'd seen didn't do much for me.  Overall I like the design, but I think the rearend needs work.

Not sure they should have called it a Corvette, but hey, what do I know?

I recall when the '63 split window Sting Ray came out and did I ever want one. I was 15 at the time. Never did get that Corvette. In 84 I test drove one when a local dealer was having a sale. I got close to buying it, I had a call to my insurance man and it was going to be double what I was paying on my '82 Trans Am. Decided I didn't need a Corvette.

This new mid engine Corvette looks like a very cool car and somewhat affordable, especially compared to other mid engine sports cars. A person could buy a 2020 Corvette instead of a Ford GT and have almost $500K left over! Impressive. Unfortunately it has an antiquated OHV engine and a silly paddle shift automatic transmission. Still fast enough and beautiful. Insurance will still be expensive, always has been for fiberglass bodied cars. So, bottom line, I am 72 now and won't be ever buying a Corvette. I did get that Jeep I wanted since I was 7 though :)

I'm just going to leave these right here, and I think comparing the new hideous C8 to a beautiful Fiero is just disgraceful to the Fiero!

I was fully prepared to be underwhelmed by the C8. From the spy shots, it looked like an unimaginative re-packaging of the same old 'vette, at least superficially.

Imagine my surprise...I don't hate it! In fact, it even has shapes and features that make me go "wow". Not a huge fan of the tail end, but overall it's a pretty good-lookin' set of lines.

That black graphic element on the side vent is what really saves the design for me...without it, it would look kinda cheap. So good work, designers!

If the economy was better and GM was more willing to take the risk back then, we could have very well seen this car on the streets! Yes, I like this one a lot too! I've got the kit of this car, but have never touched it. This is one of Bill Mitchell's best designs IMO and this car for a mid engine has better proportions than the new C8.

If I had the bucks though, I'd have that C8 parked at my house!

Pictures don't always do justice, looking forward to seeing one in person. But so far I like what I see.

Sloped nose, aero ridges and valleys, side air intake pods. Of course they are going to look similar. All the mid engine cars look similar. I think they all look like Mclarens from a decade ago, with side intakes added on. I like them all. Corvette will still be, far and away, the best bang for your buck. There will still be folks that consider it a peasant car, even after their Ferrari lost to it on the track.
