RandyB. Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 (edited) I dug out this 40+ year old build and decided to give it a restoration. Stripped all of the parts the with Super Clean degreaser and repainted everything in the correct colours as closely as possible. Ordered some factory colour paint from MCW for a factory finish. Rechromed all of the parts with the Molotow Chrome pen decanted and brushed on except for the windshield frame which was foiled. Turned out not too bad. Edited March 4, 2020 by RandyB.
bisc63 Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Was never a big fan of brown cars, but dang there's something tasteful in that brown/white combo that really works here! Well done, the old MPC kit dolls up pretty nice!
RAMBENNA Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 really nice build , looks great love the two tone colors
christian-w Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Beautiful I like the copper on the Corvette. It looks pretty good with the hardtop. Very nice!
robertw Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Beautiful save Randy. There is always, at least for me, a real sense of accomplishment when you take a previously so-so build and restore it to this level of finish.
larman Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 While it looks like it was a pretty nice build the first time, you did a great job on the resto. The color combination is just perfect and you did a really neat and clean build overall!
Snake45 Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Very nice, very clean! Looks like a new build, not a rework. Model on!
espo Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Beautiful restoration. Looking at the original build it's almost a shame to not save it. The color wasn't that normal at that time, I do remember one running around town back then but that was the only one I can recall. This is very cleanly detailed and nice to see you have both tops. The more you look at it the better it gets.
W-409 Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 Really nice! These '56 and '57 Corvettes are always really cool. I've wanted to build one for a long time, and seeing this only makes me want to build one even more. Very nice work and a great color choice, too. Nicely done!
