Classicgas Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Revell's ancient kit. Inspiration and Body in paint
Modlbldr Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 What a beautiful car!! I like the color too. Later-
Classicgas Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 Thanks. I custom mixed it at work.
Bainford Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Cool project, Lee. I think you nailed the colour. I've had one of these kits in the stash for years waiting for its turn at bat. Perhaps I'll be inspired. I'm watching.
Classicgas Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 Thanks. Yeah I'm happy with the match. My phone photographs a but dark.
THarrison351 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 I built this kit like 40 years ago. Molded in red plastic and I painted it with Testors Emerald Green. Yeah, that worked. Yours is looking great! The multipiece body looks like it went together well.
Gramps46 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Be still my beating heart. This was my first 1:1 car, same color even.
Rich Chernosky Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 I started this kit some 30+ yrs ago. Its nice to see it being built. Good color choice too.
doorsovdoon Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Beautiful cars these Austin Healeys. Ferrari could have stole this design and nobody would think it was an Austin.
Justin Porter Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Always interested in seeing one of these completed. So far so good!

Classicgas Posted November 27, 2020 Author Posted November 27, 2020 Thanks guys! Yeah, just take your time and the body goes together well. Leave the seams on the fenders, they are on the real car.
robertw Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Started this kit several decades ago, body all glued together but work stopped there. Considering its age and multi part reputation it is a very nice and accurate kit. You're doing a good job on yours. Keep it up, hopefully you can inspire me to pull mine out of the stash and finish it.
Classicgas Posted November 27, 2020 Author Posted November 27, 2020 Engine completed. May have to rethink the air cleaners for lack of room under the hood.
Richard Bartrop Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Gotta love those old Healys. They're almost the perfect embodiment of a '50s sports car. I'm going to be following this one.
GeeBee Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Looking forward to seeing this one progress, my Dad worked at Jensen, where the bodyshells were produced before they were transported to Abingdon for them to be built up.
Bainford Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 Nice work on the engine. I 've always thought the engine in this kit was particularly well done for its age, and your detailing has really brought it to life. It looks great.
Classicgas Posted November 28, 2020 Author Posted November 28, 2020 Thanks. The instructions are wrong on a couple of parts, so do your research. I have a handful of pics if you need for yours.
Classicgas Posted November 28, 2020 Author Posted November 28, 2020 Made a air cleaner change. Most prototypical and takes up less room.
