maxwell48098 Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Well I informed my wife this morning that due to the Wuhan virus / Covid 19 / Coronavirus, I would be self-quarantining myself in my model room until further notice. She actually bought that for about 5 minutes, but i'm sticking to it. A.J.
Dave Van Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Worked for me!!!! Last year I got pretty sick and had to stay home from May to Nov.......at first I was really bummed as I had a number of 1/1 car shows planned. But I figured I build models as I could do that. Built more in 2019 than in many years!!! So make the best of it...real or not!!! My 20 builds from 2019 https://public.fotki.com/DaveVan51/model-builds-2019/
espo Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 I'm practicing "Social Distancing" this week-end. I'd rather work on a model anyway.

tbill Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Ya, I’m a hermit myself in the fall/winter , only thing other than work that gets me out of the house is model shows and trips to the lhs/ hobby lobby to get supplies . Summer time gets me on the golf course...
Bainford Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 In an effort to control virus spread, the dockyard I work at is shutting its doors to all non-essential personnel for three weeks, starting Monday. That will be nearly everyone. I stopped by the lhs on the way home to stock up on paint.

64Comet404 Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 I was planning on being off for spring break, but now have a three-week vacation due to the school closures. Picked up a few bottles of paint today, and will try and get some kits finished for the (hopefully not cancelled) upcoming show season.

I can’t get out unless I really want to so I have even more model time. I do like to sit out side some. I sure don’t need Covid-19..
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 Great idea social distancing. Building lots of modeks. Second is displaying them here from the comfort of your home given so many shows have been postponed or canceled. Lets see some great projects!
martinfan5 Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 So really, nothing is changing for us......................??
unclescott58 Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 I work in a school that's been on spring break for the last week. I was looking forward to going back to work this coming Tuesday. This morning our state's governor announced the closing of all our schools in the state. Starting this coming Wednesday. And going though to Friday, March 27. So a one week break, has now turned into a three week break for our kids and most of our staff. Oh well. I too plan on working mainly on models over the next two weeks. I've got most everything I need. Including now more time.
PatW Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Were over 70, the government here in the UK says that soon we will be not allowed out of the house for our own protection! Who will do the shopping for food etc? We went to the supermarket early on Saturday morning as we normally do and most of the shelves were empty! It seems that on Friday people were going in and buying multiple trolley loads of anything they could get hold of! No restrictions have been put on how much people can buy, so lunacy reigns! We are in the process of downsizing, going from a four bedroom split level detached house to a two bedroom single floor bungalow, why does it take so long to sort out? Were 4 months down the line, a friend tells me it took him 7 months! My huge mistake was that I packed up my 300+ models and all the kit 2 months ago! I've a good mind to clear my table in my garden cabin and get the tools and a few kits out and start building again, but that tempts fate, I bet we will get a moving date as soon as I do that! That's if we are allowed out of house arrest! 2020 is turning out to be a very bad year for everything and everyone!
Jantrix Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 I think I've got this social distancing thing down pat.
OldNYJim Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 My wife just got sent home from work for 2 weeks...it’s gonna be a long 2 weeks ??. That said, we’re all perfectly healthy and God willing we’ll stay that way whilst this blows over, and I hope y’all do too...but it’s still gonna be a LONG two weeks. They even shut down the bars ??
PatW Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 All the very best to everyone out there, through these testing times. Please stay safe. 7 hours ago, Jantrix said: I think I've got this social distancing thing down pat. Superb Rob, couldn't be better! I hope you have plenty of supplies!
crazyjim Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Just got word that the local library programs will be closed until April 6. All you can do is drop off/pick up books. A real bummer because me & Marcia go for adult coloring and then diamond paintiing every week. Looks like I'll continue my mulching project. Three cubic yards down and probably another 5 or 6 to go.
Erik Smith Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 (edited) Hunker down and build. Sounds like a plan. Hope everyone has all they need- model and life wise - to have a comfortable and safe time. So...you live in the trailer and the barn is for the model cars, right?? //I work in a library, and we've just closed until further notice. Guess I'd better resurrect some projects!
stinkybritches Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 My job said they are not going to close unless someone dies.
