Dentz Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 (edited) Ol' St. Nick brought me a 1972 AMT Chevy pick up, AMT Int'l Scout II and a really cool 3n'1 1988 AMT Dodge Daytona Edited December 25, 2018 by Dentz
Ace-Garageguy Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 Nothing under my Christmas tree. Santa skipped me entirely. Not to worry though. I was a greedy pig all year, buying lotsa kits I'll probably never get to. Ho ho ho.

High octane Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 My family knows that I have PLENTY to build so they've been so very kind as not to add to the pile, for which I am grateful.
D. Battista Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 We did'nt put up a tree this year... all the grand kids are in other states.... Santa still left me this though...
Tom Geiger Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 We didn’t put up a tree either, not a single visitor to our house in PA. We have gone to our daughters in NJ for the holiday, so we have plenty of Christmas around us
Joe Handley Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 The newest reissues of the '49 Ford and Coke Machine Show Rod, plus a $30 HobbyLobby gift card from my brother in law, as well as a small pack of the Testors airbrush ready acrylic paints and non-toxic cement from a co-worker.
Snake45 Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 (edited) Santa brought me nothing model-ish, so I didn't feel the least bit bad about receiving my new Revell '68 Chevelle and '69 Boss 302 kits (and about $40 worth of Model Master paints that Hobby Lobby doesn't carry) on Christmas Eve. Neener neener, you fat, bearded, over-rated reindeer jockey! Edited December 26, 2018 by Snake45
cobraman Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Only one thing model related. A 1/18 Acme Fiat dragster die cast kit.
vamach1 Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 (edited) Ordered the Boss 302 but it is not due for a few days. Nothing else on my wish wish except maybe the 1/12 GT500 that I never bought but wish I had. Like many years I bought more kits and built ups than that I built. Edited December 26, 2018 by vamach1
Tom Geiger Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 No model related Christmas gifts for me! I tell family not to, since I buy what I want at pretty good discounts and it would bother me to have them buying wrong or duplicate kits at full retail. So I got some new shirts and a pair of pint glasses engraved with my name. My wife and I are too practical and don’t exchange gifts. This year was all about my one year old granddaughter learning how to tear wrapping paper off presents and her excitement! Can’t beat that!

This year was all about my one year old granddaughter learning how to tear wrapping paper off presents and her excitement! Can’t beat that! I have a niece with a 16 month ago boy. And it was a lot fun to watch him at his first Christmas where he's kind of aware of what's going on. He loves the song Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, and will point at his or others noses when it's being song. He liked the toys he got. But, had much more fun with a box he could sit in. Little kids + Christmas. That's what it's all about to me. The best gift other than watching my grandnephew, was seeing my nieces reactions to what I got for them and their significant others. I am a very avid reader. And love the classics. So they asked that I buy books for each of them for Christmas. As they've enjoyed that in the past from me. So, I got each one a copy of one my all time favorite books. An unabridged copy of the Count of Monte Cristo. The reaction was better than I hoped. I'm really looking forward to hearing their thoughts as they read the book. Little Noah, the grandnephew got a copy of one of my favorite kid's books, Bad Kitty. Sorry to have stray off coarse. No models under the tree for me. But, I'm glad about that. I buy what I want and like model wise for myself all year round. And I hate to disappoint others because I didn't show enough enthusiasm because I either dislike or already have the kit they picked out. I have told friends and family to not even try. I enjoy their company much more than anything else they can give me.
Ensis Ferrae Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 My parents gave my a Hasegawa Lancia 037 . . . . though between Turkey Genocide Day and christmas, I gifted myself quite a few kits due to the closest model shop to me closing its doors permanently. That haul includes a 1970 Challenger R/T (the Vanishing Point challenger kit), Mel's Drive-In Hudson Hornet, a 3-in-1 kit of a Cobra "race team" (1950 Ford Pickup, trailer, and 1963 Shelby Cobra), 1970 VW "Superbug Gasser" kit by AMT, Italeri Ford Escort II rally car, AMT's Enterprise D, and AMT's USS Reliant
Roadrunner Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 This was my only vehicle related gift, but it's pretty darned cool.
THarrison351 Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 (edited) My wife started asking me three months ago what I wanted or needed (within reason) for my Christmas present. This is always hard, because usually I just get whatever I need when I need it. I really couldn't think of anything until I had to clear off the basement aux dining table I had been using for model building. My model tools were in the hobby room and on the dining table and I would have to walk from one end of the basement to the other when I worked. My hobby room is still a progress in work. Hopefully, I can finish it this coming year. Now I have a temporary space there to build models, but no good place to store the tools. So I thought, maybe a bigger or better organized tackle box than the one I've had for the last 20 or so years. The problem is the drawers/shelves I find are too shallow for bottle paint. My current box has deeper spaces than anything I could find. I even looked at make-up artist storage boxes. Oddly enough, a tool cart popped up while I was searching and a light bulb went off. I did some searching and found what I wanted at Harbor Freight. Pulled out my 20% coupon and off I went. I was ready to spend around $200. Well, you can't use a 20% for tool carts or other tool storage systems, but the sales person said if I looked up the online sale on the day I was there, the 4 drawer tech carts were on sale for $109.99 and available in my favorite tool box color, black. I also received a few unexpected gifts from my wife, son, his wife and Santa. I've already started decorating it. I pulled the plasticky US General emblem off and put my old style Craftsman sticker like my work tool box. The Advance sticker came from when I worked there from 1999-2012, 2014-2016 part time. I really learned a lot. Another story, another day. The metal sign on the right was from my wife, the picture on the left, came from my son, Christmas last year. The tools came from Santa. I've never used a scalpel or a panel scribe (left side), but I've heard good things and look forward to trying. The hemostats are OK quality, I'll see how they hold up. The Allison Mercury, and the Grand Prix are from my son and his wife. Current favorite driver. Finally found a place to stick all of these stickers from work. I didn't want them on my work tool box. They're paper and the lighting and sunlight bleaches the heck out of them. One last thing. It came disassembled and is heavy and awkward to carry. The main box with drawers and lid is pre-assembled, but the rest has to be put together. It took me about two hours which included gathering tools, a table, a chair and numerous trips up and down the stairs out to the garage. Only tools ended up used, were a 1/4" ratchet, 6' extension, socket, combo wrench and a Gearwrench. All nuts are 1/2". Overall pretty easy. Edited December 27, 2018 by THarrison351
Tom Geiger Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Tim, when I started to read your post I immediately thought about my tool box. This is a cheapie small replica of a real mechanics tool box, but too light for real use. My father had bought it and I wound up with it when he died. It's perfect for the model room. I keep all my tools in it and can roll it where ever needed.

martinfan5 Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 (edited) Not pictured is a second new air compressor that wife got me (to replace the other new one I got that quit working a month after I got it)and was nice enough to let me have it before Christmas ( it never made it under the tree) Edited December 29, 2018 by martinfan5
HomerS Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 I gave up years ago answering family/in-laws when asked what I want for Christmas as I truly believe they use that as a target what NOT to get me. Bought myself this off the InterWeb as I only saw one at a show and it was far more than I was looking to pay. Pic plagiarized from eBay
