Sam I Am Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 (edited) So as a kid in the mid '70s I was impressed with a Lime Green Challenger that was jacked up so high in the back that I could see the complete rear end housing hanging below everything else....while sitting in the back seat of my moms 65 Olds.... while parked directly behind the Challenger. That vision was what I had in mind when I built this GTX. I think I nailed the era. Shackled, air shocked, with really wide Cragers. Oh, and that Challenger was jacked MUCH higher than this one. TonyW Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 That's a Car Craft, circa 1976, cover car! You nailed the look perfectly.
Dragonhawk1066 Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Nice work! That is certainly "period correct", LOL.
Lunajammer Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 That's pretty much how I remember them. That's why, in the 80's I never wanted to own one because I never saw one that wasn't totally beat on. Nice work.
Jantrix Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Those cars left an impression on me too. I did a '69 Cougar the same way. Very clean, solid work, I like it a lot.
Justin Dodson Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 I like it! I think it's awesome that your childhood vision inspired you to build a model car with similar attributes. Orange and black is the best looking color combo for Mopar muscle cars in my opinion.
Sam I Am Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 Thanks everyone! I still want to do this with a Challenger someday as well.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 You nailed it perfectly! I loved that look back then and still do. I used to run over 100 p.s.i. in the air shocks on my 66 Satellite. One of my friends in high school used to kid with me that I could crush cars by backing over them. Great work!
RAMBENNA Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 great job, it does bring back the time period. my friend had the GTX lime green jacked up front and rear. yours is a excellent build
Plowboy Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 It's the '70s all over again! You definitely got look down pat! Just needs some Hi Jacker decals in the quarter windows.
Funkychiken Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Strange looking car, but a sharp build!
