Don't want to be Grumpy Cat, but....

I visited my normal (but not favorite) HL last Saturday evening with the idea to buy two Revell kits that I decided I needed since it was 40% off week. As I walked in, the two checkout lines each much have had 15 customers waiting. I had to pee, and there are enough unhoused folks in the area now that you need an employee to give you the code to the restrooms now (new to me at this location). No employees available anywhere of course. I looked at Amazon and discovered that I could have both of these kits delivered to my door for about $2/kit more than I could get them from HL for and I wouldn't have to waste 20 minutes of my life behind Karens with overflowing shopping carts arguing about 50 cents on some dried flowers. Done. $39.95 minus 40% is not a deal for reissued Revell kits.

I agree Steve, I live about 40 miles one way. I have bought kits other places to save on getting out and the check out lines. They don’t have a code for the bathroom but the only time I step in is when I go to my doctor..

I saw the Green Hornet model there a few weeks ago. Already built one and very glad they produced this model but unfortunately there's nothing else you can do with it.

I have some ideas for making a Stock-ish car out of the kit. Leaving out almost all the Green Hornet stuff, and adding new wheels and tires. (the wheels from the either the '58 Christine kit or the '59 Imperial kit). Subtle things, but a change.

Very excited that Hobby Lobby opened a new store about a week ago in San Jose, CA.  It's about a 10 minute drive from my home and it is along the way home from work. I went last week and picked up Revell's 1937 Ford pickup.

Did they drop the Tamiya tool stuff? I went this past weekend and did not see any Tamiya stuff in the tool section.

The store I have only carries the Tamiya weathering packs..

I bought the MPC Demon kit last Saturday. There were maybe 3 new kits. They still have that 1968 Shelby GT 500 with the green box art for sale.

Had an hour to kill and wandered around hobby lobby.  Found these that I hadn't seen before.  The containers are pretty big so unless you are doing a lot of interiors with the same color...

They didn't even have those anymore either. Oh well, I should have picked up an extra paint stand when they had them.

I bought the Red and Black. They don't carry Embossing Powder anymore

I think they have replaced the Tamiya tools with their own in-house line of tools.

HL actually started dropping its Tamiya line back when Tamiya decided to join the "exclusive" club and disallow discounts on its products.
That would have probably req'd HL to change its internal practices for a single supplier, which it wasn't going to do.

I used a lot of Tamiya Extra Thin & it was one of the main reasons I'd hit up HL. Once they quit carrying Airfix kits and then Tamiya supplies I just about quit going in there. It got old going in and seeing the same kits on the shelf, 90% of which aren't in my wheelhouse to begin with!
