Brutalform Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Sad to hear Fred Willard died. He was the father of the bride on American Wedding. Funny movie. His character was especially funny with the bachelor party scene...
Rob Hall Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 (edited) I remember him from the Christopher Guest comedies--'Best of Show', 'For Your Consideration', 'Waiting for Guffman', funny guy...he even had a small role in Spinal Tap IIRC. Edited May 16, 2020 by Rob Hall
SfanGoch Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 I remember him when he portrayed Jerry Hubbard, Barth Gimble's (Martin Mull) sidekick on Fernwood Tonight.

"And me...I'm Jerry Hubbard." I never saw Fernwood Tonight but I was a faithful watcher of the follow-on America Tonight. To this day one of my most used quotes was stolen from Martin Mull: "Now, that is just darn close to interesting!" I probably say it twice a week. 1 hour ago, Brutalform said: He was the father of the bride on American Wedding. More recently, he was also the father of the son-in-law on Modern Family, and he was absolutely perfect for the role. They killed off his character in a poignant way in the final season just a few months ago. I'll miss him. Thanks for all the laughs, Fred.
Miatatom Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 Really loved his performances as Amy's dad on Everybody Loves Raymond playing the uber pious husband to Georgia Engel. She was the perfect match to Fred in the show.

ChrisBcritter Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 (edited) Sorry to hear this - he was so funny on Fernwood 2 Night; perfect foil to Martin Mull. Loved it when Fred would say something particularly dumb, and Martin would answer "Jerry, look over there..." Hope this gets played at his funeral: Edited May 17, 2020 by ChrisBcritter
TonyK Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 Fernwood 2 Night was when I remember seeing him for the first time and then everything he was on since was better with him in it. Always made me laugh. It seemed he was working without a script. Sad to see him go.
unclescott58 Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 Fred Willard will be missed. I especially loved him in Best of Show. In fact, in that one he stole the show.

charlie8575 Posted May 23, 2020 Posted May 23, 2020 I remember him from doing all kinds of silly bits with Jay Leno. He was a very funny man. Charlie Larkin
Oldcarfan27 Posted May 24, 2020 Posted May 24, 2020 I just Googled him and saw images of him. He was looking pretty drawn. Reports say he died of natural causes, but I think something was happening that we may never find out about. I enjoyed him on "Raymond". Very funny guy, he will be missed. Does anybody else remember him from the TV show "Real People"?

Charlie Larkin He was eleven working with Jimmy Fallon after Leno moved on. I’ll be honest, never realized he was well into his 80’s.
NYLIBUD Posted May 24, 2020 Posted May 24, 2020 That sucks,he was a very funny guy, always playing off beat roles.RIP

iamsuperdan Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Just noticed over the weekend that he appears in the new show Space Force. He plays Steve Carrell's character's dad. He's pretty funny in it.
