Scale Rodder Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 (edited) Hello. One year silence and i`m here again. Desoto base is Johan recycling body. Donor kit is AMT Chrysler 300 and it was give chassis and the interior parts. Vacuum formed glass, hood and Long Ram intake parts are from modelhaus. Engine block is from Lindberg 64 Dodge kit and mix of other Mopar kit spare parts. Job is take a long time and was full of fitting parts and modification again, again and again but nonetheles interesting and fun. I know original Desoto is unibody chassis without separate frame but hey it`s metal and not impossible thing to do that way in reality. Anyway i think this look more realistic solution than original Johan model. Silver Machine name is stolen from Hawkwind Band. Edited February 24, 2019 by Scale Rodder
espo Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Excellent combination of bits and parts. I like the way you painted the pattern on the roof. Nicely detailed engine and interior.
StevenGuthmiller Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Nice work! I'm no fan of customs, but this one is very tastefully done! The wheels aren't hideous and it's not painted some putrid "day glow" green! I like the fact that you chose a nice Mopar power plant option and refrained from chopping holes in the hood for some gigantic blower or a mismatched hood scoop. The interior is tasteful and the stance looks great! Great job! Steve

Tom Geiger Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Very cool! Very nice work under that hood! I've had the '60 Desoto kit out recently and was fiddling a bit myself!
Koellefornia Kid Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Great paint job, great stance, great details! I love the mild custom look on this one! Very well done!
geetee66 Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Oh boy! I DO like this! that engine is superb and I totally dig the roof. On top of all that, it's a rarely seen build here. You did it real justice ??
Lunajammer Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Whoa. Wasn't expecting that. You really did some work here, lots of subtle details. Excellent.
Spex84 Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 Nice save! The nicely detailed engine surprised me; it looks just right in that big engine bay. I wish these DeSoto kits were still commonly available; I'd buy one for sure.
Scale Rodder Posted February 26, 2019 Author Posted February 26, 2019 Thank you everyone very much. Nice to see so many comments here. Whole project story is here http://www.fcma.fi/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=13024 Language is maybe weird but check pictures.
Ron Hamilton Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 Very nice concept and execution. It gives me an idea of how to deal with my Johan 60 Chrysler New Yorker that I have to restore.
BeakDoc Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 I like customs when they’re not completely over the top. I love this one. Great looking build.
