Brudda, those engines are amazing! Sorry for your torture but just know that your work is being enjoyed by me and I'm sure many others. Keep going!

Did about 30 min of work last night on my car hauler. Cut 37 Chevy rear fenders up to mold into the fronts. (Thanks Casey!!) I think I may need to remove the front of the running boards and lower the rear of the fenders.

Thank you TonyK. It’s crazy that you pay so much for a model factory hiro kit and you have to have so much attention to ever part. Sometimes they fit and most of the time they don’t. File here, cut there, modify, drill , it’s crazy.  I built a tamiya 1/12 Ferrari f1 kit in 9 days, this engine alone has taken several weeks. Just crazy.

Here is the kit I did in just a few days. Out of box. Paint then assemble. Hard to beat a tamiya kit. For the money, tamiya is the way to go. Bought this kit for $40 at a estate sale. If you want detail, then MFH is the way to go. But you will pay for it in money and time., thank you for the nice comment.

I agree with you on the Tamiya kits. I've heard some people scoff at the price but I like to point out that you never need to check the fit of parts before gluing as they will ALWAYS fit. The instructions give you info on lots of detail painting which can be time consuming but that only adds to the finished model. Tamiya paints are excellent for me too as I'm not that good and they make me look like a better painter.

Great looking engine work Bruce.  I didn't take the time to look back on the posts so I'm assuming its a Porsche engine, and what scale??

Hello TransAmMike, thank you and it’s a 935.1-12 scale. A model factory hiro kit. The martini car.but I’m making a “what if car”. My friend Mark gave several friends a 1/12 scale mfh 935/78. So we all picked  different cars. I am doing a gulf oil kind of car. They never sponsored a 935/78. It’s fun because I do not have any kind of car to copy. So as long as I use the gulf colors , or close, it’s use your imagination.

/\ Amazing work there.

Not quite today, and somewhat less advanced/skilled, over the Christmas holiday I've been trying to finish this Tamiya BMW:

The interior, engine and floorpan were all done in the '90s, I'm giving it a reshell to tidy it up a bit (I had most of a spare kit). There's quite a bit of BMF and detail painting on it, but hopefully I can make the final push on it today and get an early 2022 completion under my belt.

As time permits keep chipping away at it mate, you will get it done.

Speaking of BMF and completion's, got some applied to the Hakosuka im working on and trying to complete.

Got a bit of filling and shaping done on my 41 Ford COE car hauler. Filled in between the Cab and the fender with some styrene on both sides and got the rough shape finished on the passenger side.

A 1/24 Ferrari 166. 1949. Model factory hiro kit. Going to build it out of box. And even that’s going to be crazy. Kind of looks like a cobra from the front.

Went through the garage and reorganized/ packed kits and magazines to prepare for my move from WA to KY next week. Shipping container should be here on the 11th! Panic, and the realization that I have WAY too much stuff, is starting to set in!!

I poured the top half of some molds I’m making last night.7FFBB775-88D5-4B24-B00C-890B78ABB6BD.thumb.jpeg.2d598d0384513c0cd474767dec333ee5.jpeg

And poured the bottom half this morning. I’ve had trouble in the past with the resin not wanting to completely fill the cavities.? The last time I made molds, I figured out how to make a dike in the bottom half so I can over fill it. When I seat the top half, the excess resin is pushed into all the voids and out the vents. I will separate the halves  later tonight and try a cast tomorrow.?

Very little. As we don't have any LHS type shops here much anymore in the UK, if you want to buy a paint spray can for example they cost around £5.95 - £6.25 the shipping cost is about the same! So as a pensioner I can't afford that so I'm looking at chucking it in or building what models I have left without any painting.

Talking about painting it's something I enjoyed very much as a youngest, one of the subjects I 'majored in' at school. I've bought some kit, brushes/paper/watercolour pack etc so will start that up soon. I may just get a market stall and sell off what models I have left! Drastic after 60+ years of kit making but prices to buy paint are too high.

Sorry to hear that…Yes, shipping costs often add up to more than the items I want. I am fortunate to have two well stocked hobby shops nearby, so I try to support them as much as possible.

Try some of the online auto paint suppliers Pat, you can get litre cans for the same as one tamiya can and they can put any colour in cans for you. Just avoid simoniz paint cos its garbage. I use a place called jawell paints and I'm very happy with them. They also do house of kolor in spray cans.

I got my parts cast, and they all turned out really well. Unfortunately in my haste to try the new batch of resin, I forgot to insert the aluminum tubes in the differential mold….so those are scrap.?
